FOR ŠKODA AUTO EMPLOYEES
Dear colleagues, we would like to
inform you that there is currently
a company-wide smoking ban at
ŠKODA AUTO. This applies across
all plant premises and offices. In
this context, we are pursuing the
next course of action as we
emerge from the pandemic. Our
ambition is to make ŠKODA
AUTO a ‘non-smoking company’.
Why are we taking
Smoking poses a huge health risk.
Numerous companies and many places
throughout the Czech Republic have
already implemented strict smoking
bans, including restaurants, stops, zoos
and sports grounds, as well as
playgrounds and other entertainment
and cultural venues. As one of the
country’s largest employers, ŠKODA
AUTO supports this positive
development. Our top priority is to
protect the health of our employees in
the best possible way. During the
COVID-19 pandemic, we observed the
extent to which the health of smokers,
in particular, is at risk. Tobacco
addiction is a serious social and health
problem. Every year, four million
people worldwide die as a result of
smoking, and nicotine addiction is the
cause of 18,000 deaths annually in the
Czech Republic. Young smokers are
five times more likely to suffer a heart
attack than non-smokers in the same
age group, and one third of all cancer
diagnoses are attributable to smoking.
If you want to stop smoking, we will
actively support you – for example,
with nicotine replacement therapy and
professional counselling, which is partly
covered by ŠKODA AUTO and health
insurance companies such as ŠKODA
Health Insurance. Next week, we will
be finalising the details of our ‘nonsmoking company’ project, and we will
announce them shortly.
With best wishes, ŠKODA AUTO Board

POST AMONG THE
ŠKODA AUTO defends its last year's
victory in the CZECH TOP 100 Most
Influential Companies in the Czech
Republic. The top spot is all the more
valuable because the automotive sector
in particular was significantly affected by
the COVID-19 pandemic last year. ŠKODA
AUTO has taken dozens of measures at its
plants to prevent the spread of the disease
at all plants, and desite the decline in most
major markets. This year, we are opening
a brand new chapter in our more than 125year history with the launch of the ENYAQ
iV electric car.
Culture is restarting in the popular Pluhárna
space. These old industrial halls behind the
secondary school building in Havlíčkova
Street in Mladá Boleslav came alive with a
cultural programme last summer. This year,
thanks to the support of the ŠKODA AUTO
Foundation and ŠKOENERGO, you will also
be able to choose from a wide range of
cultural events. Concerts, theatre, stand-up
performances and many additional events .
The first big name of this year's programme
will arrive on 1/7/2021 - Xavier Baumaxa
will perform again after last year's success!
