A Cheerful Kodiaq for the Red Noses

Dozens of children once again took part in the Car for Red Noses contest, with the jury selecting the 10 best designs for the final public vote. The winner was Emma Siderasová, whose drawing was transformed by the carmaker into a unique design for the Kodiaq iV. At the Day with Škoda Auto, which took place on 31 May as part of the Zlín Film Festival, the car was ceremoniously handed over to the Red Noses organisation. The decorated Kodiaq iV joined the fleet of cars that also includes the Enyaq and Superb models from the three previous contest years. In addition, the carmaker donated CZK 1 million to the organisation to support the latter’s further activities. Red Noses health clowns mainly visit paediatric patients in hospitals, but they also bring laughter and joy to retirement homes and hospices. Škoda Auto has been supporting their work both financially and by providing vehicles since 2001.

Summer offers to beat the heat

As every year, the carmaker has prepared measures for this summer in agreement with the KOVO Trade Union to help employees stay hydrated and replenish minerals. Everything remains the same as last year. From June to the end of August, employees can enjoy subsidised tablets and ion drinks, including a new mango flavour, or choose from a selection of salads to accompany their main meal for CZK 3. Of course, soda bars are available year-round, with 200 ml of soda free of charge, as are free mineralised drinks in GTH restaurants. A detailed overview can be found at Škoda Space.

    Used phones at reduced prices

In cooperation with the KOVO Trade Union, the carmaker is offering a new benefit. Internal employees can purchase used mobile phones and tablets. This gives the devices a second life and helps protect the environment. Every month, you can choose from an updated range of devices. All you have to do is reserve your phone or tablet by using the new REZAM reservation app on Škoda Space, at an information kiosk or in person at the HR Consulting Centre. Collection and payment take place at stores in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Vrchlabí.

    Excellent reputation and ESG perception

In its latest ESG & Reputation Research study, Ipsos examined how Czechs perceive large companies in terms of sustainability and reputation. Škoda Auto ranked among the top performers out of 27 companies: first in terms of corporate reputation and second in terms of perceived social responsibility and performance in the ESG pillars. The study found that people appreciate Škoda Auto’s projects supporting children’s education and local communities, as well as its environmental projects.

Girls Day attracts more than 100 girls

At the end of April, the Secondary Technical School of Engineering organised its traditional day for girls from six schools in Mladá Boleslav and the surrounding area. An attractive programme included activities in the fields of robotics, CNC centres, logistics, electrical engineering, paint shops and car mechanics workshops. This hands-on introduction to the school, which is part of the Škoda Academy, motivated them to study technical subjects.

In a little more than a quarter of a century, Škoda Auto has produced 5 million units of the Fabia model across its four generations.

Try out the Enyaq or Elroq. And do it properly

Škoda Auto wants to make electric mobility even more accessible to the general public and offer people the opportunity to gain their own experience with locally emission-free transport. Therefore, it is launching the Škoda Explore service, which allows interested parties to try out the fully electric Enyaq or Elroq models for up to fourteen days. The basis is the skoda-explore.cz web platform, which is used to book test drives. This gives customers the chance to experience in everyday use how the car drives, how it charges on different types of chargers and what its range is. All this in an environment and situations they are familiar with – they can take it for everyday shopping, a weekend trip or a longer journey. The latest electric models are available in various configurations, and test drives are designed to be affordable for everyone.

Elroq dominates European electric car sales

For the first time since its launch, the new Elroq model has jumped to the top of the rankings for the best-selling electric cars in Europe. With almost 8,000 new registrations, it leads the way with a significant advantage over the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.7 and ID.4 models. The larger Enyaq holds eighth place and recorded a 37% year-on-year increase in European registrations to more than 5,000. Compared with the same period last year, the entire electric vehicle segment grew by almost 30%.

In the first quarter of 2025, Škoda Auto once again achieved strong sales results, with a significant increase in electric vehicle deliveries.

    Transformation of Production to Electromobility

At the end of April, the carmaker opened a new logistics centre and the M8 Hall. Both buildings were constructed east of the D10 motorway and are connected to the plant via the Laurin & Klement Bridge.

    Production and Logistics

This is a significant project that will enable the carmaker to further develop in the field of electromobility and help to relieve truck traffic on the congested Průmyslová Street. Construction began in May 2024 and was completed in early 2025.

    New logistics centre

The unified logistics centre, LZO (Logistik Zentrum Ost – ed.), was built behind the D10 motorway near the M8 Hall. It was created in response to a long-term shortage of space at the Mladá Boleslav plant, when the carmaker decided to free up existing areas for other operations and concentrate logistics in one location. The new centre covers an area of 125,000 m2, and a 14th gate, located nearby, will handle a significant portion of trucks heading to the production plant. An area of 92,500 m2 is used by the PLT – Škotrans department, where 54 employees manage the central loading of vehicles, with a capacity of up to 50 trucks at a time. The second part is reserved for the storage of returnable empty packaging from all Škoda Auto plants. All packaging is transported there and then sent to the parts suppliers.

    94,000 m2

In the past, logistics lost almost 100,000 m2, which the carmaker used for hall extensions or car parks.

    75,000

The number of trucks handled annually by the team that manages the central loading of returnable packaging.

    2,871

The number of finished cars that can now be stored on the premises of the new logistics centre.

The total storage area is divided into two zones: indoor (under shelters) and outdoor. Storage is organised by supplier to maximise synergies during vehicle loading. “The new facility behind the motorway offers several strategic advantages. The key benefit is not only the consolidation of the processes of loading finished vehicles and returnable packaging. This leads to a reduction in unnecessary transport and optimisation of logistics operations. Another important factor is the reduction of traffic on key transport routes in Mladá Boleslav,” says Luboš Doleček, Head of PL – Brand Logistics. The modern facilities, which greatly improve working conditions for employees, are also an important feature.

    Environmental aspects of the construction

During construction, the carmaker emphasised ecology and sustainability. The complex will be equipped with several ecological features. The roofs of the buildings will be planted with greenery, which will contribute to a better microclimate, lower temperatures in the surrounding area and improved air quality. Rainwater will be collected and used for flushing toilets, thereby reducing water consumption and supporting sustainable water management. In the future, photovoltaic panels may be installed to generate electricity from renewable sources, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and supporting the company’s environmental energy policy.

  • Expanding beyond the motorway

At the end of April, the carmaker opened a new logistics centre and the M8 Hall for producing EV batteries (GS5). Both facilities are located east of the D10 motorway and are connected to the plant via the Laurin & Klement Bridge. The importance of these investments is explained in an interview with Jiří Drbout, Head of PP – Brand Planning.

    A Major Strategic Step

Škoda Auto has significantly expanded its Mladá Boleslav plant. “One of the main reasons for this investment was our transformation towards electromobility,” says Jiří Drbout, Head of PP – Brand Planning, in an interview.

In recent months, Škoda Auto has built new facilities in the industrial zone east of the D10 motorway, which are linked to the main plant by the Laurin & Klement Bridge. The carmaker has built a logistics centre (LZO) and the M8 Hall for the production of batteries for electric cars (GS5) there. The new facilities are now integrated into the carmaker’s premises.

When did you start working on this expansion?

The first ideas emerged around 2010, but the economic conditions at the time didn’t permit it. However, the industrial zone behind the motorway was already included in the zoning plans of the adjacent municipalities. In 2018, we reached an agreement with the government, as well as regional and city authorities, on the expansion of transport infrastructure, primarily in the vicinity of Mladá Boleslav, which employees and local residents can now see as largely completed, particularly in relation to the D10 motorway. At the same time, we incorporated the use of the future industrial zone into our company-wide strategy.

Everyone involved in this major project delivered outstanding work.

How did the idea of expanding beyond the motorway come about?

Our main motivation was to optimise production and logistics processes at the Mladá Boleslav plant and, over time, the current transition to electromobility, including the fact that the period during which electric and combustion engine vehicles will continue to co-exist keeps extending. Given the breadth of Škoda Auto’s portfolio, this also places increased demands on space. The expansion allows us to integrate high-value operations into our production process. One example is the new M8 Hall for battery production (GS5). All these changes are part of a transformation process in which we’re increasing the flexibility of our production facilities while also creating future job opportunities in emerging industrial sectors.

Aerial view of the M8 Hall and the new LZO logistics warehouse, which is connected to the main production plant by the Laurin & Klement Bridge.

You mentioned improving logistics processes. How specifically will this part of the facility improve logistics and transport in the vicinity of the carmaker?

Current government investments in transport infrastructure and newly emerging solutions will significantly ease traffic in Mladá Boleslav. The industrial zone will be directly connected to the motorway, which will also significantly reduce traffic in the city of Mladá Boleslav. The newly created complex will have its own gate, and the new zone will be connected to the existing production facilities by a bridge. The gate will also be available to some employees who will be able to drive their cars directly into the company premises. At the same time, this arrangement means that we have direct access to the industrial zone where we have other external partners and suppliers and where, for example, the Škoda Parts Centre, a warehouse for original spare parts and car accessories, is located.

How difficult was it to coordinate everything?

It is a complex and long-term process involving almost all the company departments. It requires cooperation not just within Škoda Auto and the VW Group but also with external partners. In this case, the cooperation was excellent, whether it was coordination with ministries, the region, local authorities or suppliers.

  • How racing legends were born

The Mladá Boleslav brand’s legacy in motorsport began on 27 June 1901. The first trophies were won in 1906, and since then, Škoda cars – both competition specials and production models that the carmaker has imbued with a sporting spirit – have continued to regularly collect accolades. Read the stories behind several of these legends.

Alexandr Kolowrat-Krakowský won in an L&K F car in a hill climb race in Gaillon, France.

    Racing Legends

1908 The carmaker realised early on that it could capitalise on its successes in motorsport from a commercial perspective, and so it built its own racing cars.

The compelling story of the Mladá Boleslav brand’s success in motorsport began on 27 June 1901, when Narcis Podsedníček lined up at the start of a long-distance race from Paris to Berlin with an L&K B motorcycle. In 1906, the first trophies from car races were won. Since then, the Škoda Motorsport team has collected numerous others. All this on machines that the carmaker built either purely for racing or when it imbued its production models with a sporting spirit.

    Laurin & Klement FC

Just two years after the premiere of the Voiturette A, the two Václavs set about building a racing car. They soon became the centre of attention with a thrilling series of sporting successes. These were achieved by the FC model that was built on the successful platform of the F-type passenger models. Chief engineer Otto Hieronimus was behind the design and sporting successes of the FC type. Production took place between 1907 and 1909, and the 19 cars that were produced often varied in engine type and appearance.

    Škoda Sport

In 1950, when the 24 Hours of Le Mans was the most-watched motorsport event, the duo of Václav Bobek and Jaroslav Netušil impressed the crowds with their Škoda Sport special, number 44. It was based on the first post-war Škoda 1101 Tudor model from 1946. Almost nothing was changed on the chassis with a central tube and axles; only the brakes and gearbox were modified for high-speed racing. The weight was reduced to 590 kg, and the Škoda Sport was equipped with two additional headlights for the night part of the race. After modifications, the 1.1-litre four-cylinder engine’s output almost doubled; the standard Tudor had 32 horsepower, while the racing special had 50.

The long night at Le Mans was almost over, and the Škoda Sport team held second place in its class and fifth place overall.

    Škoda 1100 OHC

Development of this sports car began in the spring of 1956 with the aim of building on the only participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans to date. The basis of the special was a space frame welded from thin-walled steel tubes. The almost ideal weight distribution on the axles contributed to the excellent driving characteristics. The clutch, five-speed gearbox and final gear were located at the rear where they formed a single assembly. The special was powered by a longitudinally mounted inline four-cylinder engine at the front, which delivered an impressive output of 85 horsepower per litre of displacement.

    Škoda F3

In 1964, the carmaker responded to changes in the traditional Formula 3 single-seater category. The project was designated Š 992, which revealed its relationship to the Š 990 – the new Škoda 1000 MB car ready for production in the spring of 1964. However, the first single-seater was completed in February 1964. During the 1965 season, three new Škoda F3 formulas appeared in races with drivers Václav and Jaroslav Bobek and Miroslav Fousek. Almost from the very beginning, they secured podium finishes in nearly every race they entered.

2014 As part of the Azubi Car project, students at the Škoda Auto Vocational School (SOUs) have been designing their own car since 2014.

The construction of the student concept is a key project for the vocational school every year and allows students to try their hand at everything from planning and design to the construction of an innovative prototype. They have the opportunity to design their dream car and collaborate with professionals from a range of departments. One of the results is that they become familiar with the carmaker and its operations while still in school, which they can use later when they graduate and start their careers at the carmaker. It is worth noting that when creating the latest Roadiaq car, the students collaborated with experts from both the carmaker and supplier companies.

The support of experts from various Škoda Auto departments and the Škoda Academy teachers, as well as the mutual sharing of information, are very beneficial for our students and their development. This year, the project was also enriched by cooperation with external motorhome experts,” says Zdeněk Stanke, a teacher at the Škoda Auto Vocational School. Nine student cars have been created so far in cooperation between Škoda Auto and students.

    Post-war purges at the company

1945 In June 1945, extraordinary people’s courts were established by decision of President Beneš and the government. According to two retribution decrees, Nazi criminals, their accomplices, traitors, collaborators and informers were to be punished. A total of approximately 23,000 people were convicted by 24 extraordinary people’s courts in the Czech lands, 738 of whom were sentenced to death. At the carmaker, 37 employees were brought before the people’s court, five of whom were sentenced to death. Of the 86 people investigated for less serious offences, 31 were acquitted, 33 were removed from management positions, and 40 were fired.

Luboš Suchý recalls how logistics changed

1973–2020 He joined the car factory as a trained machine fitter, then completed his secondary education and in 1977 started working at the steelworks as a forklift truck driver. Most of his professional life has been connected with the internal logistics of the steelworks.

“In 1986, I became a foreman, and two years later, the head of the steelworks’ internal transport centre. The work was demanding, and we struggled with a lack of qualified workers, as no training programmes yet existed for forklift operation, warehouse management or logistics,” says Luboš. Internal transport at the steelworks often involved difficult tasks. For example, they had to deal with the transport of liquid aluminium in the Al Foundry and the transfer of heavy casting moulds to the V17 Hall.

Like other longtime employees, he says that fundamental changes in his field occurred after the company was incorporated into the VW Group. “Technology and transport and handling equipment were gradually modernised. Working and safety conditions for employees improved significantly. The flow of materials and parts between workplaces was optimised, and the number of forklift trucks transporting materials on outdoor roads was reduced. For example, clean zones and logistics warehouses were introduced in the halls. Logistics activities continued to develop and became part of the production process,” adds Luboš.

    Idea Management

1918 Archival records show that employees have been submitting improvement suggestions since 1918, but the carmaker did not begin targeted idea management until 1993. Now, it is known at Škoda Auto as ZEBRA. This is an acronym composed of the first letter of each of the key elements of idea management: knowledge, enthusiasm, sharpness, reason and activity (in Czech: “Znalost, Elán, Bystrost, Rozum a Aktivita”). Through this programme, the carmaker encourages employees to submit suggestions. It also coordinates their evaluation, implementation and remuneration. The suggestions help identify ways to reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance safety across the company.

How the carmaker is perceived by the professional public

2015 Since 2015, the carmaker has regularly appeared at the top of the Employer of the Year competition: It has won a total of five times in the past 10 years in the nationwide category Employer With More Than 5,000 Employees. In 2022, it even won the prestigious title of Employer of the Decade in this competition. This was the second time it had received this award. It also repeatedly ranks among the top employers in other employee evaluation surveys. These include, for example, the Most Desired Employer among Students in the Central Bohemian Region and Hradec Králové Region survey, as well as the TOP Employers study, which is based on a survey of more than 10,000 university students. Other significant awards include those from the Randstad Employer Brand Research employee popularity survey.

  • Star-studded Music Festival

One of the highlights of the celebrations marking 130 years since the carmaker’s founding was the Music Festival, where thousands of Škoda employees gathered to enjoy live performances. Four acts took to the stage on the D7 car park between the Laurin & Klement Campus and the M13 Hall: Calin, employee band Wotazník, Ewa Farna and Kabát. The celebrations continue in June with Family Day.

    All-Star Music Festival

    130th anniversary

Škoda employees experienced one of the highlights of this year’s 130th anniversary celebrations when they gathered in their thousands in the heart of Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav for the Music Festival. Four performers took to the stage at the D7 parking area between the Laurin & Klement Campus and the M13 Hall: Calin, the Wotazník employee band, Ewa Farna and Kabát. Libor Bouček hosted the programme, and the Škoda Elroq Respectline concept had its Czech premiere there.

We began preparations in the autumn of 2024, and the team, which initially met once a month, included about 20 colleagues from logistics, production, plant security and ŠKO-ENERGO. From the beginning of the year, the meetings intensified, and external partners also became involved. The priority was to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors. When selecting the repertoire, we aimed to appeal to most generations, and we also paid attention to refreshments. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the organisation for their commitment and professional approach.

Calin kicked off the festival and quickly got everyone involved in his performance. He was followed by the Wotazník rock band, which you chose yourselves. Ewa Farna drew the audience to the stage shortly before 7 p.m., and the eagerly awaited highlight of the evening, the performance by Kabát, followed after a short greeting from Maren Gräf and Jaroslav Povšík. “V pekle sudy válej” and other hits were accompanied by an impressive show of lights and pyrotechnic effects. A perfect ending to the whole event!

    Preparations in a nutshell

Approximately 100 employees, and on the day of the event more than 2,600 people, were involved in organising the festival. Preparations culminated in the takeover of the D7 area, where a 49-metre-wide stage structure began to rise on 5 May. The stage area measured 16 × 10 metres. Just three days after the event, the D7 parking area had resumed its original function.

    130th anniversary

In early May, the Communications team visited the plants in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Vrchlabí. At the busiest locations, the team personally handed out the brand-new May 2025 issue of Škoda Mobil, featuring a special historical supplement: 130 Years in Motion. All this was done in style, with team members dressed in period costumes from the 1930s and 1940s. “We were delighted by your compliments and the amused smiles you gave us. We were simply unmissable. This was especially true in the entrance hall of the Laurin & Klement Kampus, where the atmosphere of years gone by was enhanced by the beautiful Škoda Popular Monte Carlo, accompanied by period background music. We tried to transport you back in time with all your senses, and it seems we succeeded,” says Dominika Králová, editor-in-chief of Škoda Mobil.

    Celebrations continue in June

Another major event to mark the 130th anniversary takes place on 14 June, when Family Day will be held at the airport in Mladá Boleslav. It will feature not only an air show but also the opportunity to see the aircraft up close, meet the pilots and get a glimpse into the world of flying. As a bonus, admission to the Škoda Museum and the Metoděj Vlach Aviation Museum in Mladá Boleslav will be free of charge all day.

VWITS currently has around 3,700 employees, more than 100 of whom work for Škoda Auto. The plan is to increase this number to 250 within two years. The Czech branch itself has 15 employees, with plans to increase this number to 30.

Successful joint projects include the Škoda E-Shop, Adobe Experience Manager digital content management, sales project support and cooperation with the VW Group.

Holger Peter, Board Member for Finance, IT and Legal Affairs, also spoke at the event.

Laying the groundwork for effective cooperation

However, it was not just about introducing VWITS. An important part of IT India week included intercultural sessions focusing on various aspects of Indian culture, such as communication styles, work ethic and professional norms. These presentations helped participants to understand the cultural differences that are essential for effective teamwork. Interactive sessions enabled participants to share their experiences and explore future collaboration opportunities.

Škoda Auto employees were introduced to leading IT companies from India and their innovations.

On 1 April, the Procurement department organised the India Software Summit in the Laurin & Klement Campus conference hall, which included a series of presentations and partner stands. It showcased a wide range of solutions, from software tools to advanced algorithms and application development platforms. This was one of the most interactive segments of the programme and allowed participants to gain practical experience and make new contacts.

The India Software Summit provided not only new insights and inspiration but also a chance to build business relationships and partnerships.

Karsten Schnake, Board Member for Procurement, and Jan Kavalírek, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, also gave presentations. “I am proud that we welcomed leading Indian technology companies to Mladá Boleslav, where they presented their latest technologies and knowledge for the future of mobility to our colleagues,” said K. Schnake. The programme culminated in a panel discussion moderated by Michal Marček from the BC department.

Participants included Eric Boutin, Head of VX – Customer Journey, Marek Hlávka, Head of FIG – IT Governance, Security and Service Management, and Michal Bubeníček, Director and Partner at Etnetera Motion and a recognised AI expert.

  • When Bubbles Connect

In May, Škoda Auto once again joined the European Diversity Month, which highlights the importance of equality, respect, and inclusion not only in the workplace but also in society. Throughout the month, 15 events took place. A themed exhibition on diversity and inclusion at Škoda Auto was open to the public at the Laurin & Klement Kampus, which also included an interactive Diversity Day.

    When Bubbles Connect

In May, Škoda Auto once again joined the European Diversity Month initiative, which highlights the importance of equality, respect and inclusion both in the workplace and in society more broadly.

This year, the carmaker took the initiative as a call to connect across experiences, environments and social ‘bubbles’. Under the slogan, “Your bubble is one of many. Get to know the others,” it offered a rich programme full of opportunities for discovery, inspiration and new contacts.

A thematic exhibition on diversity and inclusion at Škoda Auto was open all month at the Laurin & Klement Campus and showcased real-life examples. It also included Diversity Day, a one-day event full of interactive experiences. Employee resource groups like Internationals@Škoda, Škoda Proud and WomeN@work were presented at the stands, along with new motivational stickers. The SE – Škoda Academy team also presented its activities, emphasising the role of education in promoting diversity and inclusion, particularly through the Degreed platform, which offers the opportunity to broaden horizons across topics and cultures.

Running in parallel was the Simply Diverse Challenge competition, which introduced new diversity-related challenges every week. Participants were playfully reminded how important it is to see the world through the eyes of others. In the end, almost 15 events were organised.

    New Annual Diversity Report

At the end of the month, the 2024 Diversity Annual Report was published, summarising everything Škoda Auto has achieved in this area and outlining the direction for the future. You can find it in the online version of Škoda Mobil.

    Martina Zimmermann

Diversity Coordinator from the SX – Transformation department

May reminded us that diversity is not just about differences but also about connection, understanding and mutual enrichment. Each of us brings our unique bubble to work. And it is when we bring all these bubbles together that a strong, inclusive and innovative corporate culture is created. We would like to thank everyone who participated and look forward to taking further steps together towards a more open future.

    Respectline: diversity on wheels

One of the highlights of Diversity Month was the grand premiere of the special Škoda Elroq Respectline model, which represents the carmaker’s commitment to human rights, sustainability and respect for diversity.

The Respectline model is more than just a car; it is a visual and values-driven expression of Škoda Auto’s understanding of diversity as a key principle of modern society and corporate culture. The car was born as a joint project of people from several departments at Škoda Auto.

We’re proud of our commitment to promoting principles that strengthen mutual respect, and we believe that the new Elroq Respectline will help spread these ideas further.

“Roughly the same team worked on this car as on the previous model, so we already knew each other well. It was fun to create, and you can feel that playfulness inside,” says Petr Kavrentzis, Elroq Respectline project coordinator from the GKP – Product Communication department. “The world is full of colour, whether we’re talking about actual colours or, figuratively speaking, diverse opinions and attitudes. And that’s exactly what the Elroq Respectline demonstrates: the diversity and variety of human beings,” says designer Daniel Petr, creator of the exterior design from EDE/2 – Exterior Design – Team 2.

    Oliver Stefani

Head of ED – Škoda Design

Pride Month, to my mind, stands for visibility, openness and a celebration of diversity. It reminds us that identity isn’t something secondary. It belongs at the heart of any modern organisation. With the Škoda Elroq Respectline project, we’re showing that this mindset can be expressed not only through communication but also through design itself. It shows that design can be more than form: It can express values and attitudes. This project reflects our commitment to progressive design that highlights openness and respect: it is bold, colourful and instantly recognisable.

    Diversity contributes to good design

    Oliver Stefani

Head of ED – Škoda Design

What does the Respectline project mean to you personally?

I see the Elroq Respectline as a statement not only in terms of content, but visually as well. It shows that design can be more than just form: It can express values and attitudes. This project reflects our commitment to progressive design that highlights openness and respect: bold, colourful and instantly recognisable.

Why are different ways of thinking and experiences an advantage in technical development?

In design processes, it is essential to have diversity and change perspective. These facets make teams more creative, agile and open to new paths. Different backgrounds bring fresh impulses, and that’s often the source of most of our relevant ideas. Good design thrives on dialogue, variety and the willingness to rethink the familiar.

How do you experience respect and collaboration in your day-to-day work?

In my design team, we place great value on exchange and mutual appreciation. Good ideas arise through dialogue, especially when people with different viewpoints come together. To me, respect means creating room for creativity, opinions and individuality. We constantly inspire one another, which leads to solutions that are powerful, unexpected and meaningful. Diversity is a continuous source of inspiration that expands our perspective.

What role does mutual appreciation play in the success of specialised teams?

Appreciation drives both quality and speed. Our projects are complex, interdisciplinary and often fast-paced, so how we work together is critical. We find it enriching to include different perspectives and learn from each other. Strong teams reveal themselves in how openly they engage with diversity and how clearly they share a common goal.

What does Pride Month mean to you personally?

Pride Month, to my mind, stands for visibility, openness and a celebration of diversity. It reminds us that identity isn’t something secondary. It belongs at the heart of any modern organisation. With Respectline, we’re showing that this mindset can be expressed not only through communication but also through design itself.

    June Pride Month

Pride Month takes place every year in June and commemorates the events of 1969, when the LGBT+ community in New York stood up against unjust police raids.

These riots sparked the modern LGBT+ rights movement, and the rainbow flag became a symbol of equality, freedom and acceptance. Škoda Auto actively participates in Pride Month celebrations by displaying rainbow flags in Mladá Boleslav and supporting events such as the Prague Pride festival. This action signals a clear commitment: It supports an open, diverse and respectful working environment for all. We interviewed Johannes Neft, Board Member for Technical Development, and Oliver Stefani, Head of ED – Škoda Design, on this topic. The full interviews can be found in the online version of Škoda Mobil.

    Škoda Proud

The Škoda Proud employee group has also been active at the carmaker since 2021, promoting LGBT+ people and openness within the company. The group has more than 100 members and aims to build a working environment where everyone feels safe and can fully realise their potential regardless of their identity. It organises educational events, lectures, informal meetings and trips. At its core, it is about jointly creating a friendly, diverse and open corporate environment for everyone. Anyone can join the Škoda Proud employee group. Just send an e-mail.

    Johannes Neft

    Board Member for Technical Development

Pride Month serves as a reminder to reflect on how we work together. Do all colleagues have the space to contribute their strengths? Can they work in ways that reflect who they are? Creating that kind of environment benefits not only our people but also our processes, products and the company as a whole.

    Combining technical strengths and values

    Johannes Neft

    Board Member for Technical Development

What does the Respectline project mean to you personally?

I view the Respectline as a sign that technical development is about more than innovation; it's also about our approach. It reflects a modern view of progress: visible, concrete and unifying. This project unites our technical strengths with the values that shape our success.

Why are different ways of thinking and experiences an advantage in technical development?

In our international teams, we see every day how valuable diverse perspectives can be, shaped by different cultures, educational backgrounds or life experiences. They help us to respond faster to new requirements and develop better technical solutions. Diversity improves decision-making and strengthens our long-term competitiveness.

How do you experience respect and collaboration in your day-to-day work?

Respect is the foundation of effective collaboration, especially when experts from different fields work together. I find that openness to different approaches doesn’t slow us down; on the contrary, it speeds us up. Where people work with mutual respect, we see trust, clarity and strong results.

What role does mutual appreciation play in the success of specialised teams?

Appreciation makes us more effective. When contributions are taken seriously, regardless of role, background or lifestyle, teams work with more focus, greater speed and clearer direction. In the end, what matters most is how each person contributes to the shared outcome.

What does Pride Month mean to you personally?

For me, Pride Month serves as a reminder to reflect on how we work together. Do all colleagues have the space to contribute their strengths? Can they work in ways that reflect who they are? Creating that kind of environment benefits not only our people but also our processes, products and the company as a whole.
