The Czech automaker has assumed group-wide responsibility for the Procurement AI strategy and the development and scaling of artificial intelligence projects across Procurement for all brands. This is a response to the transformation in the industry, where it is no longer enough to simply negotiate prices and secure supplies. Procurement is becoming a strategic partner that actively changes processes and responds to global uncertainties and growing demands for sustainability. Škoda Auto’s goal is to transform procurement into a data-driven organization supported by automation and artificial intelligence. The automaker already has extensive experience with implementing AI projects in this area, for example in predictive analytics or in identifying cost-effective material solutions.

“The task of Škoda Procurement, specifically the BZ team, which oversees its central functions, is – in its new group-wide role – not only to develop individual solutions but also, and in particular, to synchronize the activities of individual brands. In practice, this involves not only developing a strategy and defining priority areas for AI implementation but also, for example, building a shared AI marketplace for sharing and scaling artificial intelligence projects,” said Jarmila Plachá, Head of BZ.

Another ambition for 2026 is to identify projects with high business value and measurable benefits (Value Stars). Two projects are already demonstrating where artificial intelligence has the greatest potential. Elimination of Hidden Costs by AI compares parts documentation across brands and uncovers costs that would otherwise go unnoticed. The Procurement Virtual Assistant (PVA) is capable of independently conducting price negotiations with suppliers for items with low financial limits in the area of general procurement.
