Iconic Škoda Octavia Celebrates 30 Years on the Market

The first modern Octavia rolled off the production line on 3 September 1996. Since then, it has been a key part of the Czech car manufacturer's portfolio. The fourth generation of this bestseller is currently rolling off the production lines in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Kostanay in Kazakhstan. Development of the model began a year after the carmaker became part of the Group, at the same time as a new production plant was being built in Mladá Boleslav, which increased production capacity from 90,000 to 350,000 cars a year. The first generation of the car was initially produced only as a liftback; this was followed in 1998 by the highly successful estate version, and in later years an all-wheel-drive version and the sporty RS were added. Some variants of the first generation were produced until 2010, even though the second-generation Octavia had already been unveiled in 2004. Škoda Auto has been producing the fourth generation since 2019 and gave it a facelift two years ago. Even after three decades, the Octavia remains the carmaker's best-selling model and a popular choice among both business and private customers. This is also demonstrated by the Škoda on the Road section in the online version of Škoda Mobil.

The carmaker has received so many prestigious Red Dot Award design prizes across various categories. Most recently, its vision of the future mobile ecosystem scored a hit.

The award-winning solution builds on the current MyŠkoda app and shows how future digital services can be even more tailored to individual users' needs, respond better to specific situations, and smoothly accompany them throughout the entire period of car ownership.

Key elements of the concept include Laura, a digital assistant using artificial intelligence, which provides proactive support and allows users to control services and get information through natural conversation.

World-Class Sounds Rang Out in Vrchlabí

The Monastery Church of St Augustine once again hosted a series of classical music concerts as part of the 31st Vrchlabí Music Summer, supported by Škoda Auto. The programme included a candlelit piano recital by Terezie Fialová and a concert from the Vivaldi & Morzin in memoriam series, which pays tribute to Count Václav Morzin of Vrchlabí and his support for the Italian baroque composer.
