EcoLOGI competition was to initiate

and back innovative logistics solutions

devised to support environmental protection efforts and sustainable development of modern society. The competing

solutions are measures that have been

implemented at least 80% in the plant

concerned and make it possible to transfer the newly gained know-how to other

sites.

ŠKODA AUTO succeeded with “green”

solutions focused on CO2 emission reductions and environmental friendliness in

logistics and transport operations. The

projects that took part in the competition

include, among others, alternative drive

systems (CNG), the use of solar energy

and paperless logistics. Jiří Cee, head

of Brand Logistics and Patron of Green

Logistics at ŠKODA AUTO and the VW

Group, received the EcoLOGI Award at an

award ceremony held as part of SpeedCHAIN, an international logistics conference held on 1 November. RED

Energy

In 2017, the specific energy consumption per

vehicle is about 1.5 MWh, 30 percent less

than in 2010. Key measures include, among

others, intelligent performance control and

LED lighting on operating sites. The highest

compressed-air savings have been achieved

by reducing the consumption of pneumatic

energy, eliminating leaks, adjusting the pressure etc.

Emissions

Emission reduction measures go hand in

hand with the Paint Shop’s modernisation,

e.g. completely replacing the paint application equipment and changing the emission

reduction systems on Lines 1 and 2. These

measures have led to substantial reductions

of NOx, CO and VOC emissions.

ŠKODA Trees

Renewable resources

More than 50 percent of the electricity used

on ŠKODA’s operating sites comes from renewable resources. The brand also uses energy generated by incinerating biomass at

the ŠKO-ENERGO heating plant. By replacing one-third of its fossil fuel volume with

biomass, the heating plant saves 120,000

tonnes of CO2 annually.

Waste management

ŠKODA AUTO has changed its waste management processes in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí

in 2017 to substantially reduce its waste volumes. The result is less than 1 kg per vehicle, which means that the annual volume of

Volunteers will plant over 88,000 new trees

throughout the Czech Republic by the end

of this year as part of the ŠKODA Trees project. The brand has contributed more than

730,000 young trees to various forest restoration projects over the past few years.

Falcons

ŠKO-ENERGO joined a hawk-help project in

2013 by placing an (artificial) falcon nesting

site on its 200-metre chimney. Two years later, a falcon couple settled in the nest, and

since then they have produced three litters

of triplets. The public can follow the story

of this falcon family online, thanks to a Web
