AI Is Becoming Škoda Auto’s Operating System
The carmaker has established its artificial intelligence strategy, which it aims to integrate into every process.
Artificial intelligence is no longer just a tool for IT cost savings. At Škoda Auto, it is taking shape as something far more fundamental: a new operating system for the entire automaker. The vision is clear: artificial intelligence in every process. This is not a technological experiment, but a concrete plan that stems directly from the company’s Next Level Škoda strategy, specifically the High Performance Organization 2.0 initiative. It will deliver measurable results and clear benefits for both the automaker and its employees in the form of increased efficiency. AI significantly boosts developers’ productivity, assists in identifying security vulnerabilities during the development process, and democratizes software development – enabling colleagues from fields other than IT to get involved in coding as well.

Three Key Areas
The automaker is focusing its AI activities on three interconnected areas. The first is employee personal efficiency – smart tools are naturally intended to become part of daily work in a way that truly makes people’s lives easier, not by adding yet another system that needs to be mastered. The specific goal is to increase the rate of AI usage among employees by 25 percent compared to the baseline measurement from the first quarter of this year. The second area tracks entire processes from start to finish with an emphasis on process efficiency. The third area is called “Value Stars,” which encompasses flagship projects of significant value. They address key problem areas in processes and deliver measurable returns. The goal is to implement three to five major projects with substantial savings.
What remains unchanged is the importance of cross-departmental collaboration within the automaker. Without it, an idea cannot be brought to large-scale implementation. Digitalization centers play a key role (we described them in Škoda Mobil 5/2025), identifying opportunities for AI use and analyzing their business value. Depending on the level of complexity, departments within the FI – Information Technology division, and possibly external partners, then collaborate on implementation.
Technological Foundation
Behind the strategy lies a well-thought-out technological architecture. It will include among others the new ŠkoPilot platform, which will offer a unified repository of approved AI agents and serve as the control panel for the entire system. The infrastructure combines cloud services, an in-house data center, and local AI models for processes where data sovereignty is critical or where cloud processing would be too costly.
