N

he ŠKODA Ubytovny Booking (ŠKODA Dorm Booking) tool, which appeared in September, has significantly simplified the work for both employees and SPP/4 – Social Services workers. It is part of the Moje Aplikace (My Apps) section on ŠKODA Space. The e-booking method for accommodation is one of the SVP (ŠKODA Verbesserungsprozess) team projects that strive to reduce the administrative burden and eliminate unnecessary tasks across ŠKODA AUTO. The SPP/4 department is seeking to digitise its benefits in order to enhance the quality of services provided by offering a more user-friendly service and reducing administrative burdens and environmental impacts. Therefore, it used the already existing platforms and, in cooperation with the GGP – Process and Organisation Management, SVP and FIA – IT – Management and Support Processes departments, as well as the Technical University in Liberec, transformed this system into a user-friendly booking and accommodation management system for the areas around the Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny plants.

THANKS TO THE UNIFORM SYSTEM, ACCOMMODATION RESERVATIONS HAVE BEEN SIMPLIFIED; THEY ARE NOW FASTER AND MORE COMFORTABLE FOR EMPLOYEES.

Dále slouží k pravidelnému reportingu přednastavených dat formou analýz, reportů a grafů v BI nástrojích. Jednoduchý objednávací systém vznikl na principu klasických turistických aplikací. Uživatelé v pěti krocích vyplní žádost o rezervaci. Upozornění o jejím schválení obdrží formou SMS nebo e‑mailem. RED

ŠKODA AUTO platform use

The system on which ŠKODA Dorm Booking is built was used by the SVP team during the coronavirus pandemic to make reservations for our staff and has proved its worth. The MAL employee programme works on the same principle. “In the future, we intend to establish further offers for employees on this user-friendly platform”, says Petr Mach, SVP coordinator from GGP – Process and Organisation Management.

INVENTORY SPED UP BY ONE SHIFT

ALREADY AT THE END OF OCTOBER, THE NEW SYSTEM WILL BE USED TO TAKE INVENTORY AT ALL ŠKODA PLANTS

K

ast year, the annual inventory-taking at Kvasiny was reduced from three to two shifts. Production benefits from this saving, where it offers the opportunity to make about 800 more cars. “Every year, we are examining how the available technologies can help us in automating some manual inventory work”, says Radek Najman from FIB/5 – IT Production Preparation. IT ŠKODA is the driving force behind inventory digitisation and, together with the Production and Logistics and Controlling areas, has been working on this project since 2016, when the SCAN4INV central inventory application was created.

Did you know...

... that in the FELICIA days (i.e. the 1990s), the inventory encompassed about 5,000 parts or their sets and took six shifts? Today, it includes about 10 times more parts or sets but takes just two shifts to complete.

Inventory news

This year, the importance of cell phones will increase in the data collection process. “Compared with the previously used terminals, cell phones are cheaper and can be used for more apps. They are also connected to a central database, so we can virtually live-monitor the inventory process”, Najman explains the advantages.

One of the novelties will speed up the inventory-taking of pre-selected sequential parts by a few hours, where previously all information was on paper first before being entered into the system. After processing the data, the employees printed out the reports and only then started the acceptance. “Authorised workers will now use their phone to scan the last car in which a sequential part was mounted and then read the bar code of the last selected part on the trolley. The system immediately calculates which sequential parts have been taken and displays the information to be checked”, says Najman.

There has also been a change at the welding shops. There will no longer be paper inventory tickets for parts related to a specific car. Phones will merely record the vehicle codes, and the system will assign the proper parts to them. Line sections that are difficult to reach will be adapted as well. “Only the outermost cars will be recorded, and the system will identify which cars are between them”, explains Najman. Finally, automating the entire inventory process will also affect secondary lines. While the main line used to stop production half an hour earlier to allow the sets to be completed on the ancillary lines, the ancillary line will now be left in an unfinished state as well. Workers will add information to each set whose cycle it relates to and for which of the cars it is intended. Parts composition (e.g. unfinished doors or units) is automatically calculated according to the technological BOM. Luděk Vokáč

Work in progress and parts

This year, the inventory digitising process not only refers to finished cars but mostly affects the so-called unfinished production, that is, a period when work in the plants is stopped, the cars are in various processing stages, and the prepared parts are available in innumerable quantities.

The future of inventories

"This year’s improvement in inventory-taking will not be the last. Inventory automation and digitization is an example of an cross-functional project with high added value, which is why we want to continue optimizing processes next year. We are going to extend the innovation in the form of scanning car codes to paint shops, for example. Furthermore, we intend to use data from monitoring the cars’ movement on the lines so that, in some parts of the car factory, it won’t be necessary at all to monitor products”, Says Lenka France SVP, expert in area F.

Implementation team

Team of co-workers from departments PL – Brand Logistics, PF – Car Production, PK – Component Production, FCB – Controlling of Purchasing, Material Cost, Stock and FIB –System Integration Order MGMT, Production in cooperation with SVP annually examines how technological trends and solutions can be used in practice. And how to eliminate manual or unnecessarily time-consuming activity.
