IT projects of the year: AI in the spotlight

Škoda IT continued to show how quickly ideas can be turned into practical solutions. Highlights included new pay and reward tools, digital assistants, AI-supported learning platforms and camera-based quality inspections in production. Artificial intelligence is increasingly being applied across the company, from HR and training to manufacturing and finance.

IT Projects Delivered in 2025

Developments in information technology are accelerating, and Škoda IT is keeping pace. Over the past year, it has prepared a number of new features. Here is an overview of the most interesting ones.

AI Soft Skill Training

This innovative educational application, developed by Škoda Academy, helps to strengthen communication skills in practical situations. Users can practise giving feedback, managing emotions, communicating bad news and conducting difficult conversations with calm and professionalism.

Tip

You can now take the Giving feedback and Challenging conversations AI courses anytime, anywhere. They are available in Czech and English and can be found in the training events catalogue on Škoda Space.

ŠAILA

This innovative educational platform trains salespeople on topics related to Škoda Auto in two steps. “First, they study at their own pace, and then they take part in a highly realistic simulated conversation with a virtual customer in the form of an avatar who asks specific questions about the material just covered,” explains Lukáš Lojka from FIO/5. The entire conversation is monitored by an AI coach who helps the salesperson refine their responses and provides feedback. The project is already being used by sales networks in the Netherlands and Turkey. There are plans to launch it in at least 10 other markets.

PPS Toolshop G2

In Tool Shop (PSW), the team has completed the vast majority of the functions of the new enterprise resource planning system. “It’s the first system at Škoda Auto developed on the modern AWS/DPP (Digital Production Platform) cloud platform. This makes it flexible and ready for expansion with new functionalities and, in the future, AI functions,” explains Aleš Kučera from FIP/2 – IT Projects – Component Production. The system is built on a microservices architecture. This ensures a high degree of modularisation of the entire system. Colleagues from the PSW department contributed their knowledge of production processes to the project.

Remuneration app

This is an innovative solution and modern tool that facilitates payroll processes. For example, it allows you to manage requests for employment agreements and work activities, as well as model severance-related social payments. This year will bring a number of significant innovations, such as pay discussions, team remuneration and information on bonus payments, which will further increase the efficiency of existing processes.

ANNIE Camera Inspections

The automated inspection system uses artificial intelligence to perform quality control on production lines. It can automatically detect defects, such as missing or incorrectly assembled or placed parts. This saves Škoda Auto up to several hundred thousand euros per year. For example, on the ML1 and ML2 door lines, the camera performs 38 types of checks with a success rate of 99.98%. The ANNIE system therefore prevents errors during time-consuming checks by the human eye. The project was implemented under the IT management of FIP/1 – IT Projects – Vehicle Production in cooperation with teams from the areas of GQ – Quality Management and FIM/4 – AM Production Planning and Management, Quality Management.

Ponteaq

This project is part of the Škoda IT Ecosystem corporate strategy and connects the carmaker’s IT activities with the Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions India. The goal for 2025 was to increase the volume of services provided from India by shifting from local external suppliers, thereby expanding the Indian team from 90 to 140 people. Thanks to the efforts of numerous colleagues from IT and cooperation with specialist departments, the target was exceeded. The team currently consists of 151 experts. This offers greater opportunities for exploiting synergies and creates a basis for implementing further projects. The Škoda IT India Week event in April last year, where our Indian colleagues presented their services, also contributed to deepening cooperation (more in the June 2025 issue of Škoda Mobil).

Digital Adoption Tool

Within the VW Group, Škoda Auto has become the exclusive provider of the platform for supporting users of the Hello Success HR system. The DAT tool, developed in collaboration between the FIP/4, FIM/3 and SPA/S departments, guides users step by step directly within the Hello Success application. “Personalised digital instructions tell you where to click and what to fill in. This means users do not need to search for and study manuals or attend training courses. At the same time, it does not overwhelm users with unnecessary instructions but only displays those that are relevant to their job,” emphasises David Sak from FIP/4.

Virtual Assistant for the Financial Portal

Since April last year, a new feature developed by FIO/5 – Client & User Support has been helping Škoda Auto partners to navigate and use the Financial Portal. For example, it allows them to search for invoices and check their status. It searches for information on documents, browses the archive and provides PDFs directly in the chat window. It helps both new and experienced users quickly find the information they need.

FIS FullUpdate

This was one of the most significant technological changes at Škoda Auto last year. It was not just an update but a strategic step that ensured the replacement of the outdated FIS 2021.4 system with a modern version that also meets the strict cybersecurity requirements of UNECE CSMS. This is essential for future car sales. The project was carried out across plants from Mladá Boleslav to India and Malaysia, and thanks to the work of more than 40 experts from Production, IT, Logistics, Quality, VWGIS and external partners, key challenges were successfully overcome, including the rapid replacement of discontinued communication links with the Mladá Boleslav paint shops and complex deployment during the July shutdown. This ensured safe and stable production, and all model launches went smoothly.
