Energy for Life

Spend a few days with the owner of an ENYAQ iV and his family

Get acquainted

▶ ČBen, a 40-year-old marketing consultant, lives with his wife, Clara, and son, Olivier, in a modern family house in the suburbs of Amsterdam.

▶ In his free time, he travels, plays sports and is a fan of indie rock.

▶ As a proper gadgeteer, he will always try out any new technologies.

▶ He strives for a sustainable approach to life.

▶ He represents the typical future owner of the ENYAQ iV.

Monday

07:30 a.m.

In 15 minutes, Ben will take his son, Olivier, to school as usual. He checks the current temperature on his mobile phone. It’s got unusually cold overnight. “Ollie, take a sweater”, he urges his son and switches on the air conditioning, setting it at a pleasant 21°C via the ŠKODA Connect app.

06:55 p.m.

The doorbell rings, finally. Grandma has arrived to watch Ollie later than usual. Clara gives important instructions and rushes to the car. The Foo Fighters concert in Amsterdam starts in an hour.

07:25 p.m.

No, not this! There’s been a road accident near the concert arena. The online navigation finds a detour and shows the directions in Ben’s field of vision in front of the car.

07:50 p.m.

The parking spaces in the underground garage are hopelessly full. Wait, there’s a free one by the pillar! They both get out, and Ben uses his mobile phone to direct the parking assistant to reverse into the small space. These gadgets are exactly the reason why he loves the ENYAQ iV so much!

11:18 p.m.

The happy couple parks their car in the garage at home. The concert was a great success, and in the end, they didn’t miss a minute. They connect their electric car to the ŠKODA iV Charger on the wall and talk about the events of the day for a while before going to sleep.

▶ The ŠKODA Connect app provides its customers with unique user comfort.

A look into the future

Sustainability above all

Sustainability has recently become a societal norm, and many customers follow this trend in their purchasing decision making. Having already started buying organic food from local farmers, they are now moving to the segment of fashion. A number of mobile apps today help customers evaluate whether a product has been made in accordance with ethical and sustainability principles. Many consumers look at consumer electronics from a similar perspective, and the same evaluation is beginning to play a role in selecting a car.

Tuesday

09:23 a.m.

Ben has just used his tablet to plan the route of his two-day business trip in the Netherlands and Germany and saved it in the car’s navigation settings.

11:45 a.m.

He arrives as planned at an office building in Groningen, 220 km away. He parks at a free charging station and heads for a meeting.

05.45 p.m.

The ENYAQ iV is pushing its way through the traffic jam of late afternoon into the centre of Hamburg. Ben is listening to an expert’s podcast on packaging technology.

▶ Customers paying with their MyŠKODA Powerpass card receive a monthly bill according to their actual consumption.

Wednesday

09:55 a.m.

Ben finishes his chat with Clara. His lecture at a conference on the future of retail trade starts in five minutes. He believes he will capture the participants’ attention.

12:48 p.m.

By simply moving his hand, he launches Spotify on a 13-inch display and compiles today’s driving playlist. He starts the car and heads home. Percussive music is rolling out of the hi-fi system’s 12 speakers.

03:12 p.m.

The ENYAQ iV makes a turn according to plan in the navigation system for a filling station with super-powerful IONITY chargers. The battery shows its capacity is at 20 percent; the car has been driving economically to complete the route with only a single break. Ben puts his MyŠKODA Powerpass card on the sensor.

03:54 p.m.

Ben finishes his coffee and checks the charge status on his mobile phone: 85 percent capacity is more than enough.

▶ The IONITY super-fast charging network is a joint project by the world’s leading carmakers.

Thursday

03:45 p.m.

Clara has brought Olivier to football training and parks near a market offering local produce; she prefers having a sustainable approach to life.

04:34 p.m.

Clara has her hands full with paper bags crammed with fresh fruits and vegetables. The ENYAQ iV unlocks itself when she gets close to the car. Clara opens the boot with the virtual pedal under the bumper.

06:15 p.m.

Mother and son are returning from training. The peaceful drive through the streets of the little town is disrupted by a cyclist who suddenly decides to turn left. Clara avoids the collision at the last moment with the help of the collision avoidance assistant system. She sighs with relief. The safety of her family and other road users is her top priority.

▶ The ENYAQ iV comes with a completely redesigned structure of its offering. Customers will no longer have to choose between the usual Active and Ambition equipment levels. All functions and items of the equipment will now be available immediately in the model versions. For the very first time, there will also be 10 thematic packages to choose from.

Friday

08:50 a.m.

Ben arrives at the marketing agency building where he works. A series of internal meetings awaits him, which he prepared for yesterday at home. He connects his electric car to the company’s charging station and heads for the first meeting.

11:50 a.m.

The ŠKODA Connect app on his smart watch reports that the car’s batteries have been charged. Ben clears the place at the station for his co-worker.

04:45 p.m.

Ben is stuck in an Amsterdam traffic jam. He is on his way to play football with his friends; they are fans of Ajax, just like him.

04:50 p.m.

A message from the repair shop beeps on the car’s display with the regular inspection date. With the help of Laura, the voice assistant, Ben confirms it and saves it in his mobile phone calendar.

A look into the future

Virtual reality has a future

The technology that complements the real picture of the world with computer-generated objects and is used by the modern head-up display of the ENYAQ iV model is widely used in various areas. At ŠKODA AUTO, it is used in in the form of video mapping in Production and Logistics, as well as in car development. It may help drivers in the future in case of an emergency (it can advise on how to replace defective fuses or a damaged tyre, etc.).

▶ Carmakers are experimenting with placing solar panels on car bodies.

Saturday

08:25 a.m.

Ben connects a trailer with a small sailboat to the towing device. Sailing is one of the family’s favourite pastimes. When he and Clara were thinking about buying a new car, they knew they wanted a safe, spacious, powerful and environmentally friendly SUV. The ENYAQ iV also caught their eye because of its elegant look.

09:25 a.m.

The EV is vigorously darting to the shore, despite the trailer and the boat weighing over a tonne. Ollie has connected to Wi-Fi via a tablet and is playing an online Scribble match with his classmates. Clara is driving, and Ben is watching the weather forecast on his mobile phone.

Sunday

10:25 a.m.

Ollie’s football team is playing a match. Ben is cheering in the stands. It’s raining, so he goes to hide in the car during the break. He plays Foo Fighters on Spotify and makes himself comfortable in the seat. It was an incredible ride this week, he thinks. But it was worth it.

▶ When we were creating the car’s product strategy, we set ourselves a few key targets: To provide our customers with a sufficient range, acceleration and emotional driving experience, great value at a reasonable price and an extremely attractive car. We’ve managed to achieve them, and the ENYAQ iV is a comparable, purely electric option of the KODIAQ model.
