ŠKODA WEEKLY 42/2020
Simply Clever solutions are not exclusive for the cars
themselves – they are also used in their production. New
technologies referred to as Industry 4.0 is the latest trend.
This term is linked to large-scale automation and robotization
of production, that make production simpler, faster and more
efficient. Besides modern robots, it encompasses lots of less
obvious solutions, whose adoption was only made possible
by the latest digital technologies and the growth of artificial
intelligence (AI). These include the sound analysis technology,
virtual simulation (digital twin) in Vrchlabí or automatic
robotic vehicles for delivering materials to the production line.
We delivered 721,900 vehicles to customers
worldwide (-21.0%) in the first nine months
of 2020. Following the broad reopening
of sales channels in the third quarter, our
worldwide deliveries in September were
again up on the previous year’s level. By
the end of September, the ŠKODA AUTO
Group* had generated a positive operating
profit of 469 million euros. The other key
financial figures also reflect the general
stabilisation; however, they continue to
be strongly influenced by the coronavirus
pandemic. Our revenue in the first threequarters of 2020 amounts to over 12 billion
euros, and the return on sales is 3.9%.
