Anniversary Season Kicks Off in Monte Carlo

Škoda Motorsport is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. It is marking this milestone with a special design for the Fabia RS Rally2 car and historical models.

The story of what is now Škoda Motorsport began in 1901 with its participation in a motorcycle race from Paris to Berlin. The legendary Rallye Monte-Carlo has also been the scene of numerous successes. It was there that the carmaker’s motorsport department kicked off its anniversary celebrations in January.

At the official opening round of the World Rally Championship season, Škoda Motorsport presented the special design of the Fabia RS Rally2 car. Former Škoda factory drivers Jan Kopecký and Andreas Mikkelsen, winners of the Rallye Monte-Carlo and the WRC2 championship, were also present in Monaco. Before Saturday’s super special stage, the Norwegian driver gave guests, including Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, a demonstration ride in the Fabia RS Rally2 around part of the Monaco Formula 1 circuit, and the Czech champion presented the Enyaq RS Race electric concept car.

Special edition equipment

The anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the year. “To commemorate this milestone, we’re offering our customers special equipment. It is also our way of expressing our appreciation for the dedication, loyalty and trust of all our customer teams around the world,” says Michal Hrabánek, Head of EM – Škoda Motorsport.

Fabia RS Rally2 cars delivered to customers since January are equipped with several additional features. These include a rear polycarbonate window, subframe covers for gravel and asphalt, six magnesium wheels finished in a special colour, an updated centre panel, a “125 Years” welcome display on the screen and more. The race car also received special design elements including “125 Years” stickers, a new Unique Dark Chrome logo on the bonnet and a plaque in the interior. The anniversary is also marked by a fabric cover for the car and a selection of Škoda Motorsport gift items.

Škoda Motorsport will celebrate its anniversary throughout the year by showcasing its heritage at various events and occasions. Among other things, it is planning an exhibition at the Škoda Museum.

Rallye Monte-Carlo 2026

Nine Škoda crews competed for points in the WRC2 category in the opening round of the World Rally Championship. Five of them finished in the Top 10 of the WRC2 category in extremely difficult conditions on stages covered with slush and ice. The standout performance came from Italians Roberto Daprà and Luca Guglielmetti, who finished second. They were helped by an excellent performance in the 12th special stage, which they completed with the fourth fastest time overall, beating several cars from higher categories. Frenchmen Eric Camilli and Thibault de la Haye also fought for victory but ultimately placed fourth. The championship continues in Sweden from February 12 to 15.
