OCTAVIA IV.

TAKES THE REINS

THE FOURTH GENERATION OF THE MOST POPULAR MODEL

BOASTS A LARGE NUMBER OF INNOVATIONS

T

he world premiere of the fourth-generation ŠKODA OCTAVIA took

place on 11 November 2019 on the

magnificent premises of the Trade Fair Palace (Veletržní palác), the seat of the National Gallery in Prague. Bernhard Maier,

Chairman of the Board of ŠKODA AUTO,

reminded us that the car’s name is derived

from the Latin word for the number eight,

which symbolises, among other things, rebirth and joy. For the company, the premiere marks a new beginning born out of a lot

of diligence, energy and joy.

The carmaker’s representatives introduced the world to both bodywork versions: the estate and the liftback. This happened for the first time in the model’s history,

and the reason is quite simple. The OCTAVIA is the carmaker’s most successful model, and the COMBI (estate) variant is the

best-selling car of its type in Europe.

The car impresses with its completely

redesigned interior. The ambient LED lighting in the front doors and the instrument

panel creates a pleasant atmosphere, and

the OCTAVIA is the first serially produced

car of the brand that has a dashboard divided into several horizontal levels. In addition, the new touch bar under the 10" infotainment system display, selected direct

selection buttons for important vehicle functions and the dual-spoke multifunction

steering wheel all improve ergonomics and

ease of use. The OCTAVIA boasts a range

of innovative features, including a virtual pedal, a configurable Virtual Cockpit and

full LED Matrix headlights. It has impressive aerodynamics, an even more spacious interior, a rich set of assistance systems and

a wide range of power units (powertrains),

including plug-in and mild-hybrid technology (OCTAVIA eTEC).
