Peaq took centre stage at the National Theatre

Škoda Auto has extended its partnership with the Czech Philharmonic and the National Theatre. It celebrated its partnership with 'Golden Chapel', in an unusual way: by photographing the Peaq among characters from The Bartered Bride and Beauty and the Beast. Take a look behind the scenes.

How to Get the Peaq onto the Stage That Means the World

Škoda Auto has extended its cooperation with the National Theatre in Prague until at least 2029. The carmaker highlighted this connection in an unconventional way, directly on stage.

The idea to connect two top Czech "performers", the newest electric Peaq model and the foremost Czech cultural institution, was born in the GK – Communications department. The result was an original photo shoot staged directly on the stage of the National Theatre's historic building.

The partnership, which has lasted for almost thirty years, is an expression of mutual trust and the belief that culture has its irreplaceable place in society. We greatly appreciate that Škoda Auto has long stood by the National Theatre and supported us in what matters most – creating quality art and bringing it to as wide an audience as possible.

Jan Burian

Director General of the National Theatre

The car on stage was joined by striking characters inspired by the current repertoire of the National Theatre's individual ensembles. In front of the camera, for example, met the Newspaper Girl from the ballet production Kafka: The Trial, the bear from the modern staging of The Bartered Bride, a performer from the In Our Hands production representing Laterna magika, and Pierrot from Beauty and the Beast.

The journey of the nearly two-tonne car onto the stage was a small story in itself. However, the National Theatre is well prepared for such challenges. Thanks to the system of lifting platforms, the revolving stage and the goods lift in the backstage areas of the New Stage and the historic building, the car was transported onto the first stage from the 19th century in about half an hour. Then came the search for the ideal composition, the final visual touches to the car, the lighting of the stage and the whole theatre with experienced lighting technicians, and the work of the photographers. In less than two hours, the final images were ready.

Almost 30 Years of Partnership

The cooperation between the Czech carmaker and the National Theatre has continued uninterrupted since 1998 and has now been extended for another three years. Škoda Auto will continue to support the activities of the National Theatre while also ensuring its mobility through a fleet of loaned cars. The partnership covers support for all the artistic ensembles of the National Theatre – Drama, Opera, Ballet and Laterna magika – and their performances on its main stages. Thanks to its partnership with the National Theatre, the carmaker also reaches a very important target group.
