ŠKODA AUTO EDU.LAB WILL SUPPORT
TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT THE ZFF
ŠKODA AUTO is once again providing mobility for guests of the International Film Festival for Children and
Youth, the largest event of its kind in the world. The cooperation with the Zlín Festival is now in its 19th
year. The main novelty that the carmaker is bringing to Zlín this year is the ŠKODA AUTO EDU.LAB.
The mobile laboratory aims to pique interest in modern technology among primary and secondary school
pupils and motivate them to study technical fields. This year, visitors to the Zlín festival can also look
forward to the popular family "Day with ŠKODA", which will take place on Saturday 11/9/2021
at Zlín's Náměstí Míru (Peace Square).
OF THE YEAR“
OF THE BESTSELLER
A “six-pack” for ŠKODA at the
“Family Cars of the Year” poll: the
new all-electric ENYAQ iV SUV and
the SUPERB COMBI earned us no
fewer than six titles in this year’s
readers’ choice awards from German
car magazine AUTO Straßenverkehr.
No other car maker proved as
popular with the 11,500 poll
participants as ŠKODA AUTO.
ŠKODA AUTO embarked on a new era
on 3 September 1996. In Mladá Boleslav, one of the
most modern car plants in Europe went into operation,
while series production of the ŠKODA OCTAVIA, the
brand’s most important new model, began there at the
same time. Since then, around 7 million units of the
four contemporary OCTAVIA generations have been
delivered. The OCTAVIA offered generous space,
cutting-edge technology, extensive safety features and
an attractive price-performance ratio. We introduced
the current fourth generation on 11/11/2019 and it
still keeps gaining popularity both at home
in the Czech Republic and in the whole world as well.
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV took the
import as well as the overall title
in the “Best Technology” category in
the price bracket up to 25,000 euros
and in addition won the import title
in the “Best Design” category.
NO. OF THE WEEK
The Czech Ministry of Finance has
completed one of the largest public tenders
for new cars, which included the
procurement of vehicles for 61 state and
local government entities. ŠKODA AUTO
won with the FABIA COMBI, and will
deliver up to 498 cars, including servicing
for five years or 150,000 km. In the next
two years, the cars will be purchased by, for
example, the Ministries of Defence,
Environment and Transport and
subordinate organisations: e.g. Czech
Railway Administration, the Road and
Motorway Directorate and other state
and local government bodies.
ŠKODA 130 LR: LAST MOTORSPORT MODEL
FROM MB WITH REAR-MOUNTED ENGINE
The ŠKODA SUPERB COMBI also
garnered three awards in the 25,000
to 35,000 euro segment: it was
judged to deliver the “Best Value
for Money” in the import and overall
rankings and beat its competitors
to win the import title for “Best
Technology”. This means ŠKODA has
now received a total of 40 awards
in this German car magazine’s
Scarcely a decade after the premiere of the iconic ŠKODA 130 RS coupé, the next generation of rally cars
from Mladá Boleslav was on the starting grid with the ŠKODA 130 LR; in the 1980s, Group B racing cars
dominated the rally world. Once again, the car manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav also had several irons in
the fire, with talented drivers repeatedly outperforming even the most prominent names. Ladislav Křeček
and Bořivoj Motl finished 6th overall with the ŠKODA 130 LR at the 1986 Rally San Remo – the best result
for ŠKODA up to that point.
