  • Game version of the concept

Škoda Auto enters the legendary Gran Turismo game series with the addition of the unique Vision Gran Turismo electric racing car concept in the seventh instalment of the series. Although it is essentially a purely virtual creation, the official unveiling of this gaming car was comparable to the premieres of real models. In fact, more virtual models are expected to debut soon in this famous game.

    Full throttle in Gran Turismo

The Škoda brand has entered the legendary game series by incorporating the unique Vision Gran Turismo electric racing car concept.

Škoda Auto unveiled the next phase in the development of its previously launched Vision Gran Turismo concept. This largely virtual study, for which a physical 1:4 scale model was created, has now made its grand entrance into the seventh instalment of the Gran Turismo racing series for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms. Škoda‘s presence in this famous game will expand, with more models coming soon.

Previously, the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo appeared in red, a reference to the sporty 1100 OHC model from the late 1950s and early 1960s. This model served as a design inspiration in 2022, when the 1100 OHC and the downsized Vision GT were showcased together at the Design and Transformation exhibition in Brussels.

“The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo bridges our rich history with the electric future and the new Modern Solid design language. Our customers are explorers, and the elegant Škoda Vision Gran Turismo is a great way to enrich their experience while attracting new fans of our brand,” said Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO, regarding the launch.

    Sophisticated technology

The Gran Turismo game series is celebrated for its realistic and detailed level of driving simulation. That is why Škoda Vision Gran Turismo features specific technical specifications and some surprising details that help define how the car behaves in the game. The Vision Gran Turismo is thus powered by four electric motors, two on each axle. Each of these has a power output of 200 kW, giving the car a total of 800 kW (roughly 1,070 hp). Despite its high-capacity battery, the car weighs only 1,300 kilogrammes. This is due not only to the advanced design but also to the use of high-tech materials, such as carbon fibre. These materials are used for both the car‘s monocoque and its removable body. Great handling is ensured by the power management of the individual electric motors in combination with the independent push-rod suspension, similar to those used in Formula E racing specials. The Vision Gran Turismo also features active aerodynamic elements.

The Vision Gran Turismo was developed differently than the serial car. Typically, we first define its entire interior space and then work out the details; however, here we started from what is most visible in the racing cockpit, the steering wheel. It includes all the necessary gameplay elements, and the design of the whole cockpit builds on it.

All with the driver in mind

The Vision Gran Turismo concept is completely designed with the driver in mind. The driver sits in a minimalist cockpit inspired by formula cars, designed to allow maximum concentration on the race track itself.

The exterior design is a nod to the legendary Škoda 1100 OHC track special, which, unfortunately, never had its own racing career. “We wished to make up for it in this virtual way and pay tribute to it,” says Franck Le Gall, Projectmanager design – special projects at EDE – Design exterior.

In the game, players can take their Vision Gran Turismo for a ride in two colours. The options include the elegant green Explorer colour inspired by the Vision 7S concept and the historic racing colours, white with details in blue and red, as featured on the Škoda 130 RS race cars during their famous class victory in the 1977 Rally Monte-Carlo.

Martin Porteš, Projectmanager Design – EV, Midsize from EDG – Design Management, is responsible for the integration of the Škoda brand into Gran Turismo 7. “My goal from the beginning was to make the car not only look good in the game, but to make it one of the best in its category,” said Porteš. The carmaker wants to showcase its other models in the title, which already features over 400 cars from more than 60 manufacturers. Fans of the game will find out which ones in due course.

    Amazing speed feeling

The official unveiling of the Škoda Vision Gran Turismo was a spectacular event. Top eSport racers demonstrated how to drive the car.

Although the Vision Gran Turismo is essentially a purely virtual creation, the unveiling of this exceptional gaming car was as significant as the premieres of the real models. At the PLAYzone Arena in Prague, for example, professional racers introduced the novelty to the world, and every visitor could try it out.

The presence of Klaus Zellmer, the Škoda Auto CEO, and Oliver Stefani, Head of ED – Škoda Design, underscored the importance of this event for the carmaker. Kazunori Yamauchi, author of the Gran Turismo game series and head of Polyphony Digital, the studio developing the game, was a special guest. “I wish to congratulate Škoda Auto on a great car. I’m happy that we have established our collaboration. The Škoda brand has one of the richest histories in the automotive world, and I have long wished for our Gran Turismo players to get to know it. The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo is now the first opportunity, but I can reveal that this is just the beginning of our relationship,” said Yamauchi at the premiere.

The Škoda Vision Gran Turismo was presented to the world in more detail through a virtual race, which was streamed online for viewers around the world. Six drivers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain and Italy were behind the wheel at the PLAYzone Arena. The competition spanned 11 laps on the famous Belgian circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, with the first half of the race featuring some fierce battles and dramatic moments. In the end, the winner was Italian eSport driver Amos Laurito, followed closely by Lucas Ordonez from Spain and Czech pilot Petr Semerád.

“I feel that this is one of the best cars in the game. The speed feeling is amazing, and the car is incredible in fast turns. However, staying focused on the track and paying attention is crucial, especially in the slower turns where you can gain and lose a lot of time. The car is very strong, and the power delivery in the slow sections must be precise,” said Laurito, the winner, shortly after the race.

    Petr Semerád‘s view

Petr Semerád, a Czech racing driver who excels in both rally and track disciplines, also custom-builds simulators similar to those used by Škoda Auto for the première of the Vision Gran Turismo at the PLAYzone Arena. “The Vision Gran Turismo is certainly an interesting preview of the future and a nice diversification for the Škoda brand and the game itself. The car is unbelievably fast, with incredible performance that we’re not used to from regular cars. And that means that it demands attention in the game because Gran Turismo is one of those titles that can offer a pleasantly realistic experience,” says the racer.

A sustainable road to connect the villages

The Škoda brand supported a road construction project for a cut-off village in India. Recycled plastics were used in the road construction as well.

The road construction project for the village of Kolavadai is featured in a video.

    From the world

Kolavadai is a small village located in the Pune region, where Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has a manufacturing plant. Until recently, its unpaved dirt roads, which are muddy and filled with puddles during the rainy season, provided the only connection to the surrounding areas. This left the locals severely cut off from the outside world and made life very difficult for them. However, earlier this year, the construction of a 2.5-km road brought a big change, with Škoda playing a major role in the project.

    2.5

Customers collected 2.5 tonnes of plastic waste for the construction of this road.

    1,700

Residents of Kolavadai now enjoy a better connection to the outside world thanks to the new road.

The new paved road was created thanks to the Responsible Exploration campaign, which encourages customers to collect single-use plastics, especially empty water bottles, during their travels and drop them off at their nearest Škoda dealerships. This plastic is then recycled and used in road construction in collaboration with local authorities and the non-profit organisation Keshav Sita Trust, as demonstrated in Kolavadai. The use of plastic chippings not only recycles waste but also extend the life of the roads.

The Responsible Exploration project focuses on balancing development, accessibility and environmental responsibility while contemplating the future of both rural and urban areas. The activity aligns perfectly with Škoda Auto’s approach to corporate social responsibility to help empower communities, promote sustainability and support the circular economy.

    A stronger sense of community

In an interview, Thomas Schäfer, Board Member of the VW Group responsible for Brand Group Core and CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand, reflected on the performance of the volume brand group to date. Read what the former CEO of Škoda Auto also had to say in it.

    On team spirit

“We have become more systematic and more closely interlinked. There are now lots of projects where collaboration goes beyond the old brand boundaries. And that hasn‘t always been the case. On a human level, we have also come together as a team. Of course, our colleagues in the Czech Republic, Spain and Germany identify with their brands first and foremost. And that‘s the way it should be. But at the same time, the sense of community is growing all the time because everyone realises that cooperation makes us stronger.”

    On the importance of networking

“The transformation and current economic environment are all challenging us to the extreme. Particularly in this critical phase, we need to make full use of our strengths as a brand group by sharing our knowledge and working together on the best solutions. We need to avoid performing the same work twice and three times over.”

    About our achievements

“We have managed to clearly outline the core of the individual brands. Take our small BEV project, for example, which is being developed in Spain under the leadership of SEAT/CUPRA. CUPRA Raval, the series‑production version of the ID.2all show car and Škoda Epiq will be launched in stages from the end of 2025 – and in terms of content, their differences will be clear and sensational. Customers will not believe that these three models are built on the same platform.”

On the strengths of the brands

“Škoda is traditionally good at generating a great deal of success from very little. The team at Commercial Vehicles are incredibly focused on their customers and CUPRA has proven that it has really mastered the issues of design and emotion. If you now add Volkswagen‘s market size and engineering expertise, you have a really strong overall team.”

    Biodiversity conservation

    Nature as a functioning ecosystem

Insect houses offer a home for ladybirds, green lacewings and earwigs.

Around the world, 22 May is celebrated as International Biodiversity Day. This day reminds us of the importance of biodiversity – the natural wealth that includes the diversity of all genes, species and ecosystems – to human society and the planet. Protecting nature’s diversity is crucial for coping with climate change, limiting the spread of new diseases and ensuring food and water security. Although human activity is reducing overall species diversity, you can observe the state of biodiversity on a small scale: in a region, a mountain valley, lake waters, a forest, a patch of meadow or even just your garden.

    The transformation of Czech forests

A prime example of the low resilience of a species-poor environment is the bark beetle calamity that started 20 years ago in northern Moravia. It has since progressed westwards through the country, escalating during the dry and warm years of 2014–2018. Although it has weakened, it has not yet ended. This calamity has caused considerable damage in the Czech Republic, leaving the harvested spruce forests looking devastated. However, research by Czech scientists has brought surprisingly good news: Nature is recovering, biodiversity has increased significantly, and bark beetle–infested economic forests, including clearings and newly planted or spontaneously developing clearings, are teeming with life. Unexpectedly, dozens of critically endangered, red-listed species of animals and plants have also appeared.

So, if we want not only the forest but also our garden to be beautiful, healthy and productive, we must respect every living creature and strive to establish a biological balance. This means that soil, micro-organisms, plants and animals are in a balanced relationship with each other. Such a garden then becomes a small miracle – a functioning ecosystem.

    Initiatives of the carmaker

Škoda Auto actively supports actions aimed at protecting and promoting biodiversity and ecosystems. The company is investing in essential measures to mitigate biodiversity loss and climate change. To uphold all its commitments, it maintains and plants biodiverse green spaces (through the Škoda Trees programme) and manages 206.7 hectares of biodiverse forest on its test track, which supports the ecosystems that depend on this green space, including vulnerable pollinators. To monitor risks and impacts, Škoda Auto maintains a list of protected areas and biodiversity hotspots within 10 km of its production sites and avoids forest land when selecting sites for development projects, preferring to invest in existing or disused sites.

The carmaker regularly cooperates with the local Czech Union for Nature Conservation and the Krkonoše National Park Authority on its projects. In 2022, with the help of employee volunteers, it created a new area dedicated to biodiversity near the Administrative Centre in Mladá Boleslav. Last year, the Škoda Auto sites in Kosmonosy, Na Karmeli and Kvasiny saw the installation of insect houses, providing a home for common insects like ladybirds, green lacewings and earwigs, which are beneficial in pest control without using chemical products. Bumblebees and solitary bees, which pollinate mainly fruit trees, also benefit from these houses.

    Krakonoš’s gardens

The carmaker also supports a number of projects through the grant programme Krakonoš Gardens of the Škoda Auto Endowment Fund. For example, in 2023, projects were implemented focusing on the return of critically endangered species to the landscape, the construction of new pools in the Dymokurské meadows nature monument and the village of Vlčí Pole in the Mladá Boleslav region. At these sites, conservationists have now recorded rare amphibians – the European tree frog, the fire-bellied toad, the common toad, the smooth newt, the agile frog, and the common frog. Another of the supported projects focuses on the return of the critically endangered Apollo butterfly to Czech nature.

    Tip

    Did you know...

... up to 80% of plants are pollinated by insects and almost 90% of crops for human food come from flowering plants? This underscores the importance of protecting insects, even in cities. Insect houses offer these tiny creatures ample shelter and a place to lay their larvae, attracting them even to typical urban developments.

    Have a feel-good coffee

The carmaker is gradually introducing its own brand of sustainable coffee, Curiosity Fuel, which will be available across all Czech operations starting this summer.

    Sustainability

Combining the pleasant with the useful, Škoda Auto has successfully begun supplying its own brand of coffee to its production and administrative facilities, where around 25 tonnes a year are consumed. Since last October, this initiative has gradually expanded, featuring coffee that is not only high-quality but also the result of sustainable production.

It all starts with the growers – carefully selected family farms in India and Tanzania that adhere to the Rainforest Alliance guidelines for socially and environmentally responsible practices. These guidelines ensure respect for nature and the farmers throughout the entire production process. Škoda Auto, which also has the Group’s responsibility for the Indian market, plans to support a local school near the coffee plantations by improving its facilities.

Every sip of our Curiosity Fuel coffee can inspire more ideas on how to reduce our environmental footprint even more effectively.

    Karsten Schnake

    Board Member for Procurement

    Closing the loop

The coffee beans are transported from the plantations to the Czech Republic, where they are processed by the family-run Jablum roasting plant in Bezděčín. “With our Curiosity Fuel coffee, we support fair and transparent practices from cultivation to the preparation of the final product, and we embrace the principles of the circular economy by re-using the waste raw material from coffee production,” explained Karsten Schnake, Board Member for Procurement.

The husks of the coffee beans, which are usually discarded at the farms, are also used. Škoda Auto, together with its supplier Bader, has previously developed a process to use this waste product in tanning leather for the seat covers of the Kodiaq and Octavia models featuring the Suite interior. The carmaker is now also working on using the husks from its own coffee brand for this purpose.

The story behind the coffee, reflecting its name, Curiosity Fuel, aims to be the fuel that drives curiosity in the search for sustainable solutions throughout the value chain.

    Info

As of 30 April, only Curiosity Fuel is available via the internal ordering system, and it is no longer possible to order beans from the current Fast ČR supplier. This change does not affect the coffee machine capsules, however, and they are still available in the catalogue.

Help to meet the sustainability goals

In April, the VW Group introduced a new sustainability strategy called regenerate+ to its employees. It builds on the Group‘s vision to become a provider of sustainable mobility for future generations and is based on a holistic concept of sustainability. It is divided into four main dimensions: nature, employees, society and business. “We take responsibility, create positive values and cultivate a future worth living in,” says Dirk Voeste, Chief Sustainability Officer of the VW Group.

Since 15 April, the individual details and objectives of the regenerate+ week have been presented to Group employees in various formats. The activities symbolically culminated on this year‘s global Earth Day on 22 April. However, this is not the end of the VW Group‘s efforts; further activities, employee meetings or roundtables are being prepared to continue to communicate the topic of sustainability.

The VW Group emphasizes that by taking a proactive approach, every employee can contribute to the sustainability goals and help co-create a better future for all. Through the learning challenge, you too can get involved. Anyone can share their sustainability ideas, campaigns, projects or planned activities at regenerateplus.vwag.r.wob@volkswagen.de.  Detailed information on the regenerate+ strategy can be found here.

  • Two-day logistics school

Brand Logistics and plant logistics organised the 9th edition of the popular Logistics Discussion Forum for students from the Škoda Auto Vocational School (SOUs). This year’s focus was on creating the best logistics company with the highest profit. The students were divided into teams, and through theoretical and practical tasks, they tried out various activities that form part of the logistics field.

    Logistics company for two days

Brand Logistics, in collaboration with plant logistics, organised the 9th round of the popular Logistics Discussion Forum for the Škoda Auto Vocational School students. This edition featured a non-traditional competition format.

Over two days in March, 131 students from the Škoda Auto Vocational School (SOUs) experienced the full cycle of a logistics company, from its establishment to the dispatch of finished cars. Students from the Transport Operation and Economics – Industrial Logistics Technician and Warehouse Operator courses were divided into teams and tried out several activities in the field of logistics through both theoretical and practical tasks. At the same time, they had the unique opportunity to meet top management representatives from Škoda Auto and the KOVO Trade Union. Following an invitation from the sponsor of this project, David Strnad, Head of PL – Brand Logistics department, the event was attended by Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics, Jaroslav Povšík, Chairman of the KOVO Trade Union, Martin Slabihoudek, Director of the Škoda Auto Vocational School, and other guests.

Logistics is a vital part of operations. It never stops and must adapt to ongoing challenges.

    Creative start

The students formed eight teams, each representing a start-up logistics company. After getting to know each other, they got straight down to their tasks at hand. Each team came up with a name and then created a logo and promotional materials to establish their corporate identity.

This year’s competition aimed to find the best logistics company with the highest profit. On the first day, the students tried to “earn” money: They gained points by completing tasks like theoretical assignments.

    Logistical challenges

The following day focused on practical applications, with students completing their tasks directly in the plants. For example, they managed the loading of finished cars using the correct codes and checked the vehicles’ readiness before departure. There were also tasks testing manual dexterity and speed. These included a test of accuracy in operating forklift models. Students with a driving licence tested their driving accuracy by operating a real forklift instead of a model. This was also a good time to practise first aid, which is a crucial skill.

Other tasks included identifying damaged parts, assembling and disassembling a sequential trolley, identifying various parts, recognising logistics equipment blindfolded, preparing parts for production, including minor pre-assembly and, of course, picking up parts according to a sequential layout.

Securing the necessary parts for production was essential in the team competition, as was demonstrating communication skills in negotiating a quick truck clearance. The teams could track their movements through the logistics operations and their progress in the competition via a special application.

    Winners announced

The event culminated on 25 March with the announcement of the results at the Service Training Centre in Kosmonosy.

At the ceremony, Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics, said that the Logistics Discussion Forum highlighted the excellent cooperation between Škoda Auto and the Škoda Auto Vocational School. “Since 2014, more than 100 school graduates have joined us at Škoda Auto. This year’s forum moderators, Daniela Mašková and Jan Chadima, are examples of such successful graduates,” he noted.

The guests then announced the team with the best corporate identity, the overall best team of the Logistics Discussion Forum 2024 and the best individuals. This year’s winners were Kateřina Knopová, Michaela Ivanova and Vojtěch Podruh. The ceremony also provided an opportunity to announce the winners of the competition for the best innovative logistics projects of the past year.

    Adéla Machotová

    Warehouse operator, 2nd year

This year’s Discussion Forum showed us how logistics functions in everyday life and allowed us to experience different situations in practice than at school. What I found interesting was Hall D10 with the parts dispatch centre, where we were tasked with loading boxes into the truck on time and making sure they all fit. This event is especially beneficial for first-year students to understand how it all works. Plus, you get to meet new people and try out activities that are not usually accessible.

    Vojtěch Podruh

Transport Operations and Economics, 3rd year

I appreciate the spread of activities over two days this year, which allows us to tackle both theoretical and practical tasks. The Discussion Forum improves my understanding of the processes that I only know in part from theoretical classes. For example, I realised how big a role correct task distribution plays in teamwork. I’m eager to see where the event will go next year.

    Dominik Stoklas

Transport Operations and Economics, 4th year

Thanks to the Discussion Forum, I can see things I previously only knew from school work, and I get to visit parts of the plant that I didn’t see during my internships. I also learned how logistics operations are carried out at Škoda Auto. I was interested to see how much communication takes place within the plant and beyond. The entire event was well organised, and I like that they try to provide as many opportunities as possible for the students. I gained new experiences that I will use in my final exams, and I had the chance to connect with people from the school.

Events are scheduled for 6 May in Mladá Boleslav, 7 May in Kvasiny and 9 May in Vrchlabí, including a demonstration of two cars from the official fleet, a photo shoot with Škoda mascot Felix, skill-based hockey competitions and a guessing game for interesting prizes.

    Cheer with Škoda Auto

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will begin on 10 May, but Škoda Auto is already gearing up to engage its employees.

As part of the “Score with ZEBRA” incentive, the most successful innovators in two categories (proposal contributions by author’s share and proposal success rate) will be rewarded. In each category, the top five will be selected to receive two tickets to the Czech team’s matches against Finland and Canada.

Everyone else will be able to tune in to the ice hockey spirit on 6 May at the Mladá Boleslav premises at Gate 13, on 7 May in Kvasiny at the main gate and on 9 May in Vrchlabí again at the main gate, from noon to 3 pm each day. You can look forward to seeing two exclusive cars from the official Ice Hockey World Championship fleet: the new Kodiaq and the facelifted Octavia. There will be a photo shoot with the Škoda mascot Felix and a photo booth to take commemorative photos with props from the ice hockey environment, as well as hockey skills competitions and a signing area reserved for messages of support from our employees for the Czech ice hockey players. This message wall will be presented to the national team by Škoda Auto in cooperation with the Czech Ice Hockey Association. In return, the national team will sign three jerseys to be awarded in a guessing contest organised by the association, where participants have to predict the exact number of goals scored by the Czech national team throughout the tournament. Winners will receive one of the signed jerseys or a hockey-themed cap or scarf.

Successful participants in the skills competition will be able to take away Championship-themed gifts, such as paper helmets or Škoda hockey pucks. The involvement of in-house trainees, who will manage all the attractions and stands, will certainly be a nice touch and will enhance the experience for the visitors. If you enjoy ice hockey, you won’t want to miss this. Keep an eye on the Škoda Space Škoda Space invitations for more information.

    Ice hockey curiosities

Tickets for the matches played in Prague and Ostrava are available via the official website, www.iihf.com. As the kick-off approaches, the number of available tickets is decreasing. However, you can always enjoy the atmosphere of the ice hockey matches, including the accompanying programme, at the official fan zones located near the Prague arena and in the parking lot of the Ostrava arena.

Fans will be entertained not only in the ice hockey arenas but also by the well-known mascots, Bob and Bobek. This year, however, the rabbits from the hat will wear blue jerseys with the logo and will have the numbers 20 and 24 on their backs, together representing the year of the event.

The central motif of this year’s logo is a puck – not just any puck, but one that embodies as much emotion as the fans watching the thrilling battles on the ice. That is why a whole set of these “puckticons” was created. The puck, players and, of course, the fans are the heart of ice hockey. This is also reflected in the official slogan of this year’s Ice Hockey World Championship: Heart of the Game. The medals awarded to the top three teams also boast an original look that pay homage to the domestic traditional art of glassmaking. Crystal glass resembling ice is set in a circular metal frame with grooves symbolising skate marks.

  • Development of digital assistants

Digiteq Automotive, a subsidiary of automotive software developer Cariad, showcased several projects at Digiteq Day @Škoda 2024. Among the innovations that will soon be put into series production is a braking assistant designed to detect pedestrians behind the car while it is reversing. Another novelty that Digiteq is developing is an assistant for reversing along a previously travelled route.

    Report

    Innovations from colleagues

Digiteq Automotive, a subsidiary of the automotive company and group software developer Cariad, presented several selected projects in Bezděčín in March.

During the two-day Digiteq Day @Škoda 2024 fair, the carmaker’s employees and management had the opportunity to see the company’s capabilities and current projects. An important new feature, which will soon be part of serial production, is an emergency braking assistant for pedestrians who might appear behind the car. Digiteq Automotive’s solution relies solely on the rear camera to detect them. “The main challenge is reproducing 3D space by using just one camera, which is like looking with only one eye. However, compared with ultrasound, the camera responds more quickly and features a wider field of view. As a result, the camera can also see just behind the car’s bumper, where ultrasound or radar can’t reach,” explains Jan Rychna, project manager.

Visitors to the event had the chance to try out this feature in practice, and it performed very well. The car stopped reliably and decisively about 30 centimetres in front of a dummy. At very low speeds, the system allows the car to stop very close.

Another interesting innovation that Digiteq is developing is an assistant for reversing a previously travelled route. The car will remember the last segment of the route and will be able to reverse it autonomously.

Digiteq Automotive helps us to open up horizons and showcase solutions that we aspire to include in our cars in the future. The company serves as a great inspiration for us and as an aid for rapid and effective development.

    Monitored passengers

Also driven by the requirements of the independent organisation Euro NCAP, which assigns safety ratings to vehicles, cars will soon feature interior cameras. Therefore, developers are exploring potential uses for these cameras. One of the basic functions is to monitor the driver’s condition so that the car can stop more quickly and call for help if the driver suddenly becomes incapacitated. Other functionalities are in various stages of development; for example, the cameras might detect whether the driver is drunk or distracted. They could also prevent the car from being unintentionally started by a small child at the steering wheel. In addition, Digiteq Automotive is testing a solution where the camera identifies the type of clothing worn by the passengers and adjusts the air-conditioning settings according to preset scenarios.

    Testing specialist

Testing is another cornerstone of the company’s operations. Digiteq Automotive has developed its Remote Test Lab (RTL) solution, which enables the verification of infotainment systems and their dedicated applications, including voice control and phone connectivity. RTL can be controlled via a web-based environment, allowing the user not to be tied to any particular test condition site. This flexibility can increase its utilisation, improve work efficiency and reduce costs. The company also uses its own DiRK platform for automated testing. Powerful computers simulate the complete physics and communication of all the control units in the car.

Some of Digiteq Automotive’s solutions, from the idea phase to delivery across the VW Group’s laboratories, can be described as products. These include various simulators and evaluation technologies in addition to test conditions. For example, the SUSAN device simulates encryption and immobilisers.
