ŠKODA FABLAB OPTIMIZES
We are increasingly focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
In the ŠKODA FabLab, experts from the our Central Technical Service
department work in various clusters on developing and implementing
suitable innovative technologies. Image analysis technology
illustrates what possibilities lie ahead: currently, it helps to identify
and notify drivers of parking spaces that are available on the factory
premises; in the future it could also assist trucks when entering the
ŠKODA plants. We are also testing how image analysis can be used in
production for predictive maintenance of various systems.

In 1932, 88 years ago, the ŠKODA Type 932 was born. This compact car prototype with a rear-placed engine was designed by Karel Hrdlička, therefore, it was
nicknamed „The Kadlomobil“. Its development was led by Vsevolod Korolkow, an
immigrant from St. Petersburg, who was not even 30 at the time. The car’s appearance strongly resembled the later Volkswagen „Beetle“, Ferdinand Porsche.
The Type 932 did not reach series production in the end, because the rear-placed
engine car project went elsewhere in 1933. A year later, under the same name,
a larger car with an in-line liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine begun its development.
