KAMIQ

TO THE URBAN JUNGLE

SCALA

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

ŠKODA’s third SUV had its European premiere at the motor show.

It connects the classic advantages of an SUV car, like heightened ground

clearance and seat position, with the agility of a compact car. It is the brand’s

first model to have, in the full‑LED version, split headlights with lights for

daytime running created by four LED features. For the first time, it is also

equipped with dynamic front and back directional lights. The front has a

wide radiator grille with double lamination and the shape of the hood is

typical. The robust front spoiler emphasises the terrain character of the car.

From the side, the car appears powerful thanks to 16" or 18" wheels and

a high hood. It offers five types of motorisation and an adjustable chassis

upon request. The KAMIQ also has the most modern assistance systems.

Lane Assist and Front Assist are part of the standard equipment; the Driver

Alert system for fatigue detection is also available upon request. There are

more than two dozen Simply Clever solutions on board. The name KAMIQ

is connected to the already standardised naming of the SUV models. The

names of larger models, like KAROQ and KODIAQ, also begin with the letter

K and end with Q, and the language of the Inuits living in the north of Canada

and Greenland is used again. The word “kamiq” describes a state in which

something naturally fits perfectly in all situations.

SCALA became another attractive display at the motor show, even though it

was mere weeks after its production premiere (read more about it in ŠKODA

SCALA supplement at www.skodamobil.cz). It is, by the way, the most

progressive model from a connectivity perspective. It is the brand’s first car

to always be online and also the first among the VW Group vehicles to have

all the third‑generation infotainment systems. Another highlight is the car’s

equipment, with LED headlights and LED back‑grouped lamps included in

the basic equipment. Upon first seeing the SCALA in Geneva, the motor

show’s moderator said during the live broadcast of the Garage show, “I think

it’s the most beautiful ŠKODA car, not counting the SUPERB model. The

car is not pretending anything. It is still compact and is one of the cheaper

ŠKODA brand models, yet it still looks amazing.” Apart from the exclusive

new models, visitors could also go and see numerous other models from the

current offer. Two sports models, the OCTAVIA RS and the KODIAQ RS,

were launched there, as well as the sporty SUPERB COMBI SPORTLINE

and KAROQ SPORTLINE models. The OCTAVIA COMBI SOLEIL, which is

an action version of the brand’s best‑selling model and was created thanks

to a partnership between ŠKODA AUTO and Cirque du Soleil, was put on

display together with the sporty FABIA MONTE CARLO hatchback.

Lovely; it is obvious that the guys from

Škoda are very handy and know how to make

beautiful cars. Big congratulations.

Super.

MyŠKODA

Development

continues

In the zone dedicated to mobility,

the carmaker presented its

modern solutions. Of course,

these included the MyŠKODA

Delivery and MyŠKODA Park

services, which will soon expand

the line of mobile applications

MyŠKODA. They are already

helping drivers in everyday

situations linked to their cars and

more. Bernhard Maier promised

that the carmaker will continue

working on the services that

form part of MyŠKODA in order

to make mobility as comfortable,

simple and convenient as

possible for the customers.

Awesome.

GENEVA 2019

IN THE MEDIA

The KAMIQ small crossover is without a shadow

of a doubt ŠKODA’s big debut this week at the

Geneva Motor Show, but the VISION iV concept is

also relevant and deserves our attention.

ŠKODA is probably not the first brand to think of

when thinking about electric cars. However, it has

big plans for the future in this area.

There was also a motorsport zone at the motor show, where visitors could

remember the successes of ŠKODA Motorsport led by the category WRC 2

world champion, Jan Kopecký, while also seeing the new generation of the

FABIA R5 special in the “war paint” it will soon don when taking position at the

starting line of the world championship. The fans appreciated the racing car’s new

look, which includes a more dynamic design in the front part and new headlights

equipped with LED technology to underline the car’s modern appearance. The

new FABIA R5 also got numerous important technical innovations, for example,

1.6 l turbocharged engine with higher performance and improved torque point.

FABIA R5 will be homologated by the International Automobile Federation (FIA)

in the second quarter of 2019, and sales to customers around the world will start

immediately after that. The motorsport zone had much more to offer, however.

Visitors could even try doing motorsport thanks to virtual reality.

the production version of its smallest SUV to the
