Sosnová Celebrated with Legends
This year’s Sosnová Classic programme marked the 125th anniversary of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker’s first factory participation in motorsport.
Successful Škoda drivers also arrived in Sosnová. From left: Václav Blahna, Pavel Sibera, Jan Kopecký, Emil Lindholm, and Andreas Mikkelsen.
Few brands can boast such a long history in motorsport as Škoda. It spans entire eras represented by unique cars. And it was precisely these cars that were the focus of this May’s events in Sosnová.
The programme from 11 to 14 May included events for some thirty journalists from several countries, for whom rides in the co-driver’s seat of the Fabia RS Rally2 and historic cars were arranged. They also experienced the premiere of the limited-edition Fabia Motorsport Edition (more in the article “The Fabia Gets an Exclusive Edition”). The programme continued for the public on Friday 15 May with a gathering of RS car owners, and on Saturday 16 May with the Sosnová Classic event.
The Škoda Motorsport team brought a number of its special cars, and private owners joined in with others. In the racetrack’s facilities, for example, several examples of the legendary Škoda 130 RS were on display. A unique Octavia vRS Bonneville Special also arrived from the United Kingdom, which in 2011 broke the speed record in the category of cars with a turbocharged engine up to 2.0 litres.

That’s how many devoted fans arrived in Škoda RS series cars for the meet-up in Sosnová.
Journalists and the public were able to visit the technical exhibition, where they learned about the evolution of engines, transmissions, shock absorbers, wheels, and other components of competition cars over time. Many of the models on display were not just static exhibits in the pit area but were also seen in action on the track.
There was also genuine competition in the Škoda Dealer Team Cup 2026 rally sprint. Crews from five Czech dealer teams tested their skills in three special stages. Dominik Stříteský from the Auto Podbabská Škoda Team performed the best.
Other personalities associated with the Škoda Motorsport team also arrived in Sosnová for the celebrations. The stars included, in particular, 2021 and 2023 WRC2 World Champion Andreas Mikkelsen and his teammate Emil Lindholm, the 2022 WRC2 World Champion, while figures from earlier eras were represented by Bruno Thiry and John Haugland. Czech legends such as Pavel Sibera, Emil Triner, Jan Kopecký, and Václav Blahna were also in attendance. In 1977, it was Blahna who led the now-legendary double victory of the Škoda 130 RS cars in their class at the Monte-Carlo Rally, thereby significantly contributing to the fame and popularity of the RS models.

A Gathering with an Incredible Atmosphere
Václav Blahna also oversaw the RS fans’ parade, which took place in Sosnová on Friday 15 May as part of the RS Fans Meet-up – an event to which devoted fans and owners of RS cars from all over Europe were invited. It was preceded by weeks of posts on social media showing just how excited the fans were.
The participants thoroughly enjoyed the gathering. They engaged in lively discussions, eagerly anticipated every item on the agenda, and constantly demonstrated their lasting passion for their cars. Virtually all modern Škoda RS models were represented, ranging from all generations of the Octavia RS to first- and second-generation Fabia RS models, all the way to the electric Enyaq RS.
The owners took their cars to the Škoda Museum and the Škoda Motorsport workshop, and also took them for a drive around the Sosnová circuit. Andreas Mikkelsen himself drove a select few lucky participants around the circuit in his special Fabia RS Rally2.
The Fabia Gets an Exclusive Edition
The Fabia Motorsport Edition was also officially unveiled in Sosnová, marking another celebration of Škoda Motorsport’s 125th anniversary. Only 125 units will be produced, based on the Fabia 130 model (which we featured in the November 2025 issue of Škoda Mobil). The limited series features a rally-inspired styling package and visual elements drawn from the current Fabia RS Rally2 competition car. Each limited-edition model is marked with a plaque bearing a serial number. Owners of the car will receive a certificate of origin signed by members of the Board, a transport box with the Fabia 125 logo, a pair of sports driving gloves, and a unique collector’s item – a section of the safety roll cage from the Fabia RS Rally2.
