Another Upgrade of SAP ONE Log Completed
Škoda Auto switched to the newest version of the Group's SAP ONE Log solution (Release 7) for production and logistics during the collective holiday shutdown. The system is being developed jointly by the Škoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Components brands. At Škoda Auto, the implementation is being handled by the SIMPLOG team, with support from the PLS – Logistics System Support and FIP/3 – IT Logistics departments.
Successful deployment was preceded by lengthy preparation, coordination with the Group and, above all, thorough testing of the new functionalities. Colleagues from a number of departments took part in this process. The SAP ONE Log solution is already running at Škoda Auto, for example on the GS5 battery line and in gearbox production in Vrchlabí.
"The aim of these further system versions is to add new functionalities and improve the system so that it makes people's everyday work easier and helps them react faster to changes in the Production and Logistics area," say Pavel Mařan from the PLS unit and Martin Keller from FIP/3. And this is the direction in which SAP ONE Log continues to develop.
New functionalities will bring, for example, a better overview of stock levels, prediction of their development, and automatic replanning of requirements for production and suppliers. Users will thus gain more accurate information and greater support in planning and operational decision-making.
The rollout of SAP ONE Log also continues at other plants of the Group. For example, the plant in Emden will deploy the target version of SAP ONE Log in its Press Shops and Body Shops, with car assembly to follow a year later. This will make it the first car plant where the solution is implemented. Meanwhile, Škoda Auto is preparing to expand the functionalities in Vrchlabí and to roll out the solution in its Press Shops. The shared goal is a more unified, transparent and efficient system for production and logistics processes across the VW Group.
