Local Driver Celebrates at the Barum Rally
The first two places at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which forms part of both the European Rally Championship (ERC) and the Czech Rally Championship (MČR), were taken by crews driving Škoda cars. In both championships, the winners were local driver Adam Březík and co-driver Zdeněk Bělák jun. from the Samohýl Škoda Team. Second place in the ERC went to the Finnish duo Teemu Suninen and Antti Haapala, who thus strengthened their lead in the European Rally Championship standings. In the MČR, second place was taken by Ján Kundlák and co-driver Pavel Zalabák from the Auto Strž Škoda Rallypossible Team. The Czech Rally Championship will conclude with the Rally Pačejov in the second half of September.
Australians Succeed in Paraguay
Four crews driving Fabia RS Rally2 cars finished in the top ten of the WRC2 category at the August Rally Paraguay. Best placed were Toksport WRT newcomers, Australians Taylor Gill and Daniel Brkic, who finished fourth. The South American event did not go as well for Estonian driver Robert Virves, who suffered a significant setback right in the first special stage after going off the track. Despite this, he remains in the lead of the WRC2 category standings. The championship continues with Rally Chile from 10 to 13 September.
