Peaq? That's Truly the Pinnacle!
Journalists and other content creators had to travel all the way to the top of a mountain on the border between France and Switzerland for the premiere of our new flagship model. Most took a cable car painted in the carmaker's colours, but some set off on bikes. No one regretted it. The Peaq, a seven-seat electric SUV, proved to be the true pinnacle of Škoda's lineup.
Peaq Honours Its Name – A True Peak
The new flagship from Škoda is a sophisticated and exceptionally spacious SUV with up to seven seats. It offers top-level comfort and a range of new technologies, including retractable door handles and a vertical central display.
Feature
Following the most compact electric car in the Škoda range comes the largest and most spacious. Meet the new SUV Peaq! With it, the Czech carmaker enters the large electric SUV segment for the first time, bringing not only new dimensions but also new technologies and design solutions.

The Peaq is even bigger than its combustion-engine counterpart, the Kodiaq, and offers exceptional comfort for up to seven occupants. Three power variants are available, including all-wheel drive, along with two battery options by capacity. The range on a single charge can exceed 640 kilometres. The car also comes with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems and safety features, a choice of four interior variants, and the sportier Sportline version. As with the Epiq, the Peaq supports convenient one-pedal driving and two-way charging, along with a host of other clever solutions.
Door Handles That Won't Trap Fingers and Can Handle Frost
One of the new solutions introduced by Škoda also contributes to the clean design of the Peaq – flush door handles. For the development team, this meant creating sufficient installation space to accommodate both the mechanism and the electric actuator. The handle extends automatically when the car is unlocked. A key challenge during development was fine-tuning the production process, including tolerances in the Press Shop, Body Shop and assembly, as well as a number of important details, such as the risk of the handle freezing. This is addressed by a gradual increase in the extension force if the mechanism detects increased resistance. Safety of the entire element was an absolutely critical consideration. The door lock operation via both the outer and inner handle remains mechanical. The electric extension itself also has a backup solution – an energy reserve in the door control unit and the ability to extend the handle mechanically. Thanks to the indirect drive used for retracting the handle, there is also no risk of users catching their fingers in it.

For the first time, the door handle acts as an active mechatronic element that must reliably respond to various inputs, such as unlocking, user approach or emergency scenarios.
The Panoramic Roof Glass Is Enormous – and Smart with It
No Škoda car has ever had a panoramic roof this large. At 2,1 m2, it ranks among the biggest found on any passenger car. But that is not where its distinctiveness ends. While previous models paired it with a fabric roller blind, the Peaq uses advanced PDLC smart glass technology (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal). This allows the transparency of the glass to be changed instantly and easily via the infotainment system or a touch button on the overhead console – including independently across nine segments, so each passenger can adjust the shading to their preference. Preset modes are also available, and when the car is parked the roof switches automatically to privacy mode. Special coatings on the glass surface further enhance interior comfort by reducing heat and solar radiation transmission.

Glass cannot be shaped as flexibly as metal or plastics, and any deviation or waviness is immediately visible on its surface. This is why exceptionally tight manufacturing tolerances and a high surface quality were essential. The larger the glass area, the more demanding the entire process becomes.
The Interior Works Brilliantly Even Beyond the Drive
The Peaq draws on the Vision 7S study and develops the ideas of the Modern Solid design language. The development team focused on a modern, clean and timeless space that would be as functional as possible for everyday use, offering a high level of roominess and comfort for up to seven passengers. Simply Clever features contribute to this – for example, an integrated table in the centre console that expands the car's versatility during breaks on long journeys. Considerable attention was also paid to mobile devices: a more advanced magnetic system now provides efficient wireless charging and secure phone mounting.

The vertical display has allowed us to create a more intuitive user environment while also improving the organisation of digital content. To make controlling the car as natural and comfortable as possible while driving, we combine modern touch controls with physical controls for the most frequently used functions.
