THE CZECH BRAND INTRODUCED NEW ELECTRIC
MODELS AND ITS VISION OF E-MOBILITY
E
nvironmentally friendly mobility played a big
role at this year’s IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt. ŠKODA AUTO was no exception: New models of the iV family and G-TEC variants on the fresh
SCALA and KAMIQ models dominated the car show.
E-mobility as a service
Compared with 2015, ŠKODA AUTO wants to reduce the CO2 emissions that its fleet produces by
30 percent by 2025. The brand’s electric and electrified cars will contribute significantly towards this
goal. Therefore, both laymen and experts in Frankfurt were presented with the pioneering models
in this area: the SUPERB iV and the CITIGOe iV.
“Electric cars will quickly become an important part
of our offer. Our plan is for them to make up around
25 percent of total brand sales by 2025,” says Bernhard Maier, Chairman of the Board at ŠKODA
AUTO. Maier further explains that the iV designation reveals an entire ecosystem of eMobility products and services that will provide customers with
the simplest and most enjoyable and comfortable experience during their travels. Together with

the VW Group, the carmaker has developed home
chargers (wallboxes) and will be offering the installation and maintenance to its clients. The ŠKODA
Connect app will then help its customers find
the closest free charging point, and the ŠKODA
e-Charge card can be used for quick and comfortable payments at public stations across Europe.
More news
The emphasis on e-mobility does not mean that
the brand is giving up on other propulsion types.
Two other innovations presented at the world premiere in Frankfurt are proof of this: the CNG-powered SCALA G-TEC and KAMIQ G-TEC. Both models use identical technology with three CNG steel
tanks and a small 9-litre fuel tank. Running on the
eco-friendly fuel is the priority, while the petrol
helps to start the engine (read more in the Green Future section). The SCALA MONTE CARLO and the
KAMIQ MONTE CARLO are intended for more conventionally minded motorists. The traditional equipment level gives the models a more distinctive and
sporty look, both inside and out. LUDĚK VOKÁČ
