This Year's EDU Week Attracted Record Interest

The role of the teacher is changing: today, a teacher no longer only passes on knowledge but also becomes a guide through the learning process. This year's sixth edition of the EDU Week event focused precisely on this change. Held with the support of Škoda Auto Vysoká škola (ŠAVŠ), Škoda Academy and the carmaker, it took place from 25 to 27 August, connecting Mladá Boleslav, Pardubice and Vrchlabí through a series of expert workshops and publicly accessible webinars. More than 800 teachers, experts from non-profit organisations and Škoda Auto employees took part in this year's edition, representing the highest attendance so far.

One of the tasks of universities is to create learning opportunities not only for students but also for those already working in practice. EDU Week is a great example of how we can connect the academic and corporate environments, share experiences and respond together to the changes brought by today's world.

Participants explored working with cognitive load, the power of storytelling, internet safety, artificial intelligence, and topics affecting the everyday lives of children and young people. "Today's teachers increasingly need to combine their expertise with the ability to guide pupils through learning, support their independence and develop their competences," explained Taťána Beránková Císařová, a lecturer at one of this year's seminars. Considerable attention was also given to topics such as social isolation in the online environment and dealing with children's problem behaviour. Specific tips were also shared on how to broach sensitive subjects with children, such as personal boundaries, relationships and physical development. Once again, the event was completely free of charge and open to anyone wishing to keep pace with social changes and trends in education.
