Happening at ŠKODA AUTO
ENYAQ iV for the EU presidency
ŠKODA AUTO has won the tender to supply vehicles to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. It will use them for the duration of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council, which the Czech Republic assumed on 1 July. The ENYAQ iV 80x electric cars were delivered in their Black Magic colour and with the EcoSuite interior made of sustainable materials. They will use the Chargee solution with more than 2,000 charging points for convenient charging, as well as four wallboxes in the garages of the Czech Government Office and a mobile hub with 15 charging points, which was set up at the Prague Congress Centre. The carmaker is building on its services during the first Czech Presidency in 2009, when the SUPERB cars served the same purpose.
ENYAQ iV cars to transport top European politicians were handed over by the car company to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic.
Consolidation of ŠKODA trademarks
ŠKODA AUTO and the engineering companies within the PPF Group–owned Škoda Group have reached an agreement on the ŠKODA trademarks. As a result, the carmaker expects to significantly expand its existing trademark ownership rights. This is a milestone in the future development of ŠKODA AUTO in the Czech Republic and other markets around the world. “This step is fully in line with the goals we have set ourselves in the company-wide NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030. We wish to become one of the Top 5 best-selling brands in Europe by the end of this decade, and a stronger and even more unified brand is one of the prerequisites for achieving this,” said Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, and Christian Schenk, Board Member for Finances and IT, in their joint statement.
Ask Klaus
ŠKODA AUTO’s new CEO, Klaus Zellmer, took office on 1 July. The experienced manager presented his life journey and the new developments to look forward to in the near future and in the years to come in an introductory video, which you can watch on ŠKODA Space. Zellmer will also be happy to answer your questions via the new “Ask Klaus” format, which you can find on ŠKODA Space. Models and services
Return to Le Mans
The original ŠKODA Sport car returned to the vintage Le Mans Classic race in early July. This special car, based on the TUDOR model, was the last Czech car with a Czech crew to take part in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950. Michal Velebný, who is the GKM/3 coordinator – Renovation Shop and grandson of the body design’s creator, Josef Velebný, took turns behind the wheel with driver Stanislav Kafka, and together they finished 43rd in category 2 for cars from 1949–1956. The organisers gave the car the same starting number (44) as before its first start on the famous loop.
First interior sketch of the VISION 7S
ŠKODA introduces its new design language with the first interior sketch of its all-electric VISION 7S. It shows a spacious car with a completely new, variable interior and space for up to seven people. Its passengers enjoy a balanced set of touchscreen and digital controls. The new design language is characterised by minimalist shapes, high functionality, intuitive control of digital technology and sustainable materials.

You can win a car in the ZEBRA Raffle again
The SP/2 Improvement Department supported by the KOVO Trade Union is once again launching its ZEBRA – RAFFLE incentive campaign, in which you can win your own ŠKODA car. The competition was suspended last year due to a significant shortage of cars for customers as a result of the supply shortage of certain components. Therefore, periods in which no draw took place will be included in the draw. The draw for the period from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2022 will take place in September, with the cars scheduled to be handed over to the winners in October 2022.

Cars for social services
For the fourth time, ŠKODA AUTO has supported social services in the vicinity of its Kvasiny plant by lending eight cars, most of which are OCTAVIA COMBIs. The supported institutions include the nursing services of Dobruška, Vamberk, Rokytnice v Orlických horách and Kvasiny, the Institute of Social Care for Youth in Kvasiny, Dědina Home in Opočno, the Mental Health Care Centre in Rychnov nad Kněžnou and the Home Care Centre in Rychnov nad Kněžnou. The cars will be used to transport these institutions’ employees during their frequent trips to visit their clients, thereby improving the accessibility of social services in the foothill region.
Children design a car for Hospital Clowns
This year, two decades of partnership between the Hospital Clowns and ŠKODA AUTO will be commemorated with the Car for the Hospital Clowns art competition. “At the end of September, we will be handing over our two ENYAQ COUPÉ iV cars to the Hospital Clowns to support their important work. I am particularly excited about the idea of getting the children at hospitals and social care facilities actively involved in designing the look of the cars so they can have some fun,” says Maren Gräf, Board Member for the People and Culture area. The competition runs until the end of July and aims to raise the profile of the important mission of the Hospital Clowns. In August, two winning designs will emerge from the 20 finalists and will appear on our cars in September.
You can submit your children's designs by the end of July via this website:

Production
The 5G network expands production possibilities
The carmaker has launched its private 5G corporate network at its main production plant in Mladá Boleslav, which will enable extremely fast and reliable data transmissions. The project, implemented in cooperation with Vodafone, is being used in the pilot phase for extensive testing in real conditions and further development of the technology. It will also be used in the autonomous transport of newly manufactured cars and in the field of predictive production or in the ŠKODA FabLab. The project, which represents an important step towards the Smart Factory concept, will increase the efficiency and flexibility of future production.
Sustainability
ŠKODA AUTO at the Greentech Festival
ŠKODA AUTO participated in the Greentech Festival in June, which focused on innovative sustainable technologies. Karsten Schnake, Board Member for Purchasing, spoke about supply chains, the circular economy and sustainable materials in a panel discussion. On the road to transformation
Christian Schenk, Board Member for Finance and IT, explains the transformation of these sectors in the automotive industry
Dear colleagues,
The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation, as highlighted in June by the EU countries agreeing to significantly restrict the sale of combustion engine cars from 2035. ŠKODA AUTO is not only ready for the changes but leading the charge. This also applies to the Finance and IT area, which is supporting the carmaker’s transformation with its own sophisticated strategy (more about this on here). Its main goal is for the F area to be a transparent and trustworthy partner in all respects by motivating and setting the right conditions for ŠKODA AUTO to successfully achieve the goals of the company-wide NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030. Multinational F-teams with great diversity, creativity and motivation are working on 21 projects to get Finance and Legal to the next level. It may be the biggest movement that Finance has seen for many years.
There is also the Accelerate IT 2.0 strategy under the umbrella of the F-strategy. However, it is interlinked in many ways with the Finance and Legal strategy, just as teams throughout the F area must be closely linked. And this cannot be done without strong collaboration between teams from the Finance and IT departments.
There are many more common points, all of which support the goals of the entire automotive company. These include, above all, customer orientation in all areas. The people who buy our cars, as well as internal customers or partners who use our services, must always have a first-class customer experience.
And speaking of “IT people”, their importance in the automotive industry will continue to grow. They are the driving force behind the advancing complex digitisation, which covers production, technical development and administration. ŠKODA AUTO also plays an important role in this respect throughout the VW Group. Thanks to its extensive know-how, it has been able, for example, to set up a competence centre for the SAP information system, which is essential for managing a number of company processes. From the Czech Republic, this continuously growing team provides services to Group customers all over the world (read more in the February 2022 issue of ŠKODA Mobil).
The transformation also brings a strong focus on sustainable operations, products and financing. The direction is clearly set by the ESG criteria of the European Union (Environment, Social, Governance), and to be a competitive company, we must lead this direction. Our F-team will take this role!

Tour de France
Tour de France
Engine of Cycling
ŠKODA cars once again play a key role in the organisation of the Tour de France. The women’s Tour will also receive big support this year
specially modified red ENYAQ iV with race director Christian Prudhomme was at the start of the Tour de France in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 1 July and will also cross the finish line in Paris on 24 July. The so-called Red Car with its electric drive will accompany the peloton on the most famous race for the third time and complete most of the stages. In addition to the ENYAQ iV, the ŠKODA fleet also includes the OCTAVIA and SUPERB iV with plug-in hybrid drives. The carmaker is a traditional sponsor of the scoring as well, with the leader wearing a green jersey with the ŠKODA logo. The crystal trophies for the overall winners are designed by ŠKODA Design. What else did the Czech carmaker present during the Tour de France this year? ED
Our long-term support of cycling is one of the pillars of our sponsorship. It represents
an ideal match with the carmaker, since its founders, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, already produced bicycles.

Sustainable tyres
ŠKODA also has sustainability in mind when working with the race organisers. It does not stop at its electric drive. For the ENYAQ iV fleet, it uses tyres from its partner, Continental, containing additives made from recycled materials. The structure material consists exclusively of recycled PET bottles. In addition to safety, this innovation also ensures exceptional driving performance with minimal environmental impacts. These tyres for ŠKODA models are custom-developed. In close cooperation with its partners, the carmaker plans to use tyres made from sustainable materials in its future serial production as well.

You have to love it. We all do.
In addition to ŠKODA's direct and highly visible presence at the races, the carmaker also uses its partnership with the Tour de France in its media communications. Its customers include a whole host of cycling fans, who are targeted by a daily barrage of interesting information and videos on Facebook, Instagram, in TV commercials and also on the Welovecycling.com website, which provides plenty of insights into cycling behind the scenes. The whole campaign is accompanied by the motto “You have to love it. We all do.” GIFs – animated images that fans can send to each other, for example, when communicating via Messenger – are also new this year.

Cooperation with celebrities
In 2013, Czech Paralympic cyclist Jiří Ježek took part in the Tour de France time trial as a forerunner and relied on the support of ŠKODA AUTO. He has been working with the carmaker ever since, and as ŠKODA’s so-called content expert, he mingled with the race’s spectators. Former Luxembourg racer Andy Schleck, who can boast a victory in the 2010 Tour de France, was involved in the same task of providing cycling fans with behind-the-scenes information and other interesting content. And one of the world’s best female cyclists, Katarzyna Niewiadoma from Poland, has also linked her name with ŠKODA for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
The women’s race returns in style
The Tour de France has given room to women’s cycling in the past, but it has always been overshadowed by the men’s race. In recent years, it has only been a one- or two-day race slotted into the main programme. This year, however, women’s cycling will finally get more room. The eight-day Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift kicks off in Paris on Sunday 24 July, when the men’s tour finishes at the same venue, culminating in a mountain stage on La Planche des Belles Filles. ŠKODA AUTO will not be absent, as it is also the main partner for this race and will provide the organisers with the brand’s cars.
NFT Posters
ŠKODA AUTO will celebrate the first year of the Tour de France Femmes women's stage race with its special collection of digital NFTs (non-fungible tokens), following a similar event at the recent World Cup (more in the June 2022 issue of ŠKODA Mobil). This time, artist Ilona Polanski has created eight animated posters inspired by women’s cycling, which will be available via a dedicated website and social networks. Every illustration will then be offered by the carmaker free of charge to interested parties in a limited number of 30 NFTs. In addition, the fastest among them will receive a green ŠKODA jersey at every stage.
The NFT poster campaign will run at weareridinghistory.io.
L’Étape du
L'Etape du Tour
Amateur test in the Alpine stage
For the 30th time, amateurs were given the opportunity to race during the world’s most famous cycling race at the one-day event L'Étape du Tour. Of course, ŠKODA AUTO was one of the partners.
his year, it took place on Sunday, 10 July, and the route followed the later stage of the main race from Briançon via the Col du Galibier and Col de la Croix de Fer to the final climb up the Alpe d’Huez. Some 16,000 participants from all over the world set off in terrible heat. Among them were the four lucky winners of a competition between the We Love Cycling magazine and ŠKODA to win a race entry with VIP service. They were able to enjoy similar top-class facilities as the stars of world cycling during the three-week race. They were then accompanied into the event by top cyclists Jiří Ježek and Cameron Jeffers as team captains. You can experience the atmosphere of the Tour de France in the Czech Republic as well. This year, for the second time, the local event of the amateur race, L’Etape Czech Republic by Tour de France, took place. It took its participants on a circuit leading through Prague and the Křivoklát region. As the general partner of the race, ŠKODA AUTO prepared its rich supporting programme. The next year of the race is scheduled for 10 June 2023, and you can register now already. ED

Smart Solutions Reduce Cost
We are looking for early measures that will help us to save money in the start-up and subsequent production of ŠKODA cars, say the guarantors of the F5 and F6 action fields
he Competitive Cost Structure (F5) and New Startup Challenges (F6) action fields are looking for ways to produce cars as efficiently as possible. Their guarantors, Jan Ryšavý (F5), the expert coordinator of the FCP – Controlling Production and Logistics department, and David Šenkýř (F6), the project manager of the A0 SUV INDIA 2.0 from the PAX – Special Project Launch Management department, explain how intensive their efforts will be.
The coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine have had significant impacts on your action fields. What have you had to deal with?
J. Ryšavý: Current events are putting upward pressure on the cost per car produced. This is not just the result of chip shortages or rising prices of basic raw materials, but costs are also rising as the production rate falls. We must, therefore, look for ways to be as efficient as possible, even in such cases.
D. Šenkýř: We’re now completing the final phase of the INDIA 2.0 project, in which the production of four cars was launched in India. Last year and the year before, we were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic during the start-up phase. We had to extend pre-production due to lockdowns and ultimately postpone the start of serial production by about two months. Subsequently, there were component supply shortages, which complicated our ability to meet the start-up curve as originally planned.
Together, we’re looking for cost savings BEFORE car production gets up and running.
What have you achieved despite these difficulties?
J. Ryšavý: Even though we are increasingly resorting to smaller measures that do not have such a big impact on costs, we managed to reduce our production costs about 2% per car in the first half of the year. We’ve achieved this mainly thanks to our optimised logistics and more sophisticated planning of machine maintenance on the production lines. We’ve started focusing on cost optimisation, specifically in connection with the reduction of production volumes so that we can carry out certain work less frequently or with a different intensity.
D. Šenkýř: Despite all the difficulties, we managed to “overfill” the start-up curve for the fourth-generation FABIA, KUSHAQ and SLAVIA models, which contributed to the entire carmaker’s positive result. This is, I think, a really big achievement.
How intensively do you address the cost of ‘every screw’ in the F5 action box?
J. Ryšavý: The cost of producing a car does not depend only of the price of parts, which, of course, we also strive to keep in check, but also other costs: for example, overheads, such as adhesives, oils and tools, then various services, such as technological cleaning, regular cleaning etc. In particular, energy costs are rising sharply, so we’re trying to optimise them in all areas.
Which of the recent start-ups has been the most difficult and why?
D. Šenkýř: From the point of view of Czech plants, there was very difficult situation with the launch of the ENYAQ COUPÉ iV, which was postponed several times for a few reasons. We could have started production at the beginning of this year, but then Russia started the war in Ukraine, and we found ourselves without the cable harnesses that are produced there. Among the foreign plants, it was clearly launch of the INDIA 2.0 project, in which the main challenge was the 95% localisation of parts in the Indian market and the impossibility of sending a sufficient number of specialists to the site due to the covid-19 pandemic. I must, however, commend the workers at the Puna plant for handling this launch excellently.
How are your action fields interconnected?
D. Šenkýř: It is mainly in terms of finances. In both cases, we’re looking for savings even before production is fully up and running. For example, we’re trying to optimise the start-up of the individual derivative models and trim levels because even this kind of detail brings savings and interesting profits.
J. Ryšavý: I agree – we put a lot of emphasis on finance. We look for savings not only in our start-up costs but also in our subsequent production costs.
What are your plans for the rest of this year?
J. Ryšavý: They will involve further optimisations and savings. We wish to support production so that it’s as busy as possible and has as few downtimes as possible.
D. Šenkýř: The second half of this year's launch management is clearly in the spirit of preparations for the 2023 launches, especially the construction of test cars for the SCALA/KAMIQ and ENYAQ iV/KAROQ/FABIA models, but also the qualification of equipment in the welding shop in 18-shift mode for the ramp-up of the successor to the KODIAQ. I Keep Learning Something New
Once upon a time, Zoltán Hakkel started with a hammer and a sledgehammer, but nowadays, he operates robots and digital equipment at the Welding Plant.
Zoltán Hakkel
Mechatronics mechanics PF2-K – Welding Plant Maintenance MB II
What led you to work at ŠKODA AUTO?
I moved from my native Slovakia to the Czech Republic for work at the age of 26. When the carmaker was looking for employees for the first-generation OCTAVIA project in 1995, I didn’t hesitate to apply.
How did you start working at the carmaker?
I joined ŠKODA AUTO as a worker at the M12 Welding Plant. After six months of training, I was already helping with production of the OCTAVIA model as a full-fledged adjuster. That is when I learned the most, and I still draw on that knowledge today. In 1997, I joined the Maintenance department of the Welding Plant, and when production of the new FABIA model started three years later, I moved on to this project as an experienced maintainer. Today, I’m the team coordinator of one of the four Maintenance departments at the MB II Welding Plant in Hall M14.
What contribution have you personally made to the carmaker?
After 27 years, I can pass on my experience to younger colleagues in both maintenance and production. In my long-term work with the plant, I use my experience to create ZEBRA improvement proposals. Above all, I look for new methods and process solutions to help us repair machines and equipment. I also work closely with the Welding Plant specialists to automate and digitise the individual processes. For example, I’m currently involved in a new project for the Special Welding Pliers Repair Shop that is being built in Hall M14.
Is the work in production challenging, and in what ways?
Definitely yes, mainly because of the constant development of modern production processes. You have to keep learning new things and never stop moving forward. ED
Green Future / FabLab
Well-Oiled Machines Go Further
How Central Technical Service workers extend the life of oils at FabLab
lmost all industrial machinery uses oil as a lubricant, and around 19 million tonnes of industrial lubricants are consumed worldwide every year. However, an even greater amount of crude oil is used to produce them, and the extraction comes at a huge environmental and, at present, economic cost. The process of oil formation took millions of years. After that, vast amounts of time, energy and money are needed to extract, transport, refine and produce the oil. Therefore, should we not be doing everything we can to extend the life of the used oil for as long as possible?
In the past 10 years, the thermal stress on the machinery has been increasing. This is due to the greater demands for efficiency and operationality, as well as higher machine operating temperatures. Oils in machinery and equipment degrade during operation, and their poor condition and quality are behind the vast majority of breakdowns. Frequent downtime associated with millions in losses can be avoided.
The oil is mixed with a concentrate of suitable additives so that the machines can operate for years.
Prevention is the best care
To reduce our CO₂ emissions and the amount of oil disposed of and to extend its service life, the PSZ – Central Technical Service department employees use a technology called oil additivation. This is a method used to add additives to used oils, thereby restoring their original technological properties (the principle can be compared to vitamin supplementation in the human body). The process allows industrial oils to withstand thermal stress even in the most demanding applications while providing wear protection – not only to the oils but also to the machinery. The benefits of this innovative technology are primarily in the form of the improved condition and extended life of oils and machinery, reduced replacement and maintenance costs and reduced environmental impact. ED
1 021
oil samples are tested annually at FABLAB.
364
machines fall under the responsibility of FABLAB.
600
m³ of oil are contained in these machines.
700,000
euros are saved annually by FABLAB on new oil purchases.
How is additivation done?
1 The FabLab determines the lubricant’s condition and its additive components’ depletion by analysing the lubricants through appropriate methods (e.g. the Ruler method). The analysis is used to check whether the process is even possible and whether the oil will accept the additives as it is not a given.
2 Then, using special tribodiagnostic methods, it determines the suitability of the oil for additivation. These are cases where the base oil still has good properties, but the content of additives has decreased.
3 According to the results of these tests, the used additives (e.g. antioxidants, antifoaming additives, detergents) are added to the oil in concentrate form to a quantity that matches the new oil’s parameters.
4 Laboratory tests will then confirm that everything is as expected and that the oil’s technological properties have improved.
Green Future / Revitalization
Garden Revitalisation
ur employees of the PF1 – Car Production MB I department have been helping the Czech Red Cross Care Home in Mladá Boleslav for the third year already. This non-profit organisation provides long-term in-patient, nursing and palliative care to its clients. Three years ago, Michaela Mittnerová, the director of the facility, introduced its principles and functioning to the ŠKODA AUTO employees and convinced the PF1 team members to support this non-profit organisation in the long term by donating both money and their spare time. While they all worked on beautifying the grounds and adjacent land last year, they were faced with work related to garden revitalisation. They also supported the Care Home with a fundraiser, raising CZK 51,600 among them. “I would like to thank the whole team for their financial and physical help and participation. This May, we carried out our first event of the year at the CRC Care Home, but we’ll be back! We have to keep the garden in this condition, and we also promised to help build a rest area for the staff,” says Jan Umlauf, Head of the PF1 department. ED
Purchasing
Purchasing
Optimisations must not be felt by customers
ŠKODA AUTO applies the value engineering method
his method, which leads to big savings, is also in use by other premium car brands around the world. Simply put, value engineering is about finding what customers really see as value and, therefore, as a reason to buy. This can reduce the cost of elements that do not add value for the customer while not affecting the maintenance of high-quality standards or safety. Therefore, ŠKODA AUTO created the BW – Value Engineering unit in the Purchasing area at the beginning of last year. Among other things, it is directly linked to the Mindset Change project (read more about it in the May 2022 issue of ŠKODA Mobil), which is part of the company-wide NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030. Specifically, the principle that the carmaker’s development has to be based on adding value for its customers.
The main motivation is clear: to maintain profitability at an increasingly challenging time for the automotive industry. One of ŠKODA’s strengths that have always been highly appreciated by customers is its excellent value for money. And optimising costs where it makes sense is absolutely in the spirit of ŠKODA’s DNA. But it is not necessarily about cost alone; it’s all about creating more value for the customer. Savings made during the car’s development then allow us to invest in what customers perceive as important, such as additional Simply Clever solutions. This can help to increase customer satisfaction, differentiate the brand from its competitors and, ultimately, increase sales.
Emphasis also on sustainability
Value engineering goes hand in hand with sustainability, which is an important value for both ŠKODA AUTO and its customers. Together with Technical Development and suppliers, the Purchasing departments are implementing the Sustainable Innovation project, which aims to find suitable technical solutions that deliver greater value while being more environmentally friendly. Some of the innovations resulting from the first phase of the project have already been implemented or will be deployed shortly. These include tanning leather by using coffee bean husks instead of chemicals, as well as reducing material consumption in body painting. ED
Lukáš Mistr
Head of BW – Value Engineering
The customer is always at the centre of our attention. The key is to identify potential savings at an early stage of the project, create space for investment in innovative features or enrich the cars with additional ŠKODA DNA. This can be anything from Simply Clever solutions to specific elements attractive in individual markets.
Examples of potential savings that most customers do not experience
Reduced painting of non-visible parts on seat frames. Competition shows potential savings in this area.
Only equip the luggage compartment with mesh upon request. The mesh option is very popular with plenty of customers, but some drivers will never use it.
Optimise the acceptability catalogue of leather defects to allow more of it to be used, including some inherent flaws. Our standards are at a premium level that needs to be maintained; however, it is necessary to accept minor defects that the natural material brings with it if they do not affect the product’s functionality or overall appearance. This will have a positive effect on both the cost and the amount of waste produced.

Clear and Reliable Partner for Others
Interview with Václav Ledvinka,
Head of SO – ŠKODA AUtO Corporate SecurityHow do you understand the term integrity?
Reliability towards one’s partners, one’s colleagues and oneself. Being able to expect that what was said would actually be done according to the rules, whether moral or written.
From your point of view, why is it important for ŠKODA AUTO that its employees act in accordance with the integrity principles?
For the sake of transparent internal and external cooperation and to ensure that the results are achieved, including securing the future of the carmaker. Within the context of current events, it is becoming increasingly clear that the transparency and integrity of conduct are important for ŠKODA AUTO’s future, not only within the company but also towards the public.
We create
patterns of
behaviour in
ordinary and
less ordinary
situations
through our
actions.
As a manager, how specifically do you try to communicate and promote the principles of integrity within your department?
First and foremost, I try to conduct myself in such a way as to be a clear and reliable partner for my colleagues. I expect the same behaviour from them, and I constantly communicate this to them. In this way, we establish patterns of behaviour in ordinary and less ordinary situations. Of course, we also use the information and study materials that are available.
Describe a specific situation where you have had to choose between following the rules and following your personal convictions.
I probably can’t think of a specific case, but I deal with plenty of situations where I have to choose between the “easier” solution and following the rules. In my case, following the rules wins, even though it may not always be the most direct route. ED

They Treat Customers with Honesty
Croatian campaign shows how an honest approach to customers can increase customer satisfaction despite longer delivery times
In addition to an explanatory letter, customers contacted by post received a gift of a ŠKODA blanket.
he carmaker is currently undergoing a lot of changes. It has come up with a new ŠKODA brand mission and corporate mindset, which is reflected in an even more honest and friendly approach to customers. An example of the new approach to corporate culture, focusing on openness and a ‘Me and the Customer’ perspective (more in the May 2022 issue of ŠKODA Mobil), is the campaign prepared by the team of Croatian importer. They decided to honestly explain to customers what was behind the long delivery times of the cars. Because of the current situation, the customer could understandably perceive them negatively and, without knowing the context, might blame the carmaker. The most prominent culprits are the chip supply shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the cable harness shortages as a result of the war in Ukraine.
The campaign has helped us to build a relationship with our customers that can survive tough challenges.
Elisabeth Novak Bruder
Brand Manager ŠKODA Porsche Croatia
Therefore, in Croatia, they have prepared a campaign called Thank You, which includes TV advertising, Internet banners, articles and a letter to customers who are waiting for their ordered ŠKODAs. “We believe in an open and honest approach to customers because in such a case, they will be loyal and stay with us even in difficult situations,” says Elisabeth Novak Bruder, Brand Manager ŠKODA at Porsche Croatia. “By telling the truth about our products and the associated restrictions, we’ve shown our customers that we’re not hiding anything. Such honesty helps to build trust,” adds E. Novak Bruder. She believes that this communication in Croatia will have a long-term positive effect on the carmaker’s relationship with its customers.
The advertising on TV explained to customers the reasons for the long (and often unclear) delivery times for new cars. The customers were invited to learn more details via a web banner saying "What are the consequences of the chip storage?", which arouse their curiosity. Moreover an explanatory letter together with a ŠKODA blanket have been sent to thank the waiting customers for their understanding and patience.
The whole crisis campaign idea developed very quickly. From the first creative ideas to the filming of the TV spots, it took just two weeks to prepare. Fourteen days that showed how ŠKODA really cares about its customers. ED
Anniversary / Emissions Centre
Anniversary
Quarter-Century of the Emissions Centre
The opening of the state-of-the-art exhaust emissions testing facility in 1997 was one of the carmaker’s milestones
n the mid-1990s, a new exhaust emissions testing facility was built in Česana. The goal was to facilitate the implementation of the Group’s engines in ŠKODA cars, as well as in-house development in line with European emissions legislation, the analysis of long-term tests and quality control of series production. It was designed to replace the original testing facility from 1977 whose parameters no longer met the legislative requirements. The commissioning ceremony took place 25 years ago, on 17 July 1997.
At that time, the equipment at the testing facility was at the very top of its field. On the ground floor, there was an air-conditioned area for tempering 16 cars, a workshop for installing measuring and diagnostic instruments, fuel economy for refuelling certified test fuel, a technical room for calibration gases for the individual analysers and, above all, three measuring boxes with Horiba analytical systems and Schenck cylindrical dynamometers. The third box was designed as a separate climate chamber allowing special measurements in a wide range of climatic conditions – in a temperature range from -35 °C to +65 °C and a relative humidity range from 10% to 90%. So, for example, low-temperature emissions measurements at -7 °C, startability tests at temperatures as low as -35°C and defog and defrost tests could also be carried out here.
The range of measurable drive types has gradually expanded to include alternative fuels (LPG, CNG, FlexFuel), hybrid drives (MHEV, PHEV) and electric cars.
Innovations did not surprise the testing facility
The testing facility has evolved over the years to be ready for the expected changes in propulsion, fuel, measurement technology and emissions legislation. All the measuring boxes have been equipped with technology for measuring cars with two driven axles, the speed limit of the cylinder dynamometers was pushed, braking power was increased, and measuring technology was refined. Thanks to modern equipment, the exhaust emissions testing facility is an important technical element of the unit’s development and meets all the tightening legislative requirements for reducing pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions. It fulfils the requirements for the introduction of new types of tests such as RDE (measuring emissions in real traffic while driving on the road) and the introduction of new procedures and technologies related to the growing share of electromobility.
Testing on the other bank
ŠKODA AUTO has increased production more than sevenfold over the past 25 years, so the testing facility has also had to grow in capacity. In 2015, the testing area was structurally expanded, and by installing parking stackers, the capacity increased to 44 cars. When even this was no longer enough, a second test facility was built on the other bank of the Jizera River next to the Motor Centre – the Emissions Centre South, which increased the capacity to measure not only emissions but also the electricity consumed, maximum range and operating characteristics of electric cars.
The first-generation FELICIA and OCTAVIA cars with petrol and diesel engines were measured at the testing facility in the old Česana. Today, the electric ENYAQ iV, hybrid SUPERB iV, fourth-generation diesel OCTAVIA, petrol FABIA and numerous other cars that customers will only find out about in the future are being tested here. Josef Žalud
Future of emissions measurement
ŠKODA AUTO’s Emissions Centre was the first laboratory in the VW Group to be certified with ISO 17025. Thanks to this and certificates from TÜV SÜD, TÜV NORD and ATEEL, it has the homologation competence to work on a larger scale on all projects coming the carmaker’s way – not only in the field of electric drives but also in the area of combustion engines, as ŠKODA AUTO is taking over worldwide responsibility for combustion engines on the VW Group’s global MQB27 platform.

Remembering the FAVORIT Model
Ulrich von Broock, who was involved in putting the powertrain in the breakthrough car in the 1980s, visits Česana
artin Hrdlička, Head of EP – Chassis and Powertrain Development, and his father, Petr, initiated the meeting, which took place on 30 June at the Emissions and Engine Centre of Technical Development. In the presence of current and former designers, Ulrich von Broock recalled the specifics that accompanied the development of the powertrain. In addition, he gave the Technical Development staff an expert presentation lasting several hours. He first came to Czechoslovakia in 1983 as an employee of Porsche at the invitation of Petr Hrdlička, then Director of Technical Development. Together with local design engineers, they worked out how to ensure the right driving and handling characteristics for the FAVORIT and avoid problems associated with vibration, noise and unpredictable kinetics during acceleration, braking and turns. All of these characteristics were largely influenced by the placement of the powertrain, which had to be completely new. Unlike previous ŠKODA models, the FAVORIT had front-wheel drive and an engine mounted transversely under the front bonnet.
Among the design engineers who solved the problem in the 1980s were those who have now become legends of Technical Development: Petr Hrdlička, Jan Babák, Václav Novák, Jaroslav Mansfeld, Miloš Dvořák, brothers Dušan Petrovický and Milan Petrovický, Stanislav Cinkl, as well as test drivers Oldřich Horsák, Miroslav Šlambora, and the late Jan Nepomucký. Most of them were in attendance for Ulrich von Broock’s visit. Thanks to their ingenuity, a solution was created that was not used by anyone else in the world at that time. It consisted of a three-point mechanism for attaching the powertrain, whose key part was the rubber engine mounting beds (so-called silent blocks). The design engineers are still proud of the location, shape and material that they used because this unique three-point engine suspension with a torque strut was implemented for the first time in the world in the FAVORIT model. To this day, this principle of front-wheel drive mounting has not been surpassed and is used by all manufacturers. This solution has made the FAVORIT a reliable car for drivers for decades.
After the lecture for current and former design engineers, Martin and Petr Hrdličkas went to the ŠKODA Museum with Ulrich von Broock, where they saw the exhibition that includes not only the ŠKODA FAVORIT but also archive contracts and materials from the 1980s when this important collaboration began. History / Crashtest
How It Started with Crash Tests
50 years ago, the first approved crash test in Czechoslovakia was carried out on the ŠKODA 100
ow did it happen that in May 1972, a model that had been in production for three years ran into a wall at the Institute for Motor Vehicle Research (ÚVMV) at Prague’s Ruzyně Airport? The reason had to do with the carmaker’s goal of exporting cars to France. It needed homologation, which was not required in the Eastern Bloc countries at the time. This included a crash test to check the steering column shifting towards the interior. “The test track and all the necessary equipment were built and constructed by the ÚVMV employees themselves,” says Rudolf Tesárek, an expert on the history of crash tests at the carmaker, who coordinated the operation and development of the crash test laboratory until the end of May and now works as a project coordinator for interior safety in the EKI – Car Interior Development department. To get the car up to speed, the team chose a steam rocket, which they also designed and built. During the test, they filled the rocket’s tank with water, which the electric heating coils converted into rich steam. Once it reached the desired temperature and pressure, the nozzle opened and the rocket noisily blasted off. It pushed the car in front of it on a directional rail that ended about 5 metres in front of a concrete wall. The rocket was stopped at this point by the wedge brake while the car continued forward. Under the homologation terms, the car had to head towards the fixed obstacle at a speed of 48.3 km/h with a tolerance of an additional 5 kilometres per hour. At that time, the speed was determined by empirically determined formulas and the experience of the test engineers, and several test runs were also made in the opposite direction of the track.
The first test was attended by French inspectors and was filmed with a high-speed camera on conventional 35mm film. Only after it had been developed and processed was it possible to assess whether the movement of the steering column during the impact fulfilled the requirements. The ŠKODA 100 passed the test. The first official crash test on Czech territory was thoroughly recorded on video. The test device of the time – the steam rocket – did not fare as well. “Today, unfortunately, we only have a replica of it; the original was stolen when the workplace was moved,” says Tesárek.
In the 1970s, after this first experience, there was a great boom in crash testing, and the ÚVMV built a new laboratory in Prague–Letňany (more about that in the February 2020 issue of ŠKODA Mobil). This was also used for testing ŠKODA cars until 1996, when it was replaced by the test facility in Úhelnice, which is still in use today. RED

How to Make Electronic Signatures
ŠKODA AUTO’s electronic document signing capabilities will be complemented by a comprehensive Adobe Sign solution
n electronic signature is a useful tool to replace a handwritten signature for data that only travels digitally. Of course, it is not enough to sign a document by hand and “digitise” it by scanning it – you need to use the tools designed for this purpose. ŠKODA AUTO uses several of these tools and is also planning to deploy a comprehensive, globally usable signing solution via the Adobe Sign web and mobile application.
Among the established but only internally usable solutions is the DigiSign web application (more about it in the March 2020 issue of ŠKODA Mobil). For signing documents when communicating with other Group brands, the certificate issued by the VW Group can be used (i.e. signing by using an MFA card with a PKI certificate). Another solution is an electronic signature issued by the state-accredited First Certification Authority (I. CA), which is used for documents intended for communication with public authorities in the Czech Republic and the EU.
The FL – Legal department is currently preparing to deploy Adobe Sign and will launch its pilot run during the summer. This solution enables the signing of contract documents with business partners from all over the world. Signing is done in one environment – quickly, easily, transparently and from anywhere, even from a mobile phone. In addition, Adobe Sign provides a comprehensive document tracking solution. When it is signed, you get an automatic e-mail notification. Once the process is complete, analytics are available for each of the documents with a detailed history so you can see when it was sent, whether it was approved, and when and by whom it was signed.
Remember the Rules
When signing documents and contracts with external partners, ŠKODA AUTO has rules that you must always keep in mind. First and foremost, remember that any contractual documentation you sign must be in writing and may only be signed by an authorised person (i.e. someone with external executive authorisation).
The “four eyes” rule is key as well: The document must be signed by two authorised persons who are not in a supervisor–subordinate relationship. On the contrary, they should preferably be employees from different areas. One document also cannot be signed by a combination of manual and electronic signatures. ED
If you have any questions about signing documents, please contact the FL – Legal department. For more details, visit ŠKODA Space.

Dangerous phone calls
Phone calls can be used for a fraudulent technique called vishing. Do you know what to look out for?
ew people would say they do not know how to make a phone call. Yet a situation can arise that catches even the most experienced people by surprise. As technology advances, scammers are increasingly using a technique known as vishing. Attackers can quite easily spoof the phone number that appears on your screen when you receive an incoming call. In addition, social networking sites can be a source of additional information, such as names of colleagues, supervisors, children etc., which makes it easier for attackers to confuse you into taking actions that benefit them.
With a fraudulent call, the risk may not be immediately obvious. The problem comes when the caller asks you to click on a link or take some other action, for example.
Variable attack
While classic phishing usually just tries to get the user to click on a link and execute a file, vishing can be much more insidious. To achieve their goal, attackers often try to obtain seemingly trivial information, which is then used for the next attack. The main motive is to obtain sensitive information or to get you to, for example, click on a link with a virus, send money etc.
Decision making under pressure
Attackers like to use techniques that put you in a time crunch so that you do not have time to think through their requests. For example, they may pose as rushed IT support: “Once I solve your problem, I need to help your manager right away, and you certainly don’t want him to have to wait long. So, click on this file and install the update…“
How not to become a victim
Don’t act under stress; no one’s life is in danger. Think through every action, and don’t execute files or send money under pressure.
If you are unsure of the identity of the other party, hang up, verify the number, and call back if necessary.

Finance and IT to underpin the transformation
The new functional strategy of the F – Finance and IT area contributes to company-wide objectives such as pro-customer approach and value creation. It will also focus on increasing revenue profitability and ensuring close collaboration between IT and business
he F area brings together the finance, legal and IT disciplines inside the carmaker, which were previously driven by separate strategies. However, the new functional strategy leads to closer collaboration between them, and the implementation team has designed it to encompass and give them a common framework with its mission, vision and values.
The F area’s strategy has three parts: the financial strategy, the finance and legal transformation and the IT strategy Accelerate IT 2.0. It has planned a number of projects and initiatives in them until 2030. These are often interlinked and simultaneously support the company-wide NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030.
Financial strategy
It is based on the NEXT LEVEL Efficiency+ programme, which focuses on optimising pricing, costs and increasing efficiency. The specific objective is then to achieve, despite all the current challenges, a profitability of sales by 2025 at a similar level to that of the years before the COVID-19 pandemic and to maintain it in 2030. This is a realistic ambition in line with the automotive industry and comparable to the targets of direct competitors.
Comparing strategy to football, the F area’s effort is to come down from the stands where we only approve or reject investments and watch other areas play. We’ll support the ŠKODA team on the field.

Board Member for Finance and IT
Transformation of the finance and legal departments
This equally important part of the new F-strategy comprises 21 projects united by the basic principle of adding value to the work of finance and legal professionals for ŠKODA AUTO and, thus, for internal and external partners. They must increase their efficiency, (i.e. minimise the amount of mechanical work in the form of data processing) and, instead, place maximum emphasis on using and working with expert know-how. Simply put, to “understand the numbers” as well as possible with the help of modern tools.
In this regard, the strategy follows the trend that the cost of running finance in an automotive company is constant, while the volume of work and added value is set to grow. Therefore, this transformation focuses primarily on digitising and automating finance functions, developing employee competencies or consolidating data models and resources.
In developing the strategy, the implementation team took account of what the financial and legal landscape might look like in 2030 and defined five overarching themes. The first sees the finance and legal department as a guarantor of value creation for the company, for example, by setting a future-proof finance steering model or leading the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) agenda.
The second is to ensure that other departments and external partners have quick and transparent access to important financial and legal information. This requires sound internal and external communication, among others.
Third, the F area needs to have people with completely new competencies, such as data engineers or consultants focused on creating value for the company. To this end, we will develop clearer career journeys and plan to improve working with talents and experts.
The fourth theme is to build smart and efficient operations that include assuring simple access to data and the use of cutting-edge automation solutions. One of the initiatives is to create an external team to deliver rapid IT solutions.
Finally, the implementation team also expects a changes in organisational governance. One of key focus areas is to professionalise data management and lead ŠKODA AUTO in this field by example.
IT transformation
The IT area has already advanced in its transformation thanks to the Accelerate IT strategy introduced in 2019. This covered internal reorganisation, the establishment of the Green:Code development company and the 42 Prague training institute, to name a few examples. It is now being followed by Accelerate IT 2.0, which emphasises professional cooperation between ŠKODA IT and business and has a number of other objectives that correspond to the pillars of NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030. Being a strategic Business Partner
Key projects of one of the nine initiatives of the NEXT LEVEL ŠKODA PEOPLE STRATEGY 2030
complete transformation of the People & Culture area is currently underway. One of the initiatives under the EXPAND pillar is the Being a strategic Business Partner. As part of this initiative, HR is focusing on its role as a partner for employees in the ŠKODA AUTO transformation process, supporting and developing them. The primary activities of this initiative include the transformation of operational HR, strategic personnel planning and ŠKODA regionalisation. Let’s take a closer look at them.
Transformation of operational HR
The aim of the project is to further improve the quality of operational HR services. The means should be, among other things, the use of appropriate available IT tools. One of the newly used IT technologies will be signpads, which will enable our employees to sign several dozen documents linked to the KOMPAS HR system, all in an electronic format. This system will enable their automatic storage in ŠKODA AUTO’s information system, their archiving and the possibility to view them at any time and in a few seconds. The main benefits include the possibility of drawing data from the HR system, quicker preparation of documents, filling in the necessary data automatically by the system and lower paper consumption.
Another innovation will be the Data Management System (DMS), i.e. keeping the employee’s personal file and managing personnel data in an electronic format. Together with electronic signing, it moves HR closer to digitisation. This tool provides a comprehensive solution for storing all the relevant personnel documents. However, operational HR also intends to make use of our current tools. The ŠKODA Space portal, which is accessible to everyone, will continue to be a key signpost for our employees. What will change in this case is the structure of the entire system, which will focus significantly on the needs of the employee as a customer of the services being offered.
Strategic personnel planning
This project differs from traditional personnel planning as it takes into account not only the quantitative aspect of the plan but adds a qualitative aspect as well. This modified process then allows the different areas to identify challenges not only based on overhang, shortage of staff but also to specify which professions will be affected. The process starts by establishing a staffing plan outlook that considers, among other factors, turnover and retirements. After a discussion with the professional areas, the staffing needs are defined, which are compared with the outlook, and any overhangs or staff shortages are identified. The qualitative dimension is complemented by job clusters, where individual professions are grouped together and the process of comparing outlook and need is applied. ŠKODA AUTO is part of the first wave of the VW Group’s project in which approximately 210,000 employees were assessed through strategic workforce planning.
ŠKODA regionalisation
This is an important part of ŠKODA’s brand development. The People & Culture area organises workshops together with our subsidiaries to unify and simplify our processes and to support the implementation of strategy and diversity in the individual regions. In the process of transformation, it is important to exchange experiences and understand and accept different perspectives that are influenced by the different cultures and histories of every region. One project, for example, is the recruitment of talent in India to work in the Czech Republic, specifically in Technical Development. In fact, up to 40% of women study at technical schools in India, which is very different from the situation at Czech universities. In the future, ŠKODA AUTO will focus on recruiting five Indian female graduates with a technical background. ED

Do You Drive Safely with Children?
The Diversity and Inclusion team, in cooperation with Transportation Safety Research, has prepared a Safe Mobility workshop for parents
o you know how to properly buckle up yourself and your children in the car? Which seat is best for your child, and what are the most common causes of avoidable accidents? The guests of the Safe Mobility for Parents workshop, which took place on 21 June at the ŠKODA Museum, answered these and other questions. Mums and dads attended the event, some with their children playing in the children’s area. Members of the EKS/2 – Traffic Safety Research team accepted the invitation. In the opening session, Child in the Car, Robert Šťastný focused on what parents should not underestimate when travelling with their children. He focused on choosing the right child safety seats and restraints (see the Safe Driving Tips). He used short crash test videos to illustrate what happens to a child if they are not properly restrained. His colleague, Veronika Hradcová, followed up with the Parents in the Car block and demonstrated how to properly buckle up adults, especially expectant mothers. She noted that it is also important for the safety of passengers that the load is properly distributed in the car so that heavy objects and suitcases do not lie loose or on top. At the end, Karel Mulač introduced the topic of traffic accidents and how to prevent them. He mentioned the most common reason for accidents with children in the car and introduced parents to assistance systems that help prevent accidents. He presented their functions and explained how to use them correctly. ED
You can watch the recording of the workshop here.
Safe driving tips
Proper restraint
Always restrain yourself and passengers, even for short distances. Even a speed of 50 km/h can be fatal. The safest car is one driven by an attentive driver, so don’t allow yourself to be distracted by the phone or children.
Always wear the seatbelt over the hard parts of the body, that is, over the bones – never over soft tissue, such as the abdomen and neck. Expectant mothers should put the belt under their tummy – for example, with a pregnancy belt holder.
Seat adjustment
The backrest must be upright so that the belt rests on your collarbone; otherwise, you could slip under it.
Adjust the position of the seat so that it is neither too far nor too close and so that your legs are always slightly bent.
Seatbelt must always be
As close to the body as possible and not slack
Tightened
Untwisted
No sharp objects or hands underneath
Transport of children
Always buckle children up, even if you’re only driving a short distance.
Carry them for as long as possible in a rear-facing seat and also in a seat with its own restraint system.
A booster seat offers no protection in a side impact, so use safety seats as long as possible.
If the seat belt cuts into the child’s neck, place the child and the seat in the front seat where you can adjust the belt more easily.
Before you buy a child safety seat
Investigate how it performed during testing.
Try out how it fits in the car.
Also, test how the child fits into it.

How to balance fatherhood and career
Diversity Meet Up with David Škrobánek, founder of the organisation Dobrý táta, took place on 10 June
he online meeting where Natálie Hudecová, Diversity Specialist from the SX – Transformation department interviewed D. Škrobánek could be watched by everyone who wanted to learn how to combine career and hobbies with childcare. D. Škrobánek of the organisation Dobrý táta (good dad) presented his story and the circumstances that led him to speak publicly about the importance of a father’s role. He mentioned the prejudices that people have about fatherhood, especially if they see fathers in a role that is usually taken by women; for example, taking parental leave. “Diversity and inclusion are all about inclusion of views. Why should I judge a dad looking after a child? It’s his business. As a dad, I don’t want to find out that my kids are 15 years old and I can’t turn back the clock,” D. Škrobánek pointed out. He advises every father to ask his children how they perceive him in his role and whether the time he devotes to them is sufficient. “You don’t have to leave the corporate world to be a good dad. The most important thing is the quality of time spent with the kids, so when I come home from work, I’m not going to be making work phone calls or answering e-mails. What do the kids need? Just to be there for them,” said D. Škrobánek.
A recording of the discussion can be found in the Media Room on ŠKODA Space. ED

Big Premiere at the Bohemia Rally
The new FABIA RS Rally2 special unofficially took to the race track around Mladá Boleslav as well
ndreas Mikkelsen, the reigning WRC2 World Rally Champion, was behind the wheel. The ŠKODA Motorsport team introduced the new car in June (more in the July 2022 issue of ŠKODA Mobil), and it completed the entire track of July's Bohemia Rally Mladá Boleslav without any issues. The FABIA RS Rally2 completed all the X-marked stages four minutes ahead of the other crews. A. Mikkelsen, however, did not spare the competition special, and the spectators along the route could see it going fast for the first time. The motorsport fans were also able to see a mock-up of the FABIA RS Rally2 on display at the ŠKODA Rally Park at the Hoškovice Airport near Mnichovo Hradiště, as well as a show car in the ŠKODA Motorsport workshop. Also on display was the latest AFRIQ student car, a special desert rally car based on the urban KAMIQ SUV.

Races of the five races of the Czech Championship were won by Jan Kopecký. He leads the continuous ranking with an extra 87 points.
Jan Kopecký’s victory
Even the predecessor of the new competition model was not far behind in the race. Behind the wheel of the FABIA Rally2 evo, the crew of Jan Kopecký and Jan Hloušek of the Agrotec ŠKODA Rally Team claimed victory and increased their lead in the SONAX Czech Rally Championship standings. J. Kopecký scored his 10th victory in “Bohemka” despite almost paying for a bad choice of tyres at the start of the second stage. His team expected rain, but there was none, and the crew had to survive on a dry track with soft tyres. As a result, Filip Mareš of the Laureta Auto ŠKODA Team got to the front of the race, but he was eventually knocked out by a gearbox failure, just about a kilometre before the finish.
The junior drivers of the ŠKODA dealer teams have shown themselves in a good light, with Dominik Stříteský of ACA ŠKODA Vančík Motorsport standing out recently. This time, despite a flat tyre in the second stage, he managed to work his way up to third place and also scored a victory in Friday’s circuit test at the Sosnová Autodrom.
The participants of the Czech championship will enjoy their summer break, which will finish with the Barum Czech Rally Zlín at the end of August. ED
Polish victory in Kenya
The World Rally Championship headed to Africa at the end of June for the traditional Safari Rally Kenya. In the WRC2 category, the Polish crew of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak in their FABIA Rally2 evo finished first. The Championship then returned to Europe with Rally Estonia. There, defending champion Andreas Mikkelsen (pictured) of the Toksport WRT team, which is supported by ŠKODA Motorsport, was successful again. With his co-driver, Torstein Eriksen, he won his third WRC2 event of the year and returned to the top of the World Championship ranking. His next event will be Rally Finland in early August, followed by Ypres Rally Belgium two weeks later. The Baltic states also hosted a European Championship event in July, namely the Latvian Rally Leipāja. ŠKODA cars took the first three places in the event with the home team of Mārtiņš Sesks and Renars Francis and their FABIA Rally2 evo securing a win. The European Championship continues from 22–24 July with the Rally di Roma Capitale. ED

5. Výhra v Soutěži
Výhrou je následující cena:
1x Kniha ŠKODA – automobily na plakátech a v prospektech, 1945–2022.
6. Kontaktování Výherce a podmínky čerpání výhry
7. Pravidla ochrany osobních údajů (v souladu s GDPR 2016/679)
Vyplněním kvízu a zasláním odpovědí na výše uvedenou e-mailovou adresu Soutěžící vědomě a dobrovolně souhlasí s Pravidly soutěže (viz tento dokument), což znamená:
– zařazení do soutěže a příslušné evidence Soutěžících;
– zasílání informačních e-mailů týkajících se této Soutěže;
Požádá-li Soutěžící o informaci o zpracování svých osobních údajů, je mu správce a případně i zpracovatel povinen tuto informaci bez zbytečného odkladu předat.

Pořadatel si vyhrazuje právo i bez uvedení důvodů Dobu soutěže zkrátit, Soutěž přerušit nebo zrušit či změnit její Pravidla, a to i bez udělení výhry a bez poskytnutí náhrad. Pořadatel si rovněž vyhrazuje právo nahradit ohlášenou výhru předmětem podobného typu a odpovídající hodnoty a upravit podmínky předání výhry v případě, že výhra nebude poskytnuta způsobem umožňujícím předání výhry vítězům v souladu s těmito Pravidly.

Success in times of challenges
In mid-November, around 300 managers gathered at the Škoda Museum for a two-day meeting with the top management of the MMK. The opening session was addressed by Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO, and Jaroslav Povšík, Chairman of the KOVO Trade Union. The theme of transformation guided the entire event, which included seminars, discussions and updates from various areas of the carmaker.
Compact but still spacious
The Kylaq, Škoda’s latest and smallest model, was unveiled in November. Measuring less than 4 metres in length, it targets the popular Indian market segment, with prices starting from CZK 220,000. The Kylaq introduces the new Modern Solid design language to India, along with the largest boot in its class and a wide range of equipment focused on safety, including six airbags.
IVET 2024 Innovation Fair
The 8th edition of IVET showcased 36 innovation themes, underscoring Škoda Auto’s commitment to practical advancements. New was a section dedicated to the Indian market and contributions from Group colleagues. The event also featured the presentation of the Elroq. From Simply Clever solutions to technical breakthroughs, the fair continued the tradition of innovations designed with customers in mind.
Chronicle of 2024
In 2024, Škoda Auto continued to launch new models while modernising its bestsellers. The carmaker also adopted a new design language, opened the Laurin & Klement Kampus, supported numerous charitable and sustainable projects, achieved many successes and celebrated several important anniversaries. Discover the highlights from the past year in this year’s Chronicle.
Kronika roku 2024
V roce 2024 Škoda Auto pokračovala v uvádění nových modelů a také v modernizaci bestsellerů. Automobilka navíc přešla na nový designový jazyk Modern Solid, otevřela Laurin & Klement Kampus, podpořila nespočet dobročinných i udržitelných projektů, dosáhla mnoha úspěchů a oslavila několik významných výročí. To nejdůležitější z právě končícího roku se dočtete v letošní kronice.
Launching a new era in India
Four metres is a critical threshold in the Indian automobile market and its segment with this maximum length accounts for nearly 30%. Škoda Auto is entering this segment with the new compact SUV, the Kylaq, which is developed and manufactured in India specifically to cater to the preferences of local customers. This launch follows the earlier introductions of the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan.
Conquering the French market
More than half a million visitors flocked to the Paris Motor Show in October, where global carmakers were in attendance. The Škoda Auto stand featured the new electric Elroq, which garnered much attention. Other cars from Škoda’s portfolio were also on display, including a specially modified fourth-generation Superb for the Tour de France race director and the Fabia RS Rally2 competition special.
Reducing software complexity
The second of the Brand Group Core’s six strategic packages is titled Reducing Complexity and focuses primarily on software. The increasing number of drives and assistance systems and the integration of other vehicle functions have led to a complex array of software variants. The aim of reducing the number of software variants is to decrease costs and enhance cybersecurity.
A look inside the battery
The new tomography centre in Hall M6 allows for non-destructive testing of the quality of MEB’s electric platform batteries. Škoda Auto inaugurated this state-of-the-art facility in June this year, and there may not be another facility like it in any other carmaker. Historically, the industry has employed computed tomography technology, or CT scanning, mainly for smaller parts.
Pohled do útrob baterie
