The Tool Shop is a Modern Production Facility
PSW-V acts as an internal supplier of production solutions – from design and simulation through to the launch of complete production lines. As well as welding shops, it is increasingly developing automation and projects related to battery production.
The PSW-V– Jig Manucafture department is part of the Tool Shop and is one of the traditional yet less visible parts of the carmaker. For the welding shops, it designs and builds complete production lines, mainly for side doors and tailgates – from the first simulations through development to final commissioning. Thanks to its own experts and years of know-how, it works as an internal supplier integrated directly into the carmaker's processes. This brings a number of advantages. "We have important internal know-how, long-term experience and the traditional craftsmanship of Škoda employees," says Martin Syrovátka, Head of PSW-V. Most recently, for example, the Tool Shop prepared a line for welding the doors of the large electric SUV Peaq. "The doors of current Škoda models, except for the compact electric car Epiq, are produced on lines we have created," notes M. Syrovátka.
International Cooperation
PSW-V does not, however, work only for Škoda Auto's Czech plants. It has, for example, completed a project for the Superb made in Bratislava, and the Tool Shop in Pune, India, also comes under its remit. "We work with the team there on our projects too, for instance on the use of more cost-effective materials. And right now we're preparing trim equipment in the Czech Republic for a new Indian project," says M. Syrovátka, adding that the Mladá Boleslav Tool Shop also developed some sub-solutions for production of the Kylaq and Slavia.
Supporting the Development of Electromobility
The Tool Shop also supplies its solutions to customers within the VW Group. "We've worked on projects in Germany and Hungary; for example, we built three pre-series battery centres for Audi," lists M. Syrovátka. The Tool Shop also helped build a pre-series centre (VSC) for battery production in Hall M6 in Mladá Boleslav (more on this in Škoda Mobil 5/2026). "Automation and solutions for battery production are the direction in which we are developing intensively," explains M. Syrovátka. The Tool Shop is therefore currently working not only on projects to increase production capacity in Kvasiny, but also on an automation project in Vrchlabí and on the further development of battery production at Škoda Auto and the VW Group.

I see the Škoda Auto Tool Shop as a supplier with unique know-how in the field of flanging equipment, which stands up well even compared with external companies.

I hope the Tool Shop stays at full strength – its ability to reach optimal quality quickly is exactly what Škoda Auto needs today.
