Building a New Car in Your Living Room
The carmaker has launched a pilot project for the Škoda Immersive Hub platform. It allows customers to configure and view a selected car first through mixed reality.
You are sitting at home on the sofa. You put on your mixed-reality glasses, and within a few seconds, the new Škoda Epiq crossover appears in front of you in life size. You can walk around it, open the doors, sit behind the wheel or change the body colour or wheel design with a single gesture. This is how the pilot project of the Škoda Immersive Hub platform works. It uses mixed reality (technology that connects the physical world with digital elements so that both environments interact with each other in real time) to bring new models closer to customers from the moment of their launch. The interactive presentation helps people get a better sense of the design, proportions and configuration options.
Before It Reaches the Showroom
Thanks to a new app, people can view a car at a 1:1 scale at home, in the office or at selected dealers. In the pilot project, the Škoda Epiq and Škoda Elroq models are available, and the app is currently available for Apple Vision Pro devices, with a version for Meta Quest in development.
Through mixed reality, you can view the car's interior from the comfort of your home and change its appearance.
Virtual but Surprisingly Real
The digital car responds to the lighting conditions in the room, so it feels as if it is really standing in front of you. Users can view the interior from the driver's seat, open the boot or instantly change the car's appearance. The experience works both in a fully virtual environment and in mixed reality, which connects the virtual model with the surrounding world.
The Škoda Immersive Hub is not just a digital catalogue. It presents selected cars through a story inspired by an advertising campaign. For the Škoda Epiq, colourful abstract shapes gradually form the silhouette of the car, which then transforms into a photorealistic car. The Škoda Elroq, meanwhile, is based on the Be More campaign and features natural motifs, such as flamingos.
From the Living Room to the Showroom
The platform complements the online configurator and will gradually make its way to selected car dealerships. The pilot operation is already running in Slovakia and Finland, with further testing to expand towards the end of 2026. The Škoda Immersive Hub is part of the Škodaverse initiative, which has been bringing new ways of connecting the digital and physical worlds since 2021, making the customer experience even more engaging.
