Car deliveries to customers during the first quarter of 2023
Entering 2023 in full force
In the first three months of this year, Škoda Auto saw significant growth across all key economic indicators. The carmaker’s operating profit soared by 60.8% compared with the first quarter of last year, reaching EUR 542 million (almost CZK 13 billion). Revenues surged by more than 30% to EUR 6.794 billion (more than CZK 160 billion), and profitability reached 8%, indicating a 1.4 percentage point increase from the same period last year. Moreover, there was an upswing in car deliveries to customers, mainly thanks to robust demands in Western and Southern Europe. Overall, deliveries in Western Europe saw a one-third increase compared with the same period last year, while Central Europe observed a one-fifth rise. There was also a slight uptick in deliveries in India. The Octavia retained its position as the best-selling model, followed by the Kamiq and Kodiaq SUVs. Furthermore, deliveries of the electric Enyaq iV family experienced remarkable growth of more than 40%.

Writing the carmaker’s name in a new way
In line with the new corporate identity, Škoda Auto is now written in a new way. Since 31 March 2023, the commercial register reflects the new spelling as Škoda Auto a.s., replacing the previous form, ŠKODA AUTO a.s. Therefore, the capitalisation has been modified, as only the initial letters are now capitalised. The updated form already appears on standard forms and template contracts, so it is important to ensure the utilisation of the latest versions.
Extreme tests of new models
The new generations of Kodiaq and Superb have successfully completed tests in extremely cold temperatures above the Arctic Circle. The cars‘ hardware and software were put to the test, with the main focus on driving stability, passenger comfort in extremely cold conditions and overall reliability during long winter driving. Testing is now entering its final phase and the new models will have their premiere this autumn.
Street celebration of the Earth
In April, an original street happening called Zeměfest took place on the occasion of Earth Day with the subtitle „On the local wave“. The event, supported by the Škoda Auto Foundation, offered a programme for the whole family. There were creative workshops, a culinary show and a meeting with animals from the Ekocentrum Zahrada.
Škoda’s success in Taiwan
In the Taiwan sales region, the Škoda brand accomplished its best-ever monthly car delivery record. In April, it successfully delivered 1,160 cars to customers. Having been present in the region since 2006, the Škoda brand offers most of its model lines to customers there, with the exception of the Enyaq iV electric car.
Customers in the Czech Republic can take advantage of a favourable operating lease for the Enyaq iV 80. The monthly instalment payments for this model start at CZK 15,990, excluding VAT. This amount aligns with the lease payment for a comparably equipped Kodiaq.
The new bridge over the Jizera connects Mladá Boleslav with the surrounding villages and the development centre in Česana. The project was created thanks to the cooperation of the carmaker, the Škoda Auto Foundation, the KOVO Trade Union, the town of Mladá Boleslav and the EU.

MMK: The management conference showed that the carmaker is making progress to achieve the goals of the company-wide Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030.
The MMK conference, which regularly brings together managers from across the carmaker, was so important this year that the venue, the Škoda Museum, was adapted to accommodate its needs. In the days leading up to the event, extensive preparations were carried out, even resulting in a planned exhibition being postponed for a few days. The aim was to ensure that everything was ready for the presentation of the topics that are currently driving the carmaker, including the New Work concept, leadership, artificial intelligence and new developments in Škoda Auto’s strategy. These topics, along with many others, were the focus of four marketplace areas.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Klaus Zellmer began by summarising the challenges that the company has faced over the past year and the subsequent accomplishments of its employees. “In light of the numbers, we have made a great start to 2023. In the first quarter, all key financial metrics showed improvement. We doubled our operating profit and witnessed positive growth across all other financial indicators,” stated K. Zellmer.
He also expressed his appreciation for the Škoda teams, acknowledging their visible progress in implementing the company-wide Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030. “These wins have brought us one step closer to our goal of strengthening our position on our home continent and increasing our market share in Europe and other regions. This result would not have been possible without the significant team effort from departments such as product development, manufacturing, sales, after-sales services and numerous others,” added K. Zellmer.
The impressive figures for the first quarter speak for themselves. However, we are all aware of the major challenges we have to overcome, be it the emergence of new players in the European market, regulatory hurdles or increasing price competition.

New market potential
Škoda Auto has used new incentives and challenges to align its company-wide Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030 with the plans of the VW Group. It has clearly defined its current objectives and developed its structure, particularly with regard to quality. The carmaker has also made progress in expanding its regional presence, with the Vietnamese market serving as a gateway into the ASEAN region.
The electric future
The carmaker has made great strides in the field of electric mobility and unveiled visions for six future electric models. Škoda Auto presented its forward-looking vision to the public at the Let’s Explore event (see the May 2023 issue of Škoda Mobil). “Our commitment to unveiling a clear roadmap for the transition to electromobility has paid off. Within three weeks, we received a tremendous response from the media and through PR. However, it is most important that we have developed a plan that caters to the needs of customers across all important segments, from small to large,” emphasised K. Zellmer.
Representatives from all areas of the carmaker made interesting contributions to the conference programme.
Customer orientation
The Chairman of the Board of Directors highlighted that customer focus is the cornerstone of the company’s strategy. Regarding customer satisfaction, the importance of in-car software continues to grow, accompanied by correspondingly high demands. The most comprehensive software should offer high-utility value, user-friendliness, seamless functionality and adequate support in the event of problems.
Digitisation processes
The carmaker is actively developing digital solutions to enhance its internal processes. This includes the integration of artificial intelligence, eLearning and other automation tools to streamline existing operations. The company is also revolutionising its employee training system – for example, with the newly launched Degreed platform.
What lies ahead?
The transformation of the automotive industry continues to accelerate. Škoda Auto will emerge triumphant thanks to its hands-on approach and dedicated employees. “It is now up to all of us to create and maintain an open, collaborative and solution-oriented environment across departments. This will fuel innovation despite limited budgets,” says K. Zellmer. The upcoming period will be characterised by digital solutions, artificial intelligence and themes aligned with the company-wide strategy.

Four marketplace stations
Presentations of current and innovative solutions driving the carmaker’s progress were held at four strategic stations inside and outside the Škoda Museum.
Digital solutions
The first station focused on the introduction of software solutions, such as the Pay-to-Park (including Pay-to-Fuel), Metaverse, HoppyGo and Powerpass applications. The carmaker used these demonstrations to show the increasing importance of in-car software from the customer’s point of view and the high demands placed on it. The user survey revealed areas that require improvement, including the infotainment system, digital services, charging performance and overall usability. For example, the development of a new MyŠkoda app is currently underway, which will not only enhance car connectivity but also map the entire customer journey, including the use of Powerpass.
While similar events have been held outside of Mladá Boleslav in the past, this year’s event proved that the Škoda Museum is the perfect venue to host the MMK.
Artificial intelligence and Škoda
The second station explored the topic of artificial intelligence, which serves as a driving force for the whole company. Guests were provided insights into the current implementation of artificial intelligence at Škoda Auto and the potential for further expansion within the company. There were also practical demonstrations of the SCX and ChatGPT systems.
New work and leadership
At the third station, colleagues presented a new initiative dedicated to modern work practices. In addition to practical demonstrations of future work zones and cubicles, they presented the anchoring of mobile work in the current draft legislation, as well as its basic rules. The topic is also covered in this edition of Škoda Mobil on pages 8 and 9. At the same station, guests also had the opportunity to get a closer look at the New Leadership management training method.
Contemporary explorers and brand strategy
The last station, led by the Sales and Marketing area, centred around a major strategic topic. The aim was to provide visitors with comprehensive information to enhance their understanding of the brand and its importance. Emphasis was placed on integrating the brand strategy into all facets of the company, as the carmaker wishes to create a much stronger connection between employees and customers than ever before.

Modern and Welcoming Headquarters
Construction of Škoda Auto’s new headquarters, the Laurin & Klement Campus, is nearing completion. The state-of-the-art building complex will be a boon not only to the city but also to the carmaker and its employees.
The emerging Laurin & Klement Campus is an unparalleled modern office complex in Mladá Boleslav. The project was developed with a focus on sustainability by considering the needs of the carmaker and its employees in mind, as well as modern flexible work practices. Moreover, it was designed with Mladá Boleslav and its residents in mind. That is why it is open and accommodating for everyone, including cyclists and motorists.
During the planning phase, technologies and constructions aimed at significantly reducing CO2 emissions were incorporated. For example, lightweight reinforced concrete ceilings were used.
The project was created as a new headquarters for Škoda Auto, where both the management and numerous employees currently scattered all over Mladá Boleslav will relocate. However, the Laurin & Klement Campus is intended to serve as more than just a standalone office complex. “The vision for the future is to develop almost the entire area along Václav Klement Avenue,” explains Miroslav Nevlida from BAR/1 – Office Space Management. The carmaker has already expressed its intention to build a polyclinic at this location. Furthermore, the Laurin & Klement Campus was designed to eventually become part of a modern boulevard, serving as the foreground to the production plant along Václav Klement Avenue. It should be noted that this is a vision of the future rather than a concrete plan.

Inspiration by Škoda cars
The architectural competition for the design of the Laurin & Klement Campus was won by the ATP studio.
This top architectural firm has extensive experience in creating modern and environmentally friendly projects, including the HafenCity project in Hamburg’s harbour and the new headquarters of the European Patent Office. In the case of the project for Škoda Auto, it drew inspiration not only from the site itself but also from the carmaker. The studio was particularly inspired by the versatility offered by Škoda cars’ modular platforms. “That is why the Laurin & Klement Campus is not just a single large office building; instead, it is a complex of four interconnected buildings. This arrangement was driven by practical considerations, such as maximising natural light throughout the entire complex and creating large green atriums that allow people to move around and provide a pleasant places to stay, work and communicate effectively,” explains Martin Jelinek of ATP. The building shapes – both in the floor plan and even on the façade – take inspiration from some of the details found in the Škoda car lines.
The basic idea was to design a building with an open and dynamic structure that would function in a modular way, inspired by the modular platforms employed by the carmaker for its cars.

Practical and accessible
The complex has a dynamic form and benefits from its connection to the outside world. The ground floor, for example, will feature a large restaurant with a café, offering around 400 seats where anyone can go for a meal, not just Škoda Auto employees. The campus is also connected to the cycle route along Václav Klement Avenue. “We have allocated space for 50 bicycles and we can double this capacity in the future,” says Miroslav Nevlida from the BAR/1 – Office Space Management department. There will be 318 parking spaces for cars and, of course, provision for electric car charging.
Info
Layout of the space
The office space itself will make up about half of the building’s classic office floor, while less than a quarter will be allocated to corridors and “public spaces”. Meeting rooms will occupy 16% of the total space, and the remaining area will be used for facilities and space required for HVAC systems.
With up to 2,000 employees working in the complex, shared spaces have been designed to offer all the comfort found in most modern office buildings. Kitchenettes and common facilities for informal meetings are available, while showers and changing rooms cater to the modern trend of employees using their bike to get to work. Another interesting feature is acoustic booths, which provide a quiet space for phone calls.
The four buildings that make up the Laurin & Klement Campus are interconnected on all office floors, making it easy for employees to move around and collaborate with each other without restricting movement in the atriums. “We aimed to create a truly modern environment for our employees, aligning with the standards found in the most modern office complexes in Europe,” explains Nevlida. “By relocating employees from other rented spaces in Mladá Boleslav, we not only make it easier for them to work together but also free up space in the city for other companies and uses, thus reducing our dependence on external rentals,” he adds.
Of course, the Laurin & Klement Campus was built with a focus on sustainability, incorporating modern technical solutions to achieve this goal. We will present details about these solutions in an upcoming issue of Škoda Mobil.

Green Future
Diverse May
International Biodiversity Day
International Biodiversity Day, celebrated on 22 May, emphasises the importance of preserving diversity at the genetic, species and ecosystem levels for humanity. In its Green Future strategy and related projects, Škoda Auto has made a long-term commitment to minimising its environmental impact and ensuring sustainable protection of the environment, thus aligning with the Group’s goTOzero environmental model. The goal is to minimise the environmental impact of all mobility products and solutions throughout their lifecycle.
Projects and challenges
Since 2007, Škoda Auto has been supporting reforestation through the Škoda Trees grant programme. For every car sold in the Czech Republic, the carmaker plants one tree. By the end of 2023, this initiative will have resulted in 1,244,080 trees planted.
This year brings a new initiative, the Krakonoš Gardens grant appeal. The Škoda Auto Foundation, with support from the PSU – Environmental and Work Protection department and Volkswagen Financial Services, will support projects focused on the genetic, environmental and ecosystem diversity of plant and animal species in specific locations. The aim is to increase public interest in the environment and actively involve people in taking care of and preserving it. The programme is taking place in the Mladá Boleslav, Rychnov and Vrchlabí regions, with the expert guarantor being the Management of Krkonoše National Park.
Trees, bees, falcons
There are more than 1,700 trees, as well as hedges and shrubs, on the premises of the three Czech production plants. Over an area of more than 507,000 m2, they provide habitat for numerous species of insects and other animals. The Vrchlabí plant, for example, houses four beehives that are home to some 160,000 bees.
A pair of peregrine falcons nests on the chimney of the ŠKO-ENERGO heating plant in Mladá Boleslav. After two years, they have returned to the birdhouse, having nested on the lower chimney of the Paint Shop in the meantime. In May, two fledglings hatched from their eggs, which were the first eggs in the Czech Republic to be monitored by Alka Wildlife. Alka Wildlife deals with wildlife protection, and on its website, it also maps the nesting of falcons, which are an endangered species in the Czech Republic. An online camera allows viewers to observe the falcons in Mladá Boleslav.
The falcon birdhouse was installed on the chimney’s gallery by ŠKO-ENERGO in 2013, and the first birds of prey nested there two years later. With a height of 167.5 metres, the birdhouse is the second-tallest on Czech industrial chimneys, and so far, 28 falcon fledglings have called it home.

Volunteering
Employees of the carmaker also actively contribute to biodiversity preservation and environmental protection, which is part of the company culture, and showcase their commitment even outside of work hours. Every year, around 300 employees and their families take part in the Clean Up the Czech Republic campaign at three Škoda Auto plants in the Czech Republic. In addition, members of the KOVO Trade Union assist the ČSOP Klenice non-profit organisation by mowing meadows, establishing ponds and removing non-native trees.

Green Future
Greenery around us
A dendrological survey is carried out annually in Mladá Boleslav. “We need to be aware of what grows where and, above all, the condition of the trees,” explains Luděk Holub from the PSZ/42 – Infrastructure Operation department. During the survey, two external specialists inspect the entire plant area, the area around the Pentagon, the Administration Centre and the car park around the Škoda Museum. Each tree and shrub group has a unique number that is recorded in the both tabular and graphic formats to create a comprehensive inventory. The graphical representation takes the form of a map depicting the plant and other locations.
Vitality
The dendrological survey focuses on monitoring and recording numerous parameters, such as genus and species, trunk circumference at a height of 1.3 metres from the base, tree height, crown diameter, physiological age and vitality (the health status and prospects for the tree – ed.). Based on the collected date, treatment measures are proposed for trees in need. This may involve various types of pruning, removal of dry branches or ensuring the tree’s stability and healthy growth.
Tree condition
The summary report of the dendrological survey provides treatment recommendations, pruning guidelines and tree-planting suggestions, as well as proposals for removing dead or unpromising trees. “Of course, we replace cut trees with new ones. If a tree requires a permit for cutting, we have to apply to the environmental department of the city council. In such cases, replacement planting is mandatory,” says L. Holub. “Thanks to professional surveys, we are aware of the condition of our trees and can regularly and properly take care of them. For example, there are two rare Chinese metasequoias on the premises of the Mladá Boleslav plant, one of which is 26 metres tall, making it the tallest tree,” concludes L. Holub.
Security
Security
TISAX audit assistance
Growing risks in the data security area have led to the VW Group tightening security conditions for development suppliers. For those working with confidential or secret data, a TISAX security audit has been consistently required for several years. Following procedural changes in 2021, the verification of compliance with the specified security conditions is now even more thorough than before.
2,000
The TISAX Office service has already successfully handled more than 2,000 cases, and this number is increasing every week.
All of this results in a higher administrative burden for professional areas. Therefore, the carmaker decided to reduce it through centralisation and established the TISAX Office of Technical Development under the leadership of the ES – Planning and Coordination department at the end of 2021. After about a year and a half, key downstream processes and collaboration models have been fine-tuned, and the service is proving its stability and quality every day.
The TISAX Office’s primary role is to provide administrative support in the necessary process steps of the security audit for the enquiring suppliers. The consulting team’s tasks include assistance with communication, expert guidance through the issues and the sub-steps required for the certification of companies, notification of expiring TISAX certifications and the preparation of regular reports for management and the Purchasing area. In addition, the team collaborates with the ISMS SC (a commission providing methodological guidance on matters related to information security within the company).

New virtual development possibilities
Technical development: Even the relatively stable car development process is undergoing a transformation. The focus is on function-oriented development and virtualisation.
The turbulent changes in the automotive industry are imposing significant demands on the automotive development process. At Škoda Auto, this process is referred to as PEP (ProduktEnstehungsProzess – Product Development Process) and currently spans 54 months from project start to production. At a time when car complexity, customer demands and legislative requirements are rapidly increasing, adhering to this timeframe can be very challenging. However, extending the timeline is not a viable option, as there is a risk that the developed cars would become functionally and aesthetically outdated by the time they are launched.
Technical development must demonstrate the agility and adaptability required to tackle new challenges in the fields of electromobility, connectivity and automated driving.
Johannes Neft
Board Member for Technical Development
To meet these challenges, the Technical Development area has undergone a transition from a parts-oriented development process to a function-oriented development process (FuOrE) and further to a functional and system-oriented development process (the Group’s FUSE programme). The FUSE programme operated on the principle of working groups conceived based on functional and system interdependencies. For example, the tailgate system – known as the fifth door – will be developed by a group of experts from all necessary fields. “The car will be designed as a standalone system, interacting with surrounding systems such as charging stations, parking houses and so on,” explains Radek Ježek, expert coordinator of Product Lifecycle Management from the ES – Planning and Coordination department.
New digital tools
Although physical models and prototypes remain essential, the traditional process of refining them is now a thing of the past. The next logical step to address increasing product demands is virtual development. “This represents a complete shift in the philosophy of Technical Development, with the virtual model taking centre stage. Its key advantage lies in its virtually instant response and the ability to simulate, validate and test the car in all model variants and trim levels at an early stage of the development process. Therefore, a new team has been formed in the EB – Concept Development Department to manage the virtual development effectively,” says R. Ježek.
In the context of the virtual model, there is often talk of a “digital twin” of a real car or a specific car part, enabling development activities to be carried out long before the prototypes are produced. The digital twin of a car can also be used, for example, in production planning, logistics, quality control and after-sales, allowing for verification of manufacturability, service tasks and more.

Diverzity
Diversity
Varied range of stories and themes
To mark European Diversity Month, Škoda Auto has launched a series of activities in recent weeks with the slogans You Matter, We Matter, Diversity Matters.
As one of the largest employers in the Czech Republic, Škoda Auto supports various initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion. “Within the framework of the company-wide Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030, we have defined diversity and inclusion as key areas of focus. We strive to lead by example by promoting openness, acceptance and a work environment grounded in mutual respect. A strong sense of belonging among our employees, as well as a company culture that is as open and diverse as it is understanding, forms the basis for our long-term success,” says Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO. In May, the programme to promote these ideas included presentations, online events and workshops. With these initiatives, the carmaker sought to introduce new topics that would resonate with employees: psychological safety, coming out in the workplace, inclusive leadership and special eLearning opportunities (see New Topics).
People can reach their full potential in an environment where they are accepted and supported in line with their self-awareness. The more diverse the team, the better and more innovative its work. This applies to aspects such as gender identity, ethnicity, social origin and education, religion, worldview, sexual orientation, health and age.
Maren Gräf
Board Member for People & Culture
Journey towards an inclusive world
It is clear that Škoda Auto needs diversity and inclusion. But the question remains: How can it be achieved? At the Meet Up event in May, participants had the opportunity to learn what the various departments are doing in this area and what their goals are. Theresa Necker, S/X – Transformation Coordinator, presented a comprehensive systematic process that needs to be implemented at all levels. She emphasised the importance of considering people’s history and culture and finding ways to reach and involve them. Specific steps were outlined by Martina Zimmermann, Diversity Coordinator, and Natalia Hudecová, Diversity Specialist, from the same department, including the introduction of a community of ambassadors and a new diversity strategy. They also provided concrete figures to show what has already been achieved.
7.8%
Increasing the share of women across various work areas can boost GDP growth in the Czech Republic by 7.8%.
25%
With the support of its social partner, the KOVO Trade Union, Škoda Auto aims to surpass a one-fifth proportion of women in management positions by 2025. By 2030, the goal is to increase this representation to a quarter.
The patron of Meet Up is Maren Gräf, Board Member for People & Culture. In her speech, she stressed the importance of diversity and inclusion and its impact on employees. Strengthening these themes is what enables the company to create an equal, safe and welcoming working environment and, last but not least, increases its attractiveness for new talent. Škoda Auto also actively engages with LGBT+ people, as demonstrated, for example, by its partnership with the Prague Pride Festival or Prague Fun & Run 2023 (a run against homophobia).
Škoda Enyaq Coupé Respectline
As part of the European Diversity Month celebrations, Škoda Auto has unveiled a car with unique exterior and interior design features. The Škoda Enyaq Coupé Respectline is the result of collective efforts by Škoda Auto employees from various departments. The car made its public debut at the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra’s Open-Air Concert on 21 June and will be showcased at the Pride Business Forum and Prague Pride Festival, as well as other summer events at home and abroad.
Involvement of schools
The topic of diversity was not new to the Škoda Auto Vocational School (SOUs) this year either. In addition to integrating this topic into its curriculum, the school organised two workshops specifically for first-year pupils. The first workshop focuses on the theme of otherness and explains the concepts of diversity and inclusion through a game that evokes empathy for and understanding of others. The second workshop, called The Living Library, features personal stories of authentic representatives of minority groups. The project facilitates dialogue and creates a space for direct confrontation of one’s attitudes, and about four people are introduced to the pupils in this way.
Info
Promoting diversity, equality and inclusion is a cornerstone of Škoda Auto’s and the VW Group’s strategy. In 2019, the carmaker signed the European Diversity Charter, which actively promotes inclusion, equal opportunities and cultural diversity. In addition, it has joined the Pride Business Forum, affirming its commitment as an LGBT+ friendly employer.
New Topics
Psychological safety at the workplace
This topic was the focus of an interactive seminar entitled “How to Stand Up for Yourself”. Any form of violence typically has several stages, with communication often being the starting point. This was the takeaway for the approximately 20 participants attending this short but very useful meeting.
Coming out in the workplace
The panel discussion “Don’t Be Afraid to Share/Coming Out in the Workplace” and the “All Our Coming Outs” workshop showed that coming out is not simply a one-time occurrence. It is an ongoing process that affects not only LGBT+ people but everyone who may face a pivotal situation affecting them.
Inclusive leadership
Škoda Auto offers special courses for leaders, such as “Inclusive Leadership”. These initiatives strive to create an open space for building inclusive teams, supporting diverse talent etc.
Special eLearning
The carmaker has also introduced an unconventional online course called “Discovery Journey”. It is designed for all employees to better understand the basic concepts of diversity and inclusion and to make them more accessible. Based on real people’s stories, the course allows everyone to gain a deeper understanding of their situation and learn something about themselves.

Success in times of challenges
In mid-November, around 300 managers gathered at the Škoda Museum for a two-day meeting with the top management of the MMK. The opening session was addressed by Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO, and Jaroslav Povšík, Chairman of the KOVO Trade Union. The theme of transformation guided the entire event, which included seminars, discussions and updates from various areas of the carmaker.
Compact but still spacious
The Kylaq, Škoda’s latest and smallest model, was unveiled in November. Measuring less than 4 metres in length, it targets the popular Indian market segment, with prices starting from CZK 220,000. The Kylaq introduces the new Modern Solid design language to India, along with the largest boot in its class and a wide range of equipment focused on safety, including six airbags.
IVET 2024 Innovation Fair
The 8th edition of IVET showcased 36 innovation themes, underscoring Škoda Auto’s commitment to practical advancements. New was a section dedicated to the Indian market and contributions from Group colleagues. The event also featured the presentation of the Elroq. From Simply Clever solutions to technical breakthroughs, the fair continued the tradition of innovations designed with customers in mind.
Chronicle of 2024
In 2024, Škoda Auto continued to launch new models while modernising its bestsellers. The carmaker also adopted a new design language, opened the Laurin & Klement Kampus, supported numerous charitable and sustainable projects, achieved many successes and celebrated several important anniversaries. Discover the highlights from the past year in this year’s Chronicle.
Kronika roku 2024
V roce 2024 Škoda Auto pokračovala v uvádění nových modelů a také v modernizaci bestsellerů. Automobilka navíc přešla na nový designový jazyk Modern Solid, otevřela Laurin & Klement Kampus, podpořila nespočet dobročinných i udržitelných projektů, dosáhla mnoha úspěchů a oslavila několik významných výročí. To nejdůležitější z právě končícího roku se dočtete v letošní kronice.
Launching a new era in India
Four metres is a critical threshold in the Indian automobile market and its segment with this maximum length accounts for nearly 30%. Škoda Auto is entering this segment with the new compact SUV, the Kylaq, which is developed and manufactured in India specifically to cater to the preferences of local customers. This launch follows the earlier introductions of the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan.
Conquering the French market
More than half a million visitors flocked to the Paris Motor Show in October, where global carmakers were in attendance. The Škoda Auto stand featured the new electric Elroq, which garnered much attention. Other cars from Škoda’s portfolio were also on display, including a specially modified fourth-generation Superb for the Tour de France race director and the Fabia RS Rally2 competition special.
Reducing software complexity
The second of the Brand Group Core’s six strategic packages is titled Reducing Complexity and focuses primarily on software. The increasing number of drives and assistance systems and the integration of other vehicle functions have led to a complex array of software variants. The aim of reducing the number of software variants is to decrease costs and enhance cybersecurity.
A look inside the battery
The new tomography centre in Hall M6 allows for non-destructive testing of the quality of MEB’s electric platform batteries. Škoda Auto inaugurated this state-of-the-art facility in June this year, and there may not be another facility like it in any other carmaker. Historically, the industry has employed computed tomography technology, or CT scanning, mainly for smaller parts.
Pohled do útrob baterie
