Be careful when communicating about the company's market position and activities
Media interviews, social media posts, conference presentations, press releases – all of these help build the Škoda Auto brand. At the same time, your words may also attract the attention of competition authorities. What you say publicly may later be used when assessing how the carmaker behaves on the market. Statements that suggest the carmaker wants to limit competition, block access to data or technical information, or force customers to use only its own services can be particularly risky.
Examples
→ "Škoda Auto dominates the market."
→ "Our goal is for repairs to be carried out exclusively within the authorised network."
→ "Independent providers should not have access to data from our cars."
→ "Thanks to our strength, we can dictate the terms on the market."
How to Communicate Correctly
Instead of emphasising market power, talk about the quality of products and services, innovations, technologies, customer experience or sustainability. For example: "We want to bring customers innovative solutions and high quality." Note: competition law risk does not only concern public communication. Internal emails, presentations and strategic documents are equally important.
