Learning Organisation

This new form of corporate learning targets employees with a positive attitude to self-development and a willingness to learn anytime, anywhere

he Learning Organisation system is based on the new ŠKODA Academy strategy, which serves as a guide, partner and learning provider for employees. It comes in response to the transformation of ŠKODA as presented in the company-wide NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030 and the change in mindset flowing from this strategy. The principles of the Learning Organisation emphasise teamwork and encourage openness, creativity and critical thinking among employees, who are given space to exercise their own initiative and autonomy in carrying out tasks. They also reinforce the way employees get on-the-job learning from colleagues in the form of mentoring, coaching etc., where 70% of knowledge is gained on the job, 20% from coaches or colleagues and 10% through conventional learning.

Why we need a learning culture

The more employees know, the more they can contribute to ŠKODA AUTO’s productivity, competitiveness and transformation. Supporting continuous learning indicates that employees are worth the investment and that the carmaker cares about their career development. In addition, the development of new skills and knowledge enhances personal performance and competence at work. Thus, it supports the career development of employees and, in the case of collaboration, strengthens the cohesion of the employees in the team. To this end, it uses team learning, the concept of experts, self-study and learning communities, as well as a range of digital tools. ED

You can find the range of ŠKODA Academy courses in the Employee Services section of ŠKODA Space.

Expert concept

Continuous learning is also ensured by the expert concept, which ŠKODA AUTO has been supporting since 2021. This educational pillar takes particular care of the expertise of employees in the individual departments – that is, the experts who pass on this knowledge. The aim is to provide an overview of the company’s experts, make active use of their knowledge and expand this knowledge further.

Team learning

The team learning process is agile and continuous and encourages communication and knowledge transfer across the company. It erases hierarchy in the team (everyone can learn from everyone) and provides employees with continual feedback. The ŠKODA Academy’s pilot project in this regard is the Teamlearning workshop, which shows interested employees how to educate each other about the specific learning needs of the individual teams.

Ambassadors and communities

The role of ambassadors, for example in the O365 programme, has proved to be a vehicle for educational innovation. Similarly, several learning communities, such as My Learning, also function as online meeting points to discuss a common topic, where the individual members communicate and share information in a targeted manner. You can find an overview in the issue of ŠKODA Mobil 3/2022.

Digital sharing

If you need to share information with a larger group of people, join a conference stream with the assurance of professional technical support, record a professional webinar, video etc., you can use the services of the ŠKODA Academy Digi Studio. Or you can make your own videos. To get it right in terms of content and technique, you can take the How to Make Videos Effectively course.

Self-study

You can also educate yourself through online courses and video tutorials, which you can find in the Odilo Digital Library, the Media Library or the eDoceo platform (see Self-Study Tools). Various MOOC platforms, which are online courses with unlimited participants, can also be a solution. Masterplan is one such platform and particularly suitable for employees on maternity and parental leave. The platforms can be found in the Education Digital Ecosystem (see the issue of ŠKODA Mobil 3/2022).
