The Epiq Shines in a Hockey Town

The compact electric crossover made its debut in Zurich, Switzerland, where the Ice Hockey World Championship was held in May.

Feature

Where else to unveil a new Škoda car than at the venue of the world championship? The Czech carmaker has been the main sponsor of this event for 33 years and traditionally shows its cars right next to the ice rink, in full view of all spectators. This year, the line-up included the new Epiq, which shed its camouflage during the tournament (read about how that happened on here). The official world premiere took place on 19 May at Zurich's Umwelt Arena, attended by around 350 journalists from 30 countries. The car was presented by Klaus Zellmer, CEO, together with Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, and Johannes Neft, Board Member for Technical Development.

"The Epiq is our most approachable step into electric mobility – compact, confident, unmistakably Škoda, and designed to deliver exceptional value for money. It sets a clear benchmark for what an entry-level electric model should be: clean, purposeful design, intuitive user experience, and genuine everyday value," described K. Zellmer, who highlighted the model's origins in the joint Electric Urban Car Family project of the Brand Group Core, the Group's volume brands.

The model's affordability is intended to attract a wider range of drivers to electric mobility. "The Epiq is designed to fit naturally into daily life, whether in the city or beyond, making it an attractive choice for new customers as well as those already familiar with the brand," explained M. Jahn, when describing who the new model is aimed at.

Launch on the Czech Market

Since its world premiere, Škoda's new electric vehicle has been available on the Czech market and can also be found in the configurator. The range starts with the most powerful version, the Epiq 55, available through the introductory START series from 779,000 CZK including VAT. At launch, customers can also choose the limited First Edition series with a wealth of exclusive features. Its price is 923,000 CZK. The most affordable version, designed mainly for urban and suburban driving, will arrive later, and its base price of around 619,000 CZK is still to be confirmed. Visitors to the Legendy 2026 automotive festival in Prague's Holešovice district from 29 to 31 May got a first look at the car during its national exhibition premiere.
