Remote Meeting in Virtual Reality

Two ŠKODA AUTO Board Members tried out contactless communication inside a virtual car

P

irtual reality (VR) is increasingly being used at ŠKODA AUTO. It enables you to do many activities that you will find valuable – and not only when it is essential to curb personal contact. Using VR, Board Members Christian Strube (Technical Development) and Alain Favey (Sales and Marketing) had a business meeting that took place remotely: Strube connected from the Technical Development premises, where David Vaněk, Head of EGV – Prototype Build & Model Making, was also present. And Favey joined from the Service Training Centre in Kosmonosy, where Stanislav Pekař, Head of VA – After Sales, watched the whole process.

“In the past, we saw VRUT 2.0 as a tool for working solutions in the cars that were being developed. Now it turns out that it is also a functional platform, especially effective during the current government actions against COVID-19. So it is a tool that allows us to meet, discuss and communicate with our dealership network and other companies despite travel restrictions, not just in the EU but also across continents”, said Vaněk and Pekař, who, along with their teams, were responsible for preparing the Board Members’ joint meeting.  ED

Where VRUT 2.0 can be used

Remote training with a trainer on one end (e.g. in Mladá Boleslav) and a trainee on the other (e.g. in a service centre in Austria).

Remote discussion of team tasks if a personal meeting is not possible.

Cooperation on Group projects.
