CLEANING THE OLDEST CZECH

NATIONAL PARK IS A JOB NOT ONLY

FOR FORESTERS BUT ALSO FOR

ŠKODA EMPLOYEES

Š

KODA AUTO volunteers went on a trip

to the Krkonoše Mountains on 18 May.

Specifically, employees from the Vrchlabí,

Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny factories took

part in the Clean Krkonoše project and the

countrywide initiative entitled “Let’s Clean

the World, Let’s Clean the Czech Republic”, as part of which they helped clean up

the highest Czech mountains after the winter tourist season. They collected waste

on a total of five routes leading from Špindlerovka back to Špindlerův Mlýn. In total,

they cleaned 37 kilometres of routes in the

Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP) in highly

demanding terrain, with some parts still under half a meter of snow.

“Twice a year, we see this great group of

people from ŠKODA AUTO arriving here in

Špindlerův Mlýn. They’re not afraid to get

their hands dirty and are a great help for

our foresters. This year’s total of 170 volunteers who took part in the campaign represents a really non-trivial help, and we’d like

to thank all of them”, commented KRNAP

Director Robin Böhnisch. RED

ON THE GREEN WAVE

WITH OUR RETAILERS

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ALREADY SPREAD FAR BEYOND ŠKODA

AUTO A LONG TIME AGO, AS IS EVIDENT FROM THE GREENRETAIL

PROGRAM FOR AUTHORISED RETAILERS

E

nvironmental protection and the efficient

management of our resources are integral

parts of ŠKODA AUTO’s strategy. However, it is not simple to navigate through individual procedures. In the Czech Republic, in the area

of waste management alone, over 90 legal regulations apply to the activities of an authorised retail and service network. That is why the Business Development After Sales (VAD) department

has prepared measures within the GreenRetail

project to help partners set up and improve their

management system and support the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in their everyday activities. One question

that might be on your mind is: How much are retailers affected by such measures?

such as waste management, air protection, water protection and the handling of chemical substances, as well as other recent topics related to

changes in legal regulations and current legislation. Participants will receive a practical set of

guidelines to handle individual situations.

e-Learning

Energy management

Retail and service partners are familiarised with

the requirements, standards and trends in the area

of waste management, environmental protection

and energy management. In each of the eight parts

of a virtual dealership, retailers can become familiar with practical principles of environmental and

energy management in a user-friendly form. Their

participation contributes to sustainable development and a reduction in the overall environmental footprint of the authorised retail and service network of the ŠKODA brand.

This represents the automotive company’s primary goal for this year as far as its authorised retail and service network is concerned. It should

help to implement at least the basic elements of

energy management in this area, familiarise retail partners with identifying potential opportunities to reduce energy consumption and then

help them to make use of these opportunities.

The key to this lies in innovative data management tools, user behaviour and process configuration, all of which should quickly lead to energy

savings in all areas. The methodology emphasises data visualisation and immediate feedback

on energy management. The automotive company estimates that the minimum energy savings

of its authorised partners should be between 5

and 15 percent, without requiring massive investments. EVA JAROŠOVÁ

Training

These events reinforce and deepen knowledge

related to the correct operation of vehicle service

activities in terms of environmental protection. At

the practice-focused one-day training, topics include various areas of environmental protection,

Environmental certificates

ŠKODA already introduced certificates for authorised partners – in particular, the prestigious

Environment Certificate – back in 1996. The certificate demonstrates that its recipient adheres to

all regulations and standards in the area of environmental protection and uses environmentally friendly technological procedures in all of his/

her activities.

Our company’s long-term

goal is to reduce operating

costs, and we continuously seek

out opportunities to improve

we view the implementation of

Energy Management by ŠKODA

AUTO as a positive step – in

particular, we see its main benefits

in correctly setting up an efficient

system to manage energy and

identify and implement energysaving measures. We expect the

project to bring transparent

management, a good choice of

technology, improved work

organisation and a reduction in

negative impacts on the
