The Peaq Steps into the Spotlight

The debut of the seven-seat Peaq electric SUV is approaching. Journalists have already test-driven the vehicle, which is currently covered in camouflage.

Lake Como in northern Italy, surrounded by historic villas, has attracted artists and filmmakers for centuries. James Bond headed to its shores in the film Casino Royale, and scenes from Star Wars were also filmed here. At the end of March, Škoda's upcoming flagship electric model — the Peaq SUV with special camouflage — also made its way to this setting. Even before its world premiere, scheduled for the middle of this year, journalists got to test it out. At the same time, some details about the car's equipment, specifications and features were revealed.

2,970 mm

The Peaq's wheelbase makes it the most spacious model in Škoda's history.

935 l

The luggage compartment volume in the five-seat configuration is the largest of any Škoda car.

> 600 km

The Peaq will offer a range of over 600 kilometres on a single charge.

The Peaq stands out with the most sophisticated iteration yet of the Modern Solid design language, its spaciousness, and its emphasis on comfort. Thanks to a wheelbase of nearly three metres, passengers in the second and third rows will enjoy exceptional comfort. Five interior variants will be available, including the Sportline trim. The upholstery in selected versions is exclusively vegan and sustainable — it incorporates more than 50 kilograms of recycled materials.

We wanted to emphasise the car's elegance, so we chose more subdued shades combined with a matte film. The dominant colour is Škoda Emerald Green, complemented by subtle sunset tones.

Petr Petzet

Designer, ED – Škoda Design

"We gained a good first impression from a test drive with the Peaq prototype. The car offers a balanced ratio between ride comfort and handling — with optional adaptive suspension. The interior is luxurious and practical. A potential weakness may be the relatively lower seating position behind the wheel compared to some competitors."

"In the details, the car impresses with well-thought-out solutions. The retractable door handles are among the best on the market: electrically extended, yet directly connected to the door linkage — without any delay. This is what true ease of use looks like."

Autobild.de, 30 March 2026

"The Peaq is clearly aimed at families looking for a spacious electric car with practical Simply Clever features who don't want to compromise. At the same time, it will appeal to executives who want the best that Škoda Auto has to offer. Based on my first impressions from Italy, I think they've succeeded."

Comfort on the road

The Relax package focuses on even greater driving comfort. It includes seats with a massage function, an electrically adjustable ergonomic leg rest, two cushions on the front seats, a folding table and an integrated wellness app. The app offers six modes — for relaxation, stretching or recharging — and achieves the desired result by adjusting settings such as the climate control, ambient lighting and the seats' massage function. The experience is further enhanced by a state-of-the-art sound system developed by Škoda Auto in collaboration with the premium brand Sonos.

For the first time ever on a Škoda model, retractable door handles will be featured, improving the car's aerodynamics. They maintain the highest safety standards and can also be activated mechanically — simply press the front part of the handle marked with three dots.

A completely new feature is the panoramic roof with dynamically controlled shading. It uses electrical voltage to adjust the glass's transparency and light transmission. This is the largest panoramic roof Škoda has ever offered on its vehicles.

Customers will be able to choose from three powertrain and battery variants — labelled 60, 90 and 90x — with power outputs ranging from 150 to 220 kW. The 90 and 90x versions offer a range of over 600 kilometres and can be charged from 10 to 80 percent capacity with direct current in just 28 minutes. The 60 version achieves the same charge in 27 minutes.

The camouflage was inspired by mountain peaks

The model name Peaq is derived from the English word for peak. Mountain peaks, along with the colours of the sunset, were also reflected in the car's camouflage, whose purpose is to conceal its proportions, shapes and various details before the premiere. "At the same time, however, every camouflage tells a bit of the story of the model in question," says designer Petr Petzet from the ED – Škoda Design department, describing the approach to camouflaging the car. His idea won a small internal competition in which several designers submitted initial proposals. "Using an abstract depiction of valleys and peaks was an immediate inspiration for me," adds Petzet.

100 hours

Preparing the camouflage — from the initial designs through graphic curves to test prints — took more than 100 hours.

The camouflage consists of seven print files. Applying the physical wrap took about a week of work.

The camouflage also hides a playful element — the designer has hidden a small amphibian in several places. Unlike the camouflage on previous models, the Peaq's 20-inch wheels are also covered; Škoda Auto had intended to showcase them to journalists during test drives. However, their design must remain a secret for now.
