Christian Strube, Board Member for Technical Development at ŠKODA AUTO, explains the significance of the E‑Strategy 2025+

What were the main reasons for modifying the strategy for Technical Development?

ŠKODA Technical Development has become an equal development partner in the Volkswagen Group. Since 2016, we have increased the number of cross-brand projects. In addition, the extension of the ŠKODA cycle plan and technology leaps in our cars required changes. Therefore, Česana has significantly grown with more than 700 new positions (Technical Development currently employs 2,309 engineers – ed.) and expansion of ca. 10,000 m2 additional office space.

WE SEE THE TECHNOLOGY CENTER IN PUNE AS A STANDALONE ORGANISATION, AS WELL AS THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT BACKBONE OF INDIA AND SOUTH EAST ASIA.

CHRISTIAN STRUBE, BOARD MEMBER FOR TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

In a nutshell, what is the new E-Strategy 2025+ about?

We came up with an inspiring vision for us: “ŠKODA Smart Understatement in every product”. This statement points out our greatest strength and our contribution both for ŠKODA and for the Volkswagen Group. The strategy for Technical Development was revised in a one-year process and involved more than 60 colleagues. We are now focusing all our initiatives on five (previously, eight) strategic core topics.

How will you measure the strategy’s success?

Each core topic has roadmaps for 2025+ and clear targets for 2020. The five core topic teams meet quarterly in an interactive workshop to discuss progress, interfaces and also new impulses.

In which way is E-Strategy 2025+ related to the strategy of the whole VW Group?

It supports the VW Group strategy in particular with regard to taking over more development responsibility in India and it also adresses  the group environmental requirements related to products.. red
