First woman to lead the ŠAVŠ Board
In early January, the Board Member for People & Culture was elected the new Chairwoman of the ŠKODA AUTO University (ŠAVŠ) Board. Maren Gräf succeeded Bohdan Wojnar in this position, becoming the first woman in the ŠAVŠ’s history to join its highest supervisory body. “The election is a great honour for me. The functioning of the ŠAVŠ is the best example of a responsible business with a great contribution to the development of the region and education of the young generation,” said Gräf. Karsten Schnake, Board Member for Purchasing, and Christian Schenk, Board Member for Finance and IT, sit on the Board as well.
The First People & Culture Coffee Meeting
An informal meeting with our colleagues from ŠKODA AUTO and its subsidiaries took place online on 15 February on the initiative of Maren Gräf, Board Member for People & Culture. It was a frank discussion of the issues and obstacles that our employees encounter during their work activities and that, if resolved, could improve their working environment and relationships. The next meeting is planned for March and will be held in person, if circumstances permit.
For more information, please visit ŠKODA Space, where you can also find the date of our next meeting in advance.
Automatic transmission anniversary
At the beginning of February, the Vrchlabí plant produced its 4 millionth DQ200 direct-shift automatic transmission, which has been in production since October 2012. The component is used by ŠKODA AUTO and other VW Group brands in their models. Its production efficiency is enhanced by a number of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as advanced transport and handling robots. The Vrchlabí plant is also the first carmaker whose production has neutral CO2 emissions.
DQ200 gearboxes have already been produced by ŠKODA AUTO at its Vrchlabí plant.
Achievements and trophies
OCTAVIA dominates best cars for the 10th time
ŠKODA’s iconic car defended its title as the best imported car in the compact class in the 2022 readers’ poll of the German automotive magazine auto motor und sport. This is the 10th Best Cars win for the OCTAVIA, whose fourth generation won the same category last year. This time, together with another model from the VW Group family, the Cupra Born electric car, they received 12.2% of the votes from more than 100,000 voters, ahead of 26 other cars.
Absolute A for the students
For the 11th time, ŠKODA AUTO has won the TOP Employers study in the Automotive and Engineering category. The 2022 year result was decided by the votes of nearly 12,000 university students. Thus, the quality of employers is judged by candidates on the basis of a number of aspects. Regarding carmakers, they value modern working facilities and the wide range of job opportunities, as well as individually focused professional and personal development programmes. As part of the carmaker’s NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030 strategy, ŠKODA AUTO is placing even greater emphasis on the partnership relationship with its employees and focusing more on the topics of diversity and inclusion.
ENYAQ iV and FABIA also impress as fleet cars
ŠKODA’s new models dominated the traditional Fleet Derby – Fleet of the Year poll, voted for by fleet managers and readers of trade magazines. The FABIA, which became the absolute sales leader on the Czech market last year, dominated among service cars. The ENYAQ iV won both the eco-friendly car and separate Fleet Electric Car of the Year categories, whose ranking is determined exclusively by a jury of fleet managers.

HoppyGo has more than 150,000 users
ŠKODA AUTO’s carsharing platform DigiLab has had a successful year. It added new customers on the Czech market, as well as in Poland and Slovakia, where it started operating last year. The number of new registrations increased by 50% compared with the previous year. The number of rental days per user increased as well, as did the average rental duration, which is now 4.7 days. There was a particularly strong interest in renting the ENYAQ iV. The plan is to also rent out the ENYAQ COUPÉ iV through the HoppyGo platform.
The ENYAQ COUPÉ iV
is already in production
The serial production of ŠKODA’s new all-electric car began at its main production plant in Mladá Boleslav. Up to 120 coupés will be produced there daily on a joint line with the ENYAQ iV, OCTAVIA and OCTAVIA iV. The two electric SUV variants are the only models based on the VW Group’s Modular Electric Vehicle (MEB) platform to roll off the production line in Europe outside Germany. “Last year, we already produced 50,000 ŠKODA ENYAQ iVs. Now, we will increase our production even further with the new ŠKODA ENYAQ COUPÉ iV. I congratulate all of our employees on a successful preparation phase,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, Board Member for Production and Logistics.
The ŠKODA car fleet in the EU, Norway and Iceland achieved an average CO2 emission of 114.8 g/km last year. ŠKODA AUTO delivered 43,400 all-electric vehicles and 27,600 plug-in hybrids in these markets with a reserve of around 3 g/km.

On the Road to Transformation
Maren Gräf, Board Member for People & Culture, talks about changes in ŠKODA AUTO’s approach to employees
Dear colleagues
One year ago, I joined ŠKODA AUTO to become Board Member for People & Culture. Looking back, it is clear that, together, we form a strong team of Škodians and have already taken huge steps in our transformation towards electromobility and being a software-driven company. On this note, it was great to see how enthusiastic the media and the public were about the premiere of our ENYAQ COUPÉ iV! It was further proof that we are on the right track with our NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030 and the electrification of our products. In our People & Culture strategy, we define a clear roadmap for transforming our competencies and skills to meet the requirements of tomorrow. Its implementation is already in full swing (find out more here).
With all the strategic measures in place, we are constructing the basis for our success in the future while simultaneously handling personnel challenges related to the semiconductor shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic. We continuously evaluate the situation and, if necessary, adapt our measures. Protecting and supporting your health is our top priority – because you, our employees, are the most valuable asset we have. An often underestimated aspect of employee well-being is mental health; that is why we are paying special attention to it this year. Read more about the current COVID-19 measures and our support of mental health here.
Transformation is constant and hard work: Staying open-minded for re-and upskilling, welcoming new products and technologies or adapting new forms of work – this flexibility is demanding for everyone. Our role as People & Culture is to support you to successfully steer through the change process. Culture is an important lever to unleash further potential and sustain a healthy work and lifestyle. That is why we nurture a work culture in which everyone feels welcome, takes on responsibility, contributes their own ideas and actively engages in our transformation. Recent dialogue formats like my first People & Culture Coffee (find out more here), Fore(wo)men’s Sessions (find out more here) or the Screw-Up Talk have made me well aware of doubts and discussions about culture, diversity and the mindset change. Staying in close dialogue and putting “hot topics” on the table is our way forward!
We are clearly on the path to make ŠKODA AUTO future-proof in the midst of a rapidly changing industry. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Jaroslav Povšík and hist team from the KOVO Trade Union. None of our achievements would have been possible without him and his relentless efforts to find the best solution for our company and our employees – for you.
Stay healthy, and thank you for your engagement.

The monte carlo tradition continues
ŠKODA expands its fourth-generation FABIA with the MONTE CARLO variant
ince 2011, the FABIA’s great success has been enhanced by the MONTE CARLO sports variants, which have Ambition and Style trim levels and take inspiration from the numerous successes of the ŠKODA racing cars at the legendary Monte Carlo Rally. The FABIA MONTE CARLO is available with two three-cylinder 1.0-litre engines and one four-cylinder 1.5 TSI engine. Their power spectrum ranges from 70 kW (95 hp) to 110 kW (150 hp).
Black and red
The use of the VW Group’s MQB-A0 modular platform has given the fourth-generation FABIA more dynamic proportions and a more emotive look. This impression is further enhanced by the typical elements of the MONTE CARLO variant, such as the black radiator grille, distinctive front and rear bumpers, black rear bumper diffuser and black light alloy wheels with diameters ranging from 16” to 18”. The MONTE CARLO variant exclusively offers polished black 16” Proxima light alloy wheels and black 17” Procyon light alloy wheels.
The spacious interior of the current generation, which is dominated by black, offers standard sports seats with integrated head restraints and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The dashboard trim, parts of the centre console and door handles feature their red metallic decorative finish. The armrests in the front doors and the lower part of the dashboard feature a carbon look. The FABIA MONTE CARLO offers all the assistance systems, comfort features and infotainment systems of the FABIA model range. Its virtual cockpit, which is available as an option, offers a specific sportier design of display modes.
Shine and glory at the rally
The FABIA started on the road to racing success in 2003. Six years later, it was followed by the FABIA S2000, whose crews have won more than 50 national and international titles. Its successor, the third-generation FABIA Rally2, has become the most successful racing car in the world with more than 1,250 victories and numerous titles on several continents. In 2021, the upgraded FABIA Rally2 evo achieved ŠKODA’s 15th overall victory in the WRC2 category. A new sports special car based on the fourth generation of the FABIA model is currently being fine-tuned (see Motorsport section on page 17). ED

Postponed start-up
KODA AUTO has started producing its sports variant of the FABIA MONTE CARLO, which was developed in parallel with the fourth-generation FABIA. The start-up team played an important role in preparing the production of this model. The individual pre-production cars had to be carefully planned so that their recipients had enough time to test them – there were homologation tests and actual driving tests to verify the functionality and, above all, car safety. All of this had to be done in line with the activities of the PPS-2 – Management of Project MB II, platform MQB2x, PF2-M – Assembly Shop MB II and PAP – Central Pilot Hall. The cars were tested by the Technical Development, Quality and Marketing staff. At the same time, our employees were being trained to perform the individual production tasks. “Thanks to the broad cooperation between all the departments, we were ready for the MONTE CARLO’s launch in August 2021. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic, chip supply shortages and frequent production stoppages forced us to postpone the start of production of this version until this year,” says Jiří Závorka, Head of the PAS – Launch Management Project SMALL. Because of this, the start-up team had to schedule additional pre-series cars. This was done so that our assembly colleagues would not forget the tasks they had mastered in preparation for the original deadline. “I’m proud of the entire team behind the birth of this variant and wish to thank them for their excellent cooperation. Thanks to all of you, we are handing over to our customers a car that will win many hearts,” says Petr Kuba, Head of the PA – Launch Management department. ED
Forewomen’s and foremen’s sessions
Forewomen’s and foremen’s sessions
The key to transformation
Regular dialogue continues between ŠKODA AUTO’s management and the group of forewomen and foremen
t the end of January, this year’s meetings were held online again because of the circumstances surrounding the pandemic. The broadcasts were watched by over 800 employees. Two meetings were held on Thursday, 20 January, and one on Wednesday, 26 January, with Marek Jancák, Head of the PF – Car Production department, who moderated all three meetings. Thomas Schäfer, CEO, Michael Oeljeklaus, Board Member for Production and Logistics, and Maren Gräf, Board Member for People & Culture, represented the carmaker’s leadership team.
M. Jancák introduced every meeting and summarised the extent to which the carmaker had dedicated itself to its forewomen and foremen over the past year and outlined its plans for 2022. T. Schäfer took the floor to describe ŠKODA AUTO’s efforts during the challenging year that was 2021. M. Oeljeklaus added specific production figures and the outlook for this year, and M. Gräf expressed her thanks for the flexibility and perseverance during the time of the anti-COVID measures and the carmaker’s transition to a fully smoke-free company. She also highlighted the importance of the forewomen and foremen in communicating strategic issues within the company and emphasised their key role during the transformation period.
Our actions today will
influence ŠKODA AUTO’s
plans for the next five
years.
It resonated during the meetings
During the meetings, participants were able to submit questions via the Slido platform, which the Board of Management responded to at the end of the session. Answers to questions that were not answered can be found in the regular Newsletter for foremen. Among the questions, the topic of COVID-19 was dominant. All the Board Members appealed for a higher vaccination rate for the company, which currently stands at 67%. They see vaccinating against COVID-19 as a way out of the pandemic. “Please get vaccinated. Protect yourselves and others so that we can meet in person again as soon as possible,” said T. Schäfer in support of the appeal. M. Gräf stressed that the sooner the pandemic is defeated, the sooner everyone will return to work as normal. However, T. Schäfer also cautioned against too hasty a relaxation of the measures in place, as happened in Great Britain. “The coronavirus has not disappeared; it is still with us,” said T. Schäfer and appeal to common sense. The next-most frequent questions concerned the shortage of chips and potential further production shutdowns. “Every day, we’re preparing for what will happen, whom we will need, what we have to ensure, and the persistent reason is to avoid the accumulation of staff at the time clocks,” said M. Gräf, defending the current functioning of eAttendance. From a production perspective, M. Oeljeklaus described the situation as follows. “Regarding March and April, we’re working at the VW Group and at our company to maintain production as much as possible. But the future outlook remains unstable,” said M. Oeljeklaus.
Electromobility was also a big topic during the discussions. “You can’t talk about it; you have to experience it,” said M. Oeljeklaus. He responded to numerous questions about the possibility of trying out the first electric car of the ENYAQ iV brand. He instructed M. Jancák to arrange the possibility of lending this model to all the forewomen and foremen who express an interest. In addition, he stated that more electric models of the ŠKODA brand would be launched later this year. In this context, T. Schäfer added that the decision to produce electric cars in Mladá Boleslav is, among other things, a testament to ŠKODA AUTO’s strong position within the whole VW Group. He is transferring to the top management of the Volkswagen brand on 1 July and believes that this will further strengthen the Czech carmaker. “Thank you for your excellent work. I will remain fully committed to furthering ŠKODA’s success until I take over responsibility for the Volkswagen brand and pay particular attention to the future collaboration between the brands. I will always feel to be part of the ŠKODA family,” assured T. Schäfer the Škodians. ED

Responsible and efficient use of energy at ŠKODA AUTO
KODA AUTO’s plants are among the biggest energy consumers in the Czech Republic. That means significant costs and environmental impacts. For this reason, ŠKODA AUTO aims to maximise its effective use of resources through the Energy Saving Programme (Energieeinsparungsprogramm 2022) and to promote the principles of the circular economy when using materials, energy and water. The carmaker also invests significantly not only in the construction of new technologies and buildings but also in meeting its environmental objectives in its management systems per ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. Its investments in effective energy management have resulted in the annual reduction of consumption per unit of production.
You can contribute too
Each of us can help to save energy and funds by being responsible. Rising prices are affecting the carmaker as well. ŠKODA will pay 20% more for electricity this year than in 2021. Except for Mladá Boleslav and its surrounding area, the year-on-year increase in the price of thermal energy is also relatively high: 71% in Kvasiny 71% and 65% in Vrchlabí. The most significant price increase, compared with 2021, is for natural gas at 108%. The price of water has also increased a few percentage points year on year, and the price of compressed air for our production facilities has increased 13%. Therefore, please keep effective energy and water consumption management in mind. Even a sensible approach to small things, such as effective facility heating, lighting, air-conditioning handling and reasonable water consumption, helps to protect the environment and reduce our company’s expenses. What energy sources does ŠKODA AUTO use?
hen producing cars and components in our production halls, we use electricity, compressed air, heat and natural gas, which we buy from ŠKO-ENERGO in the Czech Republic (in addition to our own energy produced by solar modules). ŠKO-ENERGO produces these energies from a variety of fuel mixes or purchases them as renewable energies.
Electricity and heat
The ŠKO-ENERGO heating plant produces them for the Mladá Boleslav plant from brown coal combined with biomass in the form of pellets (approx. 30%). The heat in the form of hot water heats parts of Mladá Boleslav, as well as all the halls and buildings of the plant. During the paint shop production process, it is used to heat the technological tanks. The missing electricity purchased for all production plants comes exclusively from renewable sources and has been EECS-certified since 2020.
Compressed air
This is another medium that is mainly used for pneumatic tools used in assembly and for driving the robotic clamps in the welding plants. It is produced in all the plants by their electric compressor stations. They are currently undergoing modernisation to ensure the automatic regulation of their output according to the plants’ requirements.
Natural gas
ŠKODA AUTO uses natural gas both for its technological purposes in the paint shops (dryers) and metallurgical processes (furnaces) and for the heating and combined heat and power generation at the Vrchlabí and Kvasiny plants. ED

Transformation Buddy
S area – People & Culture responds to transformation in the car industry in its new functional strategy and turns its attention to the employees
Challenges created by the transformation
New skills
Robotisation and automation facilitate our work, but they require new skills.
Deficit of experts
Currently, there is a great need for experts in tech on the global job market. So we need to focus on our attractiveness as an employer.
New competitors
There are new companies on the market oriented around tech, IT and the automotive sector. Our competitors might change in a very short time.
Shift in the talent market
New trends, requests from employees and new challenges require flexibility and fast responses.
Digital generation
By 2030, one-third of our employees will be millennials.
he carmaker is one of the biggest employers in the Czech Republic. The success with which the car industry will overcome the current challenges depends on the employees and their skills. “To support the carmaker in achieving the objectives defined in its NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030, we need skilled professionals, diverse teams and open corporate culture. That was why we defined our functional People & Culture strategy for 2021. It responds to ŠKODA’s challenges, but above all, it focuses on the needs of our employees and responds to the current state of the labour market, which is undergoing a major transformation, especially in the area of science and technology,” says Štěpán Špringl, Head of the SX – Transformation department.

Strategic projects to help People & Culture area drive through the automotive and social tranformation with all changes and challenges.
Focus on the employee
One of the key items is the new position of the S area. Whereas in the past, it had a rather service-oriented role (processes and work organisation), it is now becoming an active participant in the company’s strategic decisions. The carmaker’s transformation places demands on our employees in the fields of skills management, change management and communication, and this change in approach for the coming period is also defined by the new vision of the S area. “Simply put, this means that we wish to deepen the knowledge of all the employees so that they can develop further. At the same time, we must attract experts and workers from the free labour market, where we expect a tough fight. After all, our competitors in recruitment are not only any other carmakers but also other technology, IT and manufacturing companies. And we have to ask ourselves, ‘Who will be our competitor in 10 years, when today it only takes a few years to become a global player?’” according to Tereza Šťastná from the same department. Therefore, the primary customer of the S area is the employee, and the relationship between them and the employer is a partnership. Attention is turned to our employees’ needs, so that the employer creates a safe, creative and friendly working environment for them.
Key initiatives
“In addition to our new vision and mission, we’ve also defined three thematic units – EXPAND, EXPLORE and ENGAGE – that correspond to our company-wide strategy. For each of these pillars, we elaborated on its significance in the area of employee care and, subsequently, included three of the nine strategic initiatives that we will implement as individual projects,” explains T. Šťastná. The newly created SX – Transformation department takes care of the portfolio of all the strategic projects. In addition to strategy, its main activities also include the topics of diversity and event management. The SX team also analyses and identifies new opportunities and challenges for the entire S area in close cooperation with Board Member Maren Gräf. ED

New learning portal
The digital learning ecosystem will offer an overview of all the learning programmes in one place
earning is an integral part of ŠKODA AUTO employees’ work. However, the ŠKODA Academy is currently planning a significant improvement in the form of its convenient, unified portal called the ŠKODA Digital Learning Ecosystem. It will support our employees’ interests and potential while educating them in areas that are important from the carmaker’s perspective. “In the new portal, our employees will find everything in one place, and it will be an environment they are familiar with from social media. We will also incorporate gaming elements into the learning,” says Vilém Nájemník, Project Coordinator of the SE – ŠKODA Academy department, who works on the new learning ecosystem. According to him, the new solution is based on the carmaker’s learning needs and demands it will have to meet in the future.
However, our new solution will work just like YouTube or Netflix and recommend content you might like.
“Numerous jobs that are common today will disappear in their current form in the coming years and decades, as they will gradually be replaced by software automation,” explains V. Nájemník. The digital learning ecosystem will, therefore, work with a range of inputs for every employee, which will then be used to offer them the corresponding learning opportunities. The portal will consider what the employee already knows, what areas they are interested in and enjoy, where they would like to move, as well as where the carmaker is heading, and what its current needs are. The combination of these inputs will then offer users a personalised form of learning opportunities through advanced data analysis.
“Today’s learning can be likened to watching a classic television broadcast. However, our new solution will work just like YouTube or Netflix and recommend content you might like,” V. Nájemník offers a comparison. The users, he says, will be able to choose the form in which they wish to learn. “In-person training, webinars or book self-study, for example, can all complement each other, and everyone can choose what suits them.” The entire learning ecosystem will then be directly connected to the new HR system. This should also facilitate the career progression of our employees: Data from the learning platform will be used to enable HR representatives to search for new positions directly at the carmaker. In addition, the portal will connect our employees with their colleagues who can personally help them to develop in their area of interest.
Its new features will include access via the Learning Experience Portal (educational software designed to create a more personalised learning experience and help users discover new learning opportunities) and a range of new educational courses with unlimited numbers of participants, accessed online and labelled Massive Open Online Course. The ecosystem will be launched in pilot mode later this year. You can already start using its planned components in the form of the MOOC platforms Masterplan and Pluralsight, which you can subscribe to in the catalogue of educational events in the MOOC platforms and courses section. Education instead of Cramming
The Secondary Vocational School of Engineering has launched its pilot programme for a new way of teaching three subjects
he students from the individual working groups present the views they agreed on. Their classmates give them feedback and then evaluate their mutual collaboration. To guide this active learning process, the teacher walks among the students and listens, rather than being an authority, and speaks no more than 30% of the class time. The rest of the time, the students talk, and everyone has a chance to speak. This is how the project-based teaching of computer science, Czech and history takes place at the Secondary Vocational School of Engineering (SOUs), which is part of the ŠKODA Academy. They are testing their pilot project of the new EWA (empowering, wholeness and agile) teaching method. “As part of our Vocational Education 2.0 strategy, one of the key points is the transition from frontal teaching to student-centred teaching, which is exactly what this didactic model fulfils,” said Martin Slabihoudek, Head of the SEB – Secondary Vocational School. The SOUs is a leader in vocational technical education in the country and places great emphasis on the most modern methods in education. That is why it decided to test the new method in practice and inspire other schools. The pilot project has been completed in the first and fourth grades in three subjects. Students learned from each other and viewed their subjects more comprehensively – for example, in their history lessons, they examined the past through the lens of the present. This part of the pilot programme ended in January with student presentations in history on conflict in the 20th century. This will be followed by workshops for teachers, and in the second semester, the method will be extended to other subjects as well.
The EWA method is an innovative didactic model based on cooperative learning. Project-based learning takes place mainly in teams and promotes the intrinsic motivation of our students. “It develops not only their knowledge but also their skills and competences while taking into account the challenges of the 21st century. Thanks to our individual approach, all the students desire to actively participate in the learning process,” say the authors of the method, Eva Švejdarová and David Holman from ŠKODA AUTO University. According to them, the big challenge for teachers is to prepare graduates for an environment that is constantly changing. The method helps to translate theory into practice and makes it easier for students to learn. “What I like most about the classes is that the emphasis is on understanding the issues, not on blindly memorising facts. In addition, we’re encouraged to look at things from various angles,” said Adéla Nešněrová from the Industrial Logistics field. ED

Easier to log into applications
As of the end of January, logging into our company applications by using a personal number is now fully operational
Logging in with your personal number is also the first step in accessing confidential data, such as your payroll or the KOMPAS HR system. However, they require two-factor authentication – for example, via an SMS code, which will arrive on your private phone (entered in the KOMPAS app).
he IT specialists have completed their work to improve the login method and make access to the company applications as convenient as possible, even for those employees who do not work on a company computer every day (e.g. our production workers). You no longer need to know your username (formerly DZC) to log into the company applications, including the ŠKODA Space employee portal; you only need your personal number, which you can also find on your MFA card. This makes it even easier for you to use the applications, which are constantly expanding. “Our employees usually do not remember their username because they hardly use it at all for logging in. However, one’s personal number will make it easier for everyone to log in,” says Petr Kratochvíl, IT Business Analyst at FIG/2 – IT Security Management, highlighting the biggest benefit of the newly offered login method.
However, logging in with one’s personal number is not the only new feature. Another feature facilitating access to the company applications is so-called assisted login. It is used once during mass events and greatly simplifies participation in activities that require authentication (for more, see the When Help Comes in Handy article). Access to the company applications, including ŠKODA Space, will also be simplified through newly introduced features. RED
How to log into ŠKODA Space
1
You can now also enter your personal number, which can be found on your MFA card, in the initial login field instead of the username (formerly DZC). You do not need to change any settings.
2
You enter your employee password (formerly LDAP) like before.
3
If you don’t know your password, you can reset it by clicking on the “Forgot password?” link. A link to reset your password will be sent to your contact e-mail. If you do not have it registered in KOMPAS, enter it with your supervisor or HR. If you only have a company e-mail (with the @skoda-auto.cz extension), you will receive the link there. If both addresses are registered, you can choose which link will come to you during the reset.
When help comes in handy
For mass events where a big number of employees need to log into the application or system, so-called assisted logging now also provides assistance. This has worked extremely well recently, for example, during the latest Stimmungsbarometer employee satisfaction survey. On these occasions, our employees are provided with trained assistants whom they can visit with their MFA card and the device they wish to use to log in. The assistant verifies the identity of the MFA cardholder on site and authorises their login. Therefore, the employee does not need to know their login name or password. The IT specialists intend to further develop the system, which has already proved its worth in practice. “We strive to make assisted login a company standard in cases when users forget their password and do not have the data to reset it in KOMPAS. The assisted login is an example of how the IT area actively designs, develops and offers systems and solutions to our partners from other areas of ŠKODA AUTO. We intend to further improve the login process and the things related to it,” says Monika Najmanová, IT Business Analyst from the FIP/4 IT Projects – HR Management, Procurement. The IT specialists from the FIM – Application Management, FIG – IT Governance, Security & Service Management and FIP – IT Process and System Integration departments were involved in the assisted login system. It was subsequently implemented with its users by the SB – Operative HR Care, Digitisation, HR 4.0 and ST – Global MGMT Care, Employer Branding departments. ED

A Unique Car Reborn
ŠKODA 1100 OHC Coupé racing special is restored thanks to the efforts of restorers and the use of modern technology from Česana
t the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, Mladá Boleslav designed the extremely elegant ŠKODA 1100 OHC Coupé racing special. Its uniqueness is underlined by the fact that it was built in just two pieces. The reconstruction of one of them has now been completed. The ŠKODA Museum’s collections will be complemented by a similarly unique open-top version of this car from 1957, whose restoration was completed several years ago and has since become an attraction at numerous historical rides.

1100 OHC Coupé cars were made by the carmaker in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
The precise reconstruction was carried out by professionals from the ŠKODA Museum’s restoration workshop in cooperation with experts from the EGV – Test Cars, Models and VR Techniques department, which builds prototypes. This was quite a challenge, as none of the original pieces had survived in whole. So they had to work with only parts of the original cars. The team of specialists had to cope with the renovation of the frame, chassis, aggregate and the subsequent construction of the body according to the original documentation. “Using the latest technology, we created a virtual car and then optimised the final appearance according to it. We supplemented the original, incomplete drawing documentation thanks to the memories of witnesses and preserved old photographs,” says Jaroslav Rys, coordinator of the EGV/4 – Construction Center, VR Prototype department

We digitised the historical drawings from the ŠKODA AUTO Archive and also used the available old photographic documentation. We then created a virtual model and produced several 3D models based on it.

Coordinator of the EGV/2 –Production Centre of Test Body
What did the body look like?
At the Prototype and Test Car Building Centre in Česana, they have continued the work of their predecessors, because it was here that the coupé was built more than 60 years ago. For example, the reconstruction of the aluminium body, which was designed by Jaroslav Kindl, a designer from Mladá Boleslav, at the end of the 1950s, gave them a hard time. “It is made as a shell on a load-bearing frame that survived from the original car. In contrast to the contemporary car bodies, where big panel parts are pressed from one piece, the design chosen was based on the original car, where the partial parts were pressed and welded together,” says J. Rys, adding that the ŠKODA workshops gained important know-how thanks to this project.
The visualisation of the iconic shape was very important for the final tuning of the aluminium body. In fact, in the 1950s, a wooden mock-up was first designed, and then a team of plumbers hand-hammered the aluminium panels onto it. Each of them followed their own feel, so that the left half of the body was shaped differently from the right one: for example, in the rounded edges of the fenders. The reconstruction process was based on 1:1 scans of 2D drawings to create a network of 3D curves covered with surfaces. The subsequent verification and correction of the shapes of the individual elements according to old photographs and drawings took dozens of hours. For the next round of shape verification, scale models were created, as well as 1:1 scale models of the front and rear corners of the bodywork. The parts, which were made from aluminium sheets that were 0.8 and 1.0 mm thick, were then joined by welding and riveting.
During the construction, 5,000 hand-made riveted joints were used to connect about 250 parts.

Coordinator of the EGV/4 – Construction Center, VR Prototype department
Scut work
To build a fully operational exhibit, a number of minor components had to be procured, which fortunately matched ŠKODA’s mass-produced cars of the time. For example, the outer door handles of the coupé match those of the ŠKODA 1200 Sedan, some of the switches and the switch box were used by the ŠKODA 440 Spartak and OCTAVIA, and the three-spoke steering wheel covered in black plastic refers to the bestselling pre-war POPULAR.
The ŠKODA AUTO Archive has also become an extremely important part of the project. This is where almost all of the original technical documentation has been preserved, including all the sections and drawings showing the construction of the individual groups. The know-how obtained during the restoration of the open-top version of the ŠKODA 1100 OHC came in handy as well. The experts from the ŠKODA Museum, for example, contributed a number of tips and comments by comparing the surviving photographs with the drawing documentation and a 3D model created using CAD (computer-aided design) technology. An experienced team of engineers then developed the designs into the individual functional units. An interesting feature is the removable roof design or the structural design of the seats. For example, the passenger seat is narrower than the driver’s. “Based on these documents, the tools and then the parts were manufactured. Again, this was a combination of the latest technology and handmade production corresponding to the 1950s,” says J. Rys, who reveals the background of the renovation.
Originally, there was no plan to completely restore the car. When the surviving parts of the car were gradually returned to ŠKODA AUTO, for example, through the collection of the National Technical Museum, the restorers completed the chassis with a newly manufactured radiator, tank and other elements at the end of 2015, and the engine and gearbox were thoroughly rebuilt as well. This torso was then to become an exhibit at the ŠKODA Museum. In the end, however, the desire to see the project through to the end – to a fully functional coupé – won out. ED

Unique Features, Short Career
The ŠKODA 1100 OHC COUPÉ offered numerous cutting-edge solutions but did not race for long
t was based on the open-top version of the 1100 OHC racing special and was built on a lightweight space frame made of thin-walled steel tubes. The front wheels were guided by a trapezoid of pairs of superimposed triangular arms, while an angular axle with trailing arms was employed at the rear. Instead of leaf spring bundles, more space-saving and lighter torsion bars were chosen. Thanks to the unique extension of the engine behind the front axle and the coupling of the five-speed gearbox into a single assembly with the rear axle transmission, the car featured almost ideal weight distribution and excellent handling. It was powered by a non-turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine with two camshafts in the cylinder head in an aluminium cylinder block. Thanks to its modifications, the power output reached an impressive 92 hp. Efficient and reliable stopping was ensured by double-circuit brakes, with rear-wheel drums on the transfer case to reduce non-sprung masses.
Thanks to its low basic weight, the car could reach a top speed of up to 200 km/h.
Early sell-off
The worsening political situation during the Cold War did not favour the car’s racing career, and the 1100 OHC Coupé eventually did not even leave the borders of what was then Czechoslovakia. However, even on its home tracks, the agile special did not make much of an appearance: In 1962, it fell victim to changes in technical regulations and the general decline of the below-1,100 cc racing category. In 1966, the then customary sell-off of race cars to private buyers followed – they were Hanuš Hrabánek, father of the current ŠKODA Motorsport team director, and Dušan Velebný (for an interview with his son Michal, see Childhood Flashbacks).
Both owners have modified their cars for regular traffic. From Hrabánek, the car went to another owner who crashed it into a pole in the motorway underpass near Mladá Boleslav. The wreck went up in flames, but the driver managed to get out. Nevertheless, it was the remains of this car that provided the basis for the reborn model. The second car also changed hands several times and crashed. Today, it is part of a private collection in its unoriginal and incomplete form. ED
Childhood Flashbacks
Michal Velebný, Coordinator of the GKM/3 – Restoration Workshop, has a personal relationship with the 1100 OHC Coupé
Do you recall when your father, Dušan Velebný, the later head of the company’s test shop, owned one of the two original coupés?
Sure, when I was between 2 and 4 years old, we used to drive it when I was seated on my mother’s lap. When the family grew and the oh-so-small car had to give way to the family car, I cried. I have a physical memory of the car as well. Its tailpipe ran through the sill, and it once burned my calf while I was getting out. You can still see the burn to this day.
What were your feelings when you saw the car in its full glory again?
I was rather looking forward to completing it one day, and it would growl, honk... But in the end, it was touching – I was sorry my dad didn’t live to see it. It would have been a big day for him.
Would you know how many hours the restoration took and how many people were involved?
It’s impossible to quantify the number of hours. Many people did it out of their sheer enthusiasm together with other projects. As far as the number of people is concerned, we estimate that there were over 30 ŠKODA workers, while others – such as upholsterers – contributed externally.
Aren’t you afraid of letting such unique objects out of the museum, for example, to classic car rallies?
We restore cars to preserve them for future generations and to document ŠKODA’s rich history. When we can show them in action somewhere, it’s all the more intense. However, we won’t let the 1100 OHC Coupé go to a rally-type event, simply because of its extremely delicate bodywork. It is made of thin aluminium sheet, and if a careless spectator were to lean a knee on it, the mark would be immediately visible. So the coupé is only going to be seen at most as part of some exhibition. ED

How not to drain your soul
ŠKODA AUTO will focus on the mental well-being of employees this year in addition to holistic health
hese extraordinary times place unexpected psychological demands on us. While we cannot change some aspects of our daily lives, we can improve the way we react to them and the impact they have on our psyche.
Most of us think of health in its physical and physical form. What we do not see at first glance – how we think, feel and act – is hidden within us and is part of our mental health. Its condition affects our stress management, our relationships with others and our decision making. Difficulties at work, at school, in a partnership or after the loss of a loved one can all disrupt mental health. The key to maintaining it is not to avoid stressful situations, problems or negative feelings but to be able to work with such situations and maintain your mental well-being.
There are many ways to take care of your mental health, but not everyone knows them. Moreover, without mental well-being, it is impossible to achieve overall health. These are the reasons why it is important to talk more about mental health and why ŠKODA AUTO, in cooperation with the KOVO trade union, has decided to focus intensively on this topic.
“Every month, we will introduce a new topic to our employees and at the same time offer them tips on how to successfully manage the daily demands on their mental health. In addition, we will prepare webinars and recordings in the Media Library and introduce them to experts they can contact,” says Eva Macková, coordinator of the SG/3 – Ergonomics and Work Physiology unit. New podcasts
This year’s highlight will be the How to Take Care of Your Mental Health podcast series, which you can find in the Media Library on ŠKODA Space under the Health link. The first episode, Burnout Syndrome, will explain what this phenomenon entails, how to recognise it early and offer practical tips. You can listen to the podcast here.
All information can be found on the It Depends on the Soul section of ŠKODA Space.
Optional self-testing
Anti-epidemic regulations in force since 21 February
Respiratory protection
At ŠKODA AUTO, it is still compulsory to wear respiratory protection in all indoor areas. An exception is only possible if the person is alone in a closed room or in workplaces with a heat load (Foundry, Forge), or when consuming food or drinks. On the premises of the ŠKODA Museum and the Ferdinand Porsche Birth House, the wearing of an FFP2 respirator is obligatory according to government regulations.
Testing at the workplace
Starting with the night shift on 20 February, ŠKODA AUTO has abandoned preventive testing in the workplace. From 21 February, it also made the testing point at Gate 3 in Mladá Boleslav open to the public during working hours. From the 10th calendar week, testing at the test points will be replaced by optional self-testing. Employees will receive a package containing five antigen tests. The recording of test results through the Electronic Attendance Sheet application ended on 18 February at 11:59 p.m..
Positive test
If you test positive, you have to isolate yourself from you colleagues. After entering the Positive Self–Test report in the COVID-19 @Smart App, you will wait for a text message and immediately report to the designated PCR testing location. If the test result is positive, you will remain in isolation (isolation lasts seven days; quarantine after contact with an infected person is no longer mandatory).
Infection-free
Starting with the night shift at 10 p.m. on 20 February, employees of external companies, integrated companies and visitors no longer have to show proof of infection-free status. The change applies to both long- and short-term entry into the ŠKODA AUTO areas.
Vaccination with a booster dose
You can still register for the state’s booster vaccination system through registrace.mzcr.cz. The incentive programme is also valid for the booster dose, with the option of crediting 2,000 points to the ŠKODA Benefits Cafeteria or taking an extra day off.
Meetings and trips abroad
As of 21 February, the limit on the number of people at a work meeting has been lifted. However, it is still necessary to observe the hygiene rules (face masks, keeping distance). Foreign business trips to India are also allowed (mandatory quarantine has been lifted), but only in Business Essential mode.
All the latest information can be found in the COVID-19 Structured Overview on ŠKODA Space.

How does ŠKODA AUTO ensure whistleblower protection when processing their complaints?
he VW Group created the first version of its process describing the Whistleblower System back in 2007. Ten years later, the system was renewed based on the requirements of an independent compliance monitor. The introduction of this version was part of a court settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice. In the following years, the system was further developed in the context of the requirements imposed on it by the current legislation and international standards. The concept of whistleblower protection has been firmly embedded in the system from the outset and is one of its key elements.
Maximum confidentiality is maintained throughout the entire complaint processing process (from its receipt to its investigation). The investigation process is fair, quick and discreet. If legally possible and if the whistleblower wishes so, their identity is not disclosed to any third parties, and their complaint remains anonymous. The complaint will be treated confidentially, and its content will not be disclosed to any persons not involved in the investigation or system administration. Any discrimination against whistleblowers themselves or any retaliation for having made a complaint constitutes a serious breach of the internal rules and will not be tolerated. Whistleblowers can always contact the VW Group’s Central Investigation Body, ombudsmen or the GO – Governance, Risk & Compliance department (see How to do it).
Rules at ŠKODA AUTO
One’s complaint must contain information regarding a deliberate or apparently negligent violation of the rules (e.g. laws, internal guidelines, Code of Conduct). If complaints are not sufficiently substantiated and, for objective reasons, no further information or evidence relevant to a possible investigation can be found, they are not dealt with further. Any employee who intentionally abuses the complaint processing system by knowingly providing false or erroneous information commits a serious violation of the internal regulations, which will be further addressed by the VW Group’s Central Investigation Body through its standard process.
You can use the complaint processing system to report a reasonable suspicion of any violation of applicable legal or internal regulations that may, among other things, adversely affect the reputation or financial interests of the VW Group or ŠKODA AUTO. However, this system does not solve any ordinary workplace disputes, personnel issues or work errors. You must raise these issues openly and address them directly with your supervisor or ask the relevant HR department for support. ED
Did you know that…
... Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of whistleblowers entered into force on 17 December 2021? The Czech Republic is expected to adopt local legislation on this issue. However, ŠKODA AUTO and the VW Group have long had their employee protection system in place.
How to do it
As a whistleblower, you can report a complaint through ŠKODA AUTO’s complaint processing system at any time and in any language in the following ways:
24-hour phone line
It is an international toll-free line +800 444 46300, available 24 hours a day, all week long. If your local telephone service provider does not support this line, you can use the paid line +49 5361 946300.
Online reporting channel
A confidential and technically secure web-based BKMS communication platform is also set up for contacting the investigating authority. It can be found here.
Ombudsmen
The VW Group has appointed external lawyers as ombudsmen. They provide advice within the framework of the complaint processing system and ensure that complaints are forwarded anonymously to the VW Group’s Central Investigation Body, if necessary. The ombudsmen’s contact details can be found at www.ombudsmen-of-volkswagen.com.
E-mail address
You can contact the VW Group’s Central Investigation Body by sending an e-mail to io@volkswagen.de.
VW Group’s Central Investigation Body
You can also mail your complaint to Central Investigation Office, Box 1717, 38436 Wolfsburg Germany. In addition, you can also visit the Central Investigation Body in person at the Central Investigation Office, Porschestraße 1, 38440 Wolfsburg (centre), Germany.
Consultations with your GO colleagues
General questions on compliance topics, such as the complaint processing system, can also be consulted with your colleagues from the GO – Governance, Risk & Compliance department, either in person or by sending an e-mail to compliance@skoda-auto.cz.
Safety

When cars think of pedestrians too
Dynamic tests completed at Aurel CZ laboratory in Chrastava verify the functionality of ŠKODA cars’ passive safety features
olice statistics for the Czech Republic indicate hundreds of collisions between cars and pedestrians every year. To ensure that cars are not a completely unequal opponent to the most vulnerable road users (i.e. not only pedestrians, but also cyclists and motorcyclists), ŠKODA AUTO thinks about them as well. Not only the silhouette of the front of the car is important but also what lies beneath. There must be sufficient space between components like the engine, bumper, hood hinge, hood lock and wipers to cushion any potential impact. The front edge of the bonnet is also shaped to meet the requirements for optimum safety, especially for particularly vulnerable parts of the body. “From the initial design to the start of serial production, we develop and verify the car’s functionality by using computer simulations and calculations. In the later project stages, when the first prototypes are available, we complete physical testing as well. The objective is to meet all the homologation requirements and the requirements of consumer organisations such as Euro NCAP,” explains Csaba Sirgely, Technical Coordinator of the EKS/1 – Front and Rear Crash, Pedestrian Protection department. ŠKODA AUTO has exclusively used the special pedestrian protection laboratory of Aurel CZ in Chrastava for its physical testing since 2011. Costing CZK 130 million to build, the facility is located only a 40-minute drive from the carmaker’s development centre and offers three fully equipped workstations on an area of 1,500 m2. During the development phase of a car model, over 200 tests are carried out in the facility, which is time-consuming and typically takes 20 to 24 weeks to complete.
Radek Urbiš
Head of EKS – Car Safety
The safety of pedestrians and drivers of single-track vehicles is always our special priority when we develop a new model. This starts with the vehicle design and includes comprehensive testing procedures at the Aurel CZ pedestrian protection laboratory, as well as advanced driver assistance systems to prevent accidents, if possible.
‘Leg’ with 18 sensors
To test passive pedestrian protection, mock-ups simulating various body parts are used instead of the well-known mannequins of conventional crash tests. These so-called impactors, equipped with a range of sensors, are thrown along a precisely defined curve against a given part of the car. “The most modern and most advanced is the leg impactor worth CZK 5 million, which is a sophisticated measuring device with 18 sensors, integrated AD converter (analogue to digital signal converter) and its own memory,” reveals Miroslav Pažout, a specialist at the Aurel CZ laboratory. This 25-kg dummy consists of a calf, knee and pelvis part. When it collides with a car, it behaves very similarly to a human leg. However, the strict test parameters also require precise throwing machines, which must be able to hit a pre-defined area of the car at the throwing speed of 40 km/h from a distance of 1 metre, with an accuracy of 10 millimetres. For even better analysis, a number of recording elements, including a high-speed camera, capture the entire collision. “Thanks to our state-of-the-art technology, we can analyse the behaviour of the front of cars in simulated collisions with the leg, thigh and head mock-ups much more realistically and in more detail than before,” says C. Sirgely.
Assistance systems also provide further protection for vulnerable road users – for example, the Front Assist with its predictive protection for pedestrians and cyclists or Anti-Collision Assist, which uses targeted steering interventions to help avoid road obstacles. The Warning function alerts the exiting driver when a car or cyclist is approaching from behind. ED
Diversity
Diversity
Adam and Eve at Work
The interactive workshop helped to understand more about the current developments at ŠKODA AUTO in the area of diversity and inclusion
ow can male and female principles complement each other at work, and how does one get more out of the interplay between their differences? Why are changes in our corporate culture necessary? How well do we navigate gender diversity? Do we know why the art of working with female and male principles is important for the success and viability of a company? These questions were answered in a workshop entitled The Female and Male Principle in Collaboration, prepared by the Diversity Team with ŠKODA Academy and led by Radka Maňáková. In her lectures, she encourages participants to communicate openly, especially about things they have not been able to say out loud and that block both their cooperation and personal relationships. “At the moment, my focus is on leadership and the power of the female and male principles. For me, consciously handling these inner qualities means being able to transcend my own limitations and create new possibilities that transcend the individual. I love going where ‘strength guides us’,” says R. Maňáková, describing her approach.
The workshop, which seeks a deeper understanding of men and women in the workplace, was held in the teams of the PF – Car Production, GKU – Corporate Communication and SX - Transformation departments. It was their employees who had the opportunity to participate in the course, where one of the outcomes was that the male and female components in each of us lead to a professional symbiosis that produces a functioning work team. The workshop also answered numerous questions that arise in the area of diversity at work.
The carmaker sees the topic of diversity as an opportunity to develop the potential of every employee, regardless of their individual differences. It considers equal opportunities and fair treatment as the cornerstones of a prejudice-free working environment. “We prefer working in the spirit of equal partnership, diversity and tolerance and creating an inclusive work environment. Every employee has the right to feel like themself in this environment, to be able to use their skills and be a full member of the team,” says Martina Zimmermann, Diversity Coordinator at the SX – Transformation department. Moreover, it is a proven fact that companies that openly embrace the diversity and inclusion topics are more profitable, more innovative and, thus, more competitive. ED
Would you like to participate in a similar workshop? The ŠKODA Academy and SX teams will prepare a 3.5-hour workshop that you can attend in person or online with your team. You can contact Barbora Austová or MARTINA.ZIMMERMANN.
Dominika Králová
Specialist of the GKU – Corporate Communications department
The motivation for initiating the workshop within our department was mainly that the topic of men and women working together is highly topical and, in our department, we need to know how to communicate it properly to other colleagues and journalists. The workshop gave us a new perspective on diversity issues related to this area and raised a number of questions and ideas that we will work on together with other colleagues.
Marek Jancák
Head of the PF – Car Production department
The topic is complex and provokes numerous negative reactions, but my colleagues went into it with an open mind and, given the final feedback, we’ve succeeded in our goal – to make employees try to think about the topic from a different point of view.
Štěpán Špringl
Head of the SX – Transformation department
I’d never thought about the whole issue in this way before. It was very interesting to find out how this topic is directly related to ŠKODA AUTO’s competitiveness in the future. I think what I appreciated most was how our team got involved in the discussion.
We Think Green
We Think Green
Do you know about Czechs’ eating habits concerning animal and crop production and why they have started talking about flexitarians? The SPP/4 Team, together with Aramark, looked into this issue because they know how the frequent inclusion of meat in the Czech diet affects the environment.
How Czechs Eat
Czechs regularly include meat and meat products in their diet. Some 25% of the population prefers a meat-limited diet, while 4% (mostly people under the age of 44) eat a completely meat-free diet. Vegan diets are most popular among those under 35.
Source: FMCG Gurus for the Czech Vegan Society
Meat Consumption is Deliberately Kept to a Minimum by
According to the FMCG Gurus study, up to 25% of the population in the Czech Republic consider themselves flexitarians. Flexitarians are concerned about the origin of their food and eat meat only from organic farms and not every day. Furthermore, they limit meat for health reasons (68%), environmental concerns (59%) and animal welfare concerns (42%).
Women vs. Men
The majority of the Czech population does not care whether they eat food of animal or plant origin. Men are more likely to eat meat and meat products, with 82% of them eating meat at least once a week. Among women, the figure is considerably lower.

Proven behind the Arctic Circle
The new-generation FABIA Rally2 has been tested on snow and ice in Finland
he factory team’s developers are hard at work on a new version of the racing special based on the fourth-generation FABIA. The camouflaged car is currently undergoing its testing phase and visited the edge of the Arctic Circle in Finland at the end of last year. Top pilots drove the car equipped with studded tyres on icy ground and in temperatures as low as –14 °C. Current WRC2 world champion Andreas Mikkelsen was joined by Finnish champion Emil Lindholm and experienced WRC Royal category driver Kris Meeke. “Already on the asphalt and gravel, I had a very good feeling about the car. Now, I can say the same about the snow. I feel very, very good in the car,” says Mikkelsen of his experience with the new car.
We’re slightly past the halfway mark of testing. We’re slowly moving into the phase when the technical specification is final, and we will start working on the car’s setup.
Jan Krasula
Project Manager of the development of the new-generation FABIA Rally2.
During the five-day test in Finland, the ŠKODA Motorsport team focused not only on the durability and performance of the car in extreme conditions. “We also had to make sure that the crew would be sufficiently comfortable inside the car, even when it was freezing outside. For example, the windscreen must not fog up, and the temperature inside the car cannot drop below a certain level,” explains Jan Krasula, Project Manager of the development of the new-generation FABIA Rally2.
VIDEO FROM TESTING IN FINLAND
The testing was very intensive, with 10 to 15 runs a day, including servicing the car in-between. After the last run, there was the evening service, which involved checking the car and rebuilding it for the next day. “Sometimes, our work went on well past midnight,” notes J. Krasula. With the customer teams racing the FABIA Rally2 evo in hot Africa, torrential rain in Asia and freezing temperatures in Scandinavia, and the possibilities for adapting the car are not unlimited, the car needs to be thoroughly checked. In addition to Finland, testing has already taken place in Spain, France, Germany and Corsica, for example. “To ensure that our customers aren’t surprised by anything in the races, we need to test the car in as many different conditions on as many different types of surfaces as possible,” concludes J. Krasula. ED

Pořadatel si vyhrazuje právo i bez uvedení důvodů Dobu soutěže zkrátit, Soutěž přerušit nebo zrušit či změnit její Pravidla, a to i bez udělení výhry a bez poskytnutí náhrad. Pořadatel si rovněž vyhrazuje právo nahradit ohlášenou výhru předmětem podobného typu a odpovídající hodnoty a upravit podmínky předání výhry v případě, že výhra nebude poskytnuta způsobem umožňujícím předání výhry vítězům v souladu s těmito Pravidly.

The 1100 OHC Coupé shares its aluminium block and crankcase with the ŠKODA 440 "Spartak". However, the two camshafts in the heads help to more than double the power output.
By placing the engine behind the front axle and the gearbox behind the rear axle, an almost ideal weight distribution was achieved.
Corrections to the shapes of elements according to surviving photographs and documentation, such as the rear lights, took dozens of hours.
The three-spoke steering wheel covered in black plastic is based on the pre-war POPULAR car.
The racing coupe is very compact and also agile.
However, it doesn't offer much space for the crew, and the passenger seat is even narrower than the driver's.
The coupe complements the open spider version in the ŠKODA Museum's collection, which was rebuilt several years ago.

I nová karosářská verze poskytuje velkorysý vnitřní prostor.
Ten ještě umocňuje panoramatická střecha.

Šimon Dědek se s origami seznámil ve svých osmi letech.
Nyní ho baví objevovat neustále nové způsoby skládání.
Šimon vždy nejraději skládal různá zvířata, především ryby a šelmy.

New SUV for India
Škoda Auto has revealed the name of the upcoming SUV specifically designed for the Indian market: the Kylaq. The name derives from the word for crystal in one of the oldest written languages, Sanskrit. The car's name emerged as the winner from a public contest that attracted over 24,000 entries. The condition was that it begin with the letter K and end with Q, in line with other Škoda SUV models.
The story of IT at Škoda Auto
Fifty-five years ago, Škoda Auto took its first step towards digitisation by installing the first IBM mainframe computer at its plant. Today, all systems – from employee e-mail communication to the complex calculations of the Technical Development department – are powered by servers and computers housed in two data centres, whose power and capacity are beyond comprehension for the average user.
Příběh IT ve Škoda Auto
Před 55 lety v automobilce zapojili první sálový počítač IBM. Šlo v podstatě o první krok k digitalizaci Škoda Auto. Dnes veškeré systémy v automobilce – od e-mailové komunikace zaměstnanců přes řízení výroby po složité výpočty pracovišť Technického vývoje – pohánějí servery a počítače dvou datových center, jejichž výkon i kapacity jsou pro běžného uživatele absolutně nepředstavitelné.
Conversions and changes in production
This year's collective holiday was especially important for the Production and Logistics sector as it saw a number of rebuilds and technology modifications. For example, summer activities in Mladá Boleslav focused on increasing the daily production capacity for MEB cars. Meanwhile, in Kvasiny, efforts involved integrating Octavia cars in liftback and estate body variants into the production line.
Přestavby a změny ve výrobě
Letošní hromadná dovolená měla pro oblast Výroby a logistiky zásadní význam, jelikož během ní došlo na řadu přestaveb, rekonstrukcí, úprav technologií a dalších stavebních aktivit. Například v Mladé Boleslavi v závodě MBI směřovaly letní aktivity ke zvýšení denních výrobních kapacit MEB vozů a v Kvasinách byly spojené s integrací vozů Octavia v karosářských variantách liftback a kombi do výroby.
Celebrating diversity
For the third year in a row, Škoda Auto has proudly partnered with the Prague Pride festival. This cooperation highlights the Czech carmaker’s commitment to respect, equality, diversity and mutual understanding. The carmaker's employees again participated in this year's activities, including the rainbow parade. Like the rest of the festival, it focused on the theme of family.
Oslava rozmanitosti

Riding with the Tour de France
For the 21st time, Škoda Auto has been the main partner of the world’s largest cycling race. This year, the cyclists were accompanied on the route by the red Enyaq director model, which alternated with the fourth-generation plug-in hybrid Superb Combi iV. In addition to providing the fleet of cars, Škoda Auto also supplied trophies for the winners and showcased the forthcoming Elroq model.

In June, Škoda Academy hosted the AI Open Day 2024 conference, which showed 320 Škoda Auto employees that artificial intelligence is no longer just a thing of the future but an integral part of life. This educational event introduced a new format that combined three forms of personal development and information exchange: lectures, workshops and a marketplace with real-life examples.
