WEEKLY
FOR ŠKODA AUTO EMPLOYEES
MEASURES
AND STATE OF
EMERGENCY
EXTENDED
Dear colleagues, The state of emergency
in the Czech Republic was extended until
the end of February 2021. The situation
around the coronavirus pandemic in the
Czech Republic remains very serious: the
numbers of infected and hospitalized
patients are very high and new virus
mutations are spreading fast. To stop the
spread of COVID-19, all of the existing
Safe Production and Safe Office
restrictions & measures that ŠKODA
AUTO has adopted in cooperation with
the KOVO Trade Union remain
unchanged and need to be followed
consistently.
Effective as of 12 February 2021 for
the period of 14 days until 26
February 2021, increased measures
apply in the Vrchlabí plant (read here).
Thank you for your support!
The overview of all current rules and
measures related to COVID-19 is

ŠKODA OFFERS FIRST GLIMPSE
OF THE NEW FABIA
ŠKODA gives a first preview of the fourth-generation FABIA. In a silhouette image, the
roofline hints at the new proportions of the small car, which is based on the Volkswagen
Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit MQB-A0 for the first time. This platform enhances
the interior space and supports the use of state-of-the-art assistance systems and
connectivity features. The new FABIA is powered by the latest generation of petrol
engines, making it perfect for young families and recent graduates or as an ideal second
car. The world premiere of the new ŠKODA FABIA is set for spring 2021.
Take a look back at how the first generation of ŠKODA FABIA was born back in the past century.
Recall the story with ŠKODA Storyboard.
HOW
A VETERAN
CONQUERED
DAKAR
ONE OF THE CLOSELY WATCHED PARTICIPANTS IN
THIS YEAR’S DAKAR RALLY WAS A ŠKODA 130 LR.
ALTHOUGH IT TOOK PART IN THE VETERANS’
CATEGORY AND HAD AN EXPERIENCED CREW, IT WAS
THIS MODEL’S FIRST-EVER START IN THE DESERT.
“The car was pushed to its limits: we covered over 9,000
kilometres some days, so there’s not much time for stripping
down the car and putting it back together again. Although
the components were made to the original design out of
modern materials, fatigue is unavoidable. Few people get
through an event as tough as that without any breakdowns.
Things go wrong even on the most rugged, specially made
vehicles. What’s more, our car was a veteran,” says driver
Ondřej Klymčiw. He and his navigator Petr Vlček had both
taken part in the event four times before. On motorbikes.
More about ŠKODA 130 LR on this year's Rally Dakar
was writtten at ŠKODA Storyboard.
ŠKODA AUTO AND ČEZ TO BUILD
NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT
We are increasingly focusing on renewable energy and today, ŠKODA
AUTO CEO Thomas Schäfer and Daniel Beneš, CEO of the ČEZ
Group, agreed to expand collaboration between ŠKODA AUTO and
energy supplier ČEZ. From the second half of this decade, the energy
required for the manufacture of vehicles and components at ŠKODA
AUTO’s Czech plants will come entirely from renewable sources.
The next joint project between ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ is the
construction of the largest roof photovoltaic system in the Czech
Republic, which is set to be connected to the grid at ŠKODA AUTO’s
headquarters in Mladá Boleslav later this year.
