NEW CENTRE FOR BUILDING TEST
VEHICLES AND PROTOTYPES
ŠKODA AUTO’s Technical Development department opened a new centre
for the manufacture of test vehicles and prototypes at its Mladá Boleslav
site. The new facility means that these special vehicles can now be built
completely under one roof. The carmaker uses state-of-the-art technologies,
such as robot stations and virtual reality solutions, through the entire
production process. Thanks to two robot stations, the automation in the
body shop has increased from 15 to 45 percent, doubling the production
capacity to ten car bodies per week – while requiring 20 percent less space.
ON THE IIHF
THE 2021 WC
The International Ice
Hockey Federation (IIHF)
confirmed on 18/01/2021
that the 2021 IIHF Ice
will not be hosted by
Belarus due to safety and
security issues that are
beyond the IIHF’s control.
Video from the new centre is available at https://vimeo.com/500478860
Due to the growing number
of electromobiles in the company car
fleet, we are asking all company
car drivers with internal
combustion engines (ICE) to
avoid blocking parking spots with
a designated charging station.
These spaces are reserved
for electric cars only. Blocking
parking spots for charging is similar
to parking electric cars next to a fuel
dispenser at a fuel station.
However, in the case of blocking
a charging spot, the driver of an ICE
car in addition actually commits
a traffic offense by using a reserved
spot with a vehicle, that was not
designated for this spot by law.
Therefore, we appeal to the decency,
consideration and collegiality of
company car drivers with ICEs in the
upcoming era of electromobility.
ŠKODA AUTO welcomes
IIHF's decision that the
2021 Ice Hockey World
Championship will not take
place in Minsk. The IIHF is
now discussing the
selection of alternate
locations. We are
expecting further steps in
deciding the new location.
We hope that a good
solution is found.
Various doctors look after the
health of employees, and expert
technicians are responsible for
the smooth operation of our
machinery. The technicians at
the Central Technical Service,
for example, focus on vibro
diagnostics. Find out what they
are responsible for in the
newest episode of the My
Machine series, produced by
You will hear it all from the
source itself – the people
working with these machines
on a daily basis.

Some of the sports leagues have acquired a government exception from the Czech Ministry of Health. This allows them
to continue organizing games, e.g. of the top Czech professional divisions in football or hockey. All matches will take place
without any spectators in the crowd. However, selected duels may still be watched on TV or through online streams.
