Diversity Day was part of European Diversity Month and once again showed that openness to differences is a genuine part of our corporate culture, reaffirming that diversity matters. The official programme was opened by Maren Gräf, Board Member for People & Culture, who noted that diversity is not "someone else's" issue. "In both my professional and personal life, I am convinced that diversity and inclusion today are not just an added value, but a necessity," she said.
This principle was then reflected in an experiment involving Jan Frydrych, Head of SP – HR Planning & Governance, and Lukáš Folc, Head of FC – Controlling. M. Gräf asked them questions that women commonly hear in the workplace – such as "Have you ever thought that you were chosen for your current position precisely because you are a man?" or "Do you think your appearance helped you get promoted?" This experiment sparked a discussion about the biases and double standards that women still encounter in their working lives.
The keynote guest was sporting legend Kateřina Neumannová. In her talk, she shared her experience of overcoming obstacles, finding inner motivation and the importance of resilience on the path to success. She spoke openly about her return from maternity leave and her journey back to elite sport.
The highlight of the day was revealing the faces behind the stories from the exhibition on the ground floor of Block D in the LKK building, where, even before the event, attendees could read authentic, anonymous life stories of their colleagues. It was only on Diversity Day that the people behind the individual stories were revealed. Powerful life experiences were given concrete faces and created space for reflection, empathy and personal connection. On stage were Dominik Alvarez (GQF/1), who spoke about fatherhood, his experience of racism and the determination to do things differently; Tereza Kupcová (BC/1), whose story centred on pregnancy loss; and Jana Kavalírová (PPS-A), who spoke about coming to terms with a change in her appearance and using humour as a way to move forward. Their authentic stories were among the most powerful moments of the programme, and many visitors identified with them.
CEO Klaus Zellmer spontaneously joined the event and personally expressed his support, respect and gratitude to the participants for their courage in sharing their life experiences. His empathetic words were a strong source of support for everyone and a tribute to their openness.
The afternoon session featured the "Diversity of Beauty" workshop, focused on self-confidence, authenticity and personal style. Throughout the day, interactive pop-ups and activities designed to experience diversity with all the senses were set up in the LKK lobby. The programme also included stands from the employee groups Internationals, WomeN@Work and Škoda Proud.

I shared my story with others because it might offer someone a new perspective, or show someone else that it's okay to talk about things that hurt us. I really hope that, above all, the audience took away the message that they don't have to go through anything alone – that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, but quite the opposite.

My talk was not only therapeutic for me, but I also wanted to help raise awareness of the autoimmune condition alopecia. To be honest, it wasn't easy at all to take off my wig in front of so many people and share my whole story in such a short time. I would like people to take away the message that hair loss isn't necessarily linked only to chemotherapy.

My story was about pregnancy loss, which is still a social taboo. I hope my step will give other women the courage to talk about their losses if they feel it will help them. Sharing has tremendous healing power. And we're not alone in this.
