Škoda Helped Write Epic Stories

The Tour de France has wrapped up another highly attractive edition. Alongside a large fleet of cars for the organisers, the Škoda brand also provided the trophies for the winners, supported the points classification and put together a varied supporting programme.

Three weeks of gripping battles, huge crowds of spectators along the route and, in the end, a fifth triumph for the phenomenal Tadej Pogačar. That was the 113st edition of the Tour de France cycling race, which brought plenty of joy to Mladá Boleslav as well. Once again it was confirmed that the Škoda brand has linked its name to one of the biggest, most watched and most attractive sporting events of the year.

That is how many electrified cars the Škoda brand supplied to the organisers.

Škoda Auto has been the official main partner of the Tour de France since 2004. This year, too, it supplied the organisers with the electrified Enyaq and Superb iV models to accompany the peloton. Race director Christian Prudhomme used two specially modified red cars during the stages: alongside the plug-in hybrid Superb liftback, he also had the new Peaq electric car.

Trophies Designed at Škoda Design Presented by Klaus Zellmer

As is now the tradition, the Czech brand also takes care of the design of the trophies for the overall winner and for the individual categories. It is the main partner of the sprinters’ points classification, and the leader of this classification wears a jersey in the carmaker’s green colours. This year the riders fought a thrilling duel for it, and after an exceptionally determined performance the winner was Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen, a specialist in the classic one-day races. Board Chairman Klaus Zellmer presented him with the green crystal trophy at the finish in Paris.

The Season Continues with the Škoda Brand

On Saturday 1 August, the women’s race Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift also got under way in France, finishing on 9 August. Here, too, Škoda Auto is the official main partner and has provided the organisers with cars.

Top cyclists will also be on show in Mladá Boleslav. On Friday 14 August, the second stage of the Czech Tour will start from the Škoda Museum and take the riders to Ještěd. Škoda Auto is the official mobility partner. For the rest of the season, the Czech brand’s colours will also be seen at the Spanish Vuelta and at the mountain bike world championships, for example.

A gateway to the world of cycling

Stories from the Tour de France were once again brought by the We Love Cycling platform, where fans could also enter competitions for appealing prizes, including a place on a stage for amateur riders, which was also ridden by Chris Froome, four-time Tour de France winner and Škoda brand ambassador. The website www.welovecycling.com continues to offer interesting topics even after the Tour de France has finished.

The Start Turned into a Party on Wheels

The Škoda brand prepared a varied supporting programme right from the ceremonial start of the Tour de France in Barcelona. The brand’s new ambassador Chris Froome came along, and the compact electric crossover Epiq, which is built in Spain, was also presented to the public there. The playful and colourful marketing campaign for the launch of this car was followed up by entertaining activities from the Škoda brand. One of the most eye‑catching was a cycling party along the coastal route, led by DJ Dom Whiting on a specially modified bike fitted with a DJ desk. He got not only the participants of the bike parade dancing, but passers‑by as well. Anyone in the mood for a bigger sporting effort could also join a sixty-kilometre ride with Chris Froom and other well‑known names. Among them were the cyclists Alberto Contador, Zbyněk Štybar, Jiří Ježek and others, as well as Rally Dakar 2026 truck category winner Vaidotas Žala and the motorcycle racer Maverick Viñales.
