Psychological Safety
Environment That Helps You and Your Team
New tasks, technologies, procedures and situations that you didn't know yesterday are now a normal part of working life. How does your mind cope with them, and what can you do to make sure that change doesn't wear you out in the long run?
It's not just about what you can do. It also matters whether you feel safe at work – whether you can ask when you don't understand something, point out a problem, or say: "I made a mistake here." This is what we call a psychologically safe environment. When you feel respected and heard, teams work together more effectively, come up with more innovations, and cope with change better. Research by Professor Amy Edmondson from Harvard Business School has long confirmed that psychologically safe teams achieve better results and learn from their own experience more quickly. An internal CMX survey also showed that this is a subject employees consider important, so it deserves attention.
Building the future together
Psychological safety is not just a topic for wellbeing programmes. It is one of the basic prerequisites for an environment in which people can grow, collaborate, innovate and successfully manage change.
When you join Weeks of Psychological Safety, you'll gain inspiration and discover practical tips you can use both at work and in everyday life. Because openness, respect and trust are exactly what help us succeed together, even in times of great change.
Find out what role psychological safety plays in senior management teams and how leaders can support open communication and trust in the Leader to Leader podcast, featuring guests Tomáš Mertin and Alice Hamplová. You can listen to it in the media library on Škoda Space.
Join the Weeks of psychological Safety
The event, kicking off on 21 September, has been prepared for you by the SG – OHS and Ergonomics and SE – Škoda Academy departments. It will bring inspiring meetings with experts, podcasts, videos, practical tips and information on available support services. The whole initiative will symbolically culminate on 10 October, World Mental Health Day. The three-week programme will focus on how to build psychological safety in team leadership, in relationships and during periods of change. We invite you to three events taking place in the LKK conference hall. The first is intended for leaders only, while for the other two you need to register via Škoda Booking. Recordings of the talks will then be available on the Degreed platform.
