THIS IS A GREAT HONOR
FOR OUR NEW “COLLEAGUE”
LAURA AT ŠKODA AUTO.
REPRESENTATIVES OF OUR
COMPANY ACCEPTED
THE SMARTBEST 2019 PRIZE
FOR THE NEW DIGITAL
ASSISTANT IN MAINZ.
Automotive journalists from
31 European countries ranked
ŠKODA’s expanded voice
control system first among
a total of ten finalists. The
jury considers Laura to be the
innovation of 2019 in the area
of driver-AI interaction. During
the yearly award ceremony
of the European AUTOBEST
association, the KAMIQ model
also won the third place in the
main category: Best Buy Car of
Europe for 2020.
THE WINNER OF ZEBRA
WON A KAROQ
NUMBER
OF THE WEEK
130
In 1985, Ladislav Křeček and
Bořivoj Motl together secured
the fourth place in the Belgian rally Boucles de Spa. Their car, the
ŠKODA 130 LR with number 20,
had a fuel tank below the front
hood to achieve a better weight
distribution. The second ŠKODA
vehicle was driven by Svatopluk
Kvaizar and Jiří Janeček, who ended on the eighth place.
ŠKODA AUTO together with Odbory KOVO have long
supported the ZEBRA program (focusing on Improvement),
which allows ŠKODA AUTO employees to actively take
part in the improvement of work conditions, processes,
procedures, quality and maintaining competitive strength.
On 14. January 2020, another winner was selected at
random with the presence of a notary, and on 13 February
the winner accepted his prize at the hall of the Quality Center
of the Kvasiny plant. Other authors of successful proposals
for improvement also received valuable prizes – five tickets to
the ice hockey world championship or five vouchers for
a wellness weekend.
PRIVATE DRIVERS WITH ŠKODA CARS:
SECOND AND FIFTH PLACE
The shortest Swedish rally (13-16 February) of all time, which was reduced to a mere
148.55 km due to the unusually warm weather, featured a close battle. Indeed, the results for
the WRC3 category were only decided on the 21.19 km of the last stage. Emil Lindholm
and Mikael Korhonen, driving their private ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo, secured the second place in
the WRC3 category, a mere 5 seconds behind the winner. Oliver Solberg (S) with co-driver
Aaron Johnston (IRL) lost their third position due to a wheel defect when debuting with their
special FABIA Rally2 evo; they ended on the fifth place in the WRC3 category.
