Milan Dlabola recalls his work in gearbox production

1977 – 2019 He joined AZNP in 1977 as a worker in the paint shop, later became a foreman and in 1986 moved to gearbox production. After a seven-year break in the private sector, he returned to the carmaker, where he remained until his retirement in 2019.

Milan left Škoda Auto shortly before its merger with the VW Group. “After returning, I worked as a foreman in gearbox production in Hall M2. After a year, I was put in charge of machining parts in Hall M1, where production of the old gearbox was slowly coming to an end, and then I worked as a foreman in the hardening shop for about six months,” says Milan. During his career, he was part of the team that manufactured gearboxes for the Škoda 120, Favorit and Felicia cars. And how does he remember his return to the company in 1997? “I was astonished. It felt almost unreal! The orderliness in the workshops and around the halls took my breath away. I was also fascinated by the company’s efforts to continuously improve and train its staff. People didn’t even realise how much the company was investing in its employees to ensure it had high-quality workers, foremen and managers. The way work was organised also changed. There were so many changes,” recalls Milan. Between 2005 and 2009, he even launched the Protected / Profile Centre concept, which was later taken over by the S – People & Culture department. He finished his career at CostCentre Service, where he was responsible for operations from 2009 to 2019.
